Danielle (bookaddict27) Hi Everyone. I am so glad it is almost time to start reading for this challenge! So does anyone have any ideas for a team name?

message 5: by Megan (new)

Megan (celtic_girl) | 363 comments Hi everybody! I can be captain if no one else wants to be. As for team names I was thinking maybe something with ONE in the title, but haven't come up with anything yet.

message 6: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (bookaddict27) I was thinking similar thoughts for team names but the best I could come up with was 'the Wonderous Ones'....So hopefully someone else has a great idea for a team name.

If you want to be team capain that's fine with me, Megan.

message 7: by Lina (new)

Lina Hi Ladies!

Fantastic that we already have a volunteer for captain Megan :-) Good on you!

How about we make it a simple "Onederous" for the title?

Or given all the sledging I'm seeing in the genreal discussion thread, we could be cheeky with the title too... hmm.. something like

-Winning!
-The First Ladies
-Reading Frenzy
-One for the Money

message 8: by Megan (new)

Megan (celtic_girl) | 363 comments Ooh...I like those, especially "One for the Money"!

Here are a few names I thought of:

Page by Page Scavengers
ONEderful Scavengers
Readers in ONEderland

message 9: by Ana (new)

Ana hi:) readers in onederland sounds nice

message 10: by Lina (new)

Lina I'll vote for First Ladies for name and Megan as captain.

message 11: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (bookaddict27) I like The First Ladies as a team name.

message 12: by Megan (new)

Megan (celtic_girl) | 363 comments I like Readers in ONEderland too, but if everyone else prefers First Ladies I can go with that one - I'm really okay with any of the options given so far. So, I guess to make it unanimous we should wait to see if Ana is okay with First Ladies as our team name - right?

message 13: by Ana (new)

Ana i am okay with whatever name you like:)

message 14: by Megan (new)

Megan (celtic_girl) | 363 comments Okay, I posted our info in the discussion thread so it's official. Our team name is First Ladies!

message 15: by Megan (new)

Megan (celtic_girl) | 363 comments I made a spreadsheet to keep track of our points, here's the link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/c... Let me know if there's a problem with it :D

Lina WEEK #1: TIE
Slammed (Slammed, #1) by Colleen Hoover
Book: Slammed by Colleen Hoover
Finished: 03-12-12
Rating: ★★★★
Review: I'm not usually a big fan of Young Adult fiction, but I'll read those books that have been highly recommended by friends. Such was the case here.

I found Laiken to be a typical late-teenager, though having just come out of tragic circumstances after the death of her father. The star in this story was Will, the sensitive, responsible guy next door with a penchant for poetry. The drama and conflict of "I want you but I can't have you, come closer, NO, stay away!!" was very well done, though it did remind me a little of the angst in Twilight, which was a slight turn-off for me. The poetry, ahhh, the poetry won me over completely.
I got quite frustrated by Laiken, by her tendency to stick her head in the sand and try to hide from her problems or shift the blame. I kept hoping to see more growth in her than I felt the reader got. Nevertheless, as soon as I finished this book, I started it's sequel, Point of Retreat. Surely the mark of a good story, that it keeps you going back for more!

Weather: SNOW - Pg 14. "It takes me a second to realize what it is. Snow? In September?"
*Clothing: TIE - Pg 16. "I'm staring at the pattern of his black tie, which is flipped over his shoulder..."
Body Part: ELBOW - Pg 30. "Will nudges me with his elbow and I turn to look at him."
Misc: PAPER - Pg 43. "Will snaps as he walks towards his desk, picking up a stack of papers.""

Danielle (bookaddict27) WEEK 1: TIE
A Quick Bite (Argeneau, #1) by Lynsay Sands
Book: A Quick Bite by Lynsay Sands
Completed: 6/12/2012
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: A Quick Bite was an enjoyable light read with an interesting plot. In particular, the concept of having a vampire who faints at the sight of blood was fresh and original. The characters, not only Greg and Lissianna but also the entire Argeneau family, were all very interesting and simply fascinating to read about. This was a great start to the Argeneau series and I will definitely be continuing to read the rest of the series.

Items Claimed:

*Clothing- Tie: “He sighed as it was removed, relaxing on the bed a bit, and Lissianna decided to remove his tie as well.”

Weather- Snow: “While they hadn't had their first snow, it was cold enough that there was no odor from the rotting food in the large metal containers.”

Body Parts- Nose: “Once she'd found the best spot for her purposes, Lissianna opened her mouth, breathed in through her nose as her canines slid out to their full, sharp length, then sank them into his neck.”

Misc- Bike: “"Recite," Lissianna ordered as she tossed the metal aside and pulled the shed door open to reveal a lawn mower, a bike, and various other items.”

I am absolutely loving this challenge! So far I have had no problems finding the words and additional words in books; though I expect I might have more trouble with finding some of the words later in the challenge. At the moment I am currently thinking of reading Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter for this week's word- though I have heard both good and bad things about it so I am not entirely sure whether should read it or not. Alice in Zombieland (The White Rabbit Chronicles, #1) by Gena Showalter

Lina WEEK #2: BONE
Plays Well With Others A Trio of Erotic Tales by Selena Kitt
Book: Plays Well With Others: A Trio of Erotic Tales by Selena Kitt, Carl East & Tawny Taylor
Finished: 08-12-12

Review: This anthology was not at all what I was expecting! Would definitely NOT recommend!!
The Real Mother Goose
The first story was disjointed, but quirky and sexy with BDSM overtones, althouhg included some disturbing references to "girls" and "boys" but no mention of age. I liked the way it all ended up tying in, this was probably my favourite in the collection, but that isn't really saying much.
The Hell Gate
WTF?! Seriously. This was a f*cked up orgy-fest with people (view spoiler) The story was all over the place, including a couple of "and then they woke up" sequences, and the writing style was amateur. Not my cup of team. At. All.
Claim Me
I had almost given up by the time I got to this story. The writing was again amateur-ish, but I could see where the story had pull and the style held promise.

Weather: RAINBOW - Pg. 721
"He hated to think he’d spent his entire life to this point chasing rainbows."

Clothing: HOOD - Pg. 504
"He’d secured and tucked his hair into the hood of his cape."

Body Part: BONE - Pg. 540
"Her eyelids fluttered closed just as he felt the Change pulling at his bones and tendons, turning him into the beast he really was."

Misc: FRUIT - Pg. 619
"Cheese omelet, bacon, sausage, fruit salad."

Book: Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner

Review: It was a very nice book written from both the perspective of a teenage girl and her mother. How they see the difficulties of life is the topic. It is a good book in my opinion.

Clothing: TIE - Pg 274 "the boys were playing with their ties"
Body Part: curly hair - pg 239 "my grandpa had curly hair"
