Ooo. I haven't read those first two. Yay. I'm up to 4 for this month. Thank you!

I loved the Richelle Mead series. I totally don't think she should've ended up with who she ended up with, though. I was a little miffed on how a certain character was treated given he was a sweetheart. I hope that was spoiler free. lol

Vicky (librovert) I have a question for the series in August. If a series is still being written, but has 5+ books in it by August, will reading all currently published books count as start to finish?

message 306: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) | 929 comments Yes. Only if the last book is published the same month will it count to finish off the series.

Harri (books_and_tea) For May, I have this book: The Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle
It's 1408 pages long. I've read the first book in it, but I still have way over 1000 pages left. I'm logging all of the books in it as separate books here on Goodreads for my own records. Can I still use it or does it not count?

I don't have any 1000 page books to read. I was going to read 5 books over 500 pages in the month of May which for me is challenging as my attention span for longer books suck. These are the books I'm planning:

Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #11) by J.R. Ward

~Melissa~ | 5253 comments Sorry working on my iPad. Doesn't always work so good. I have to pick a fifth book. Might be the book after Name of the wind depending on how imlike that one. You can join me for any of them if you want.
Lover at last will be first as I have from the library and due back 5/4.....

I'm glad to hear that. That one is think 700 pgs and the first 2 in outlanders series together are about 1400ish. Hoping I like them. I usually don't read more than one over 500pg book a month so this will challenge me,lol

Question Jennifer: Will I get credit for over 1,000 pages on this book set?
The Divergent Series 2-Book Collection (Divergent, #1-2) by Veronica Roth

Book 1 Paperback is 487 and Book 2 is 525 for a total of: 1012 pages
But the e-book page for the collection is 643 pages on goodreads and amazon isn't much help either.

your verdict?

I'm about 300 pages into Atlas Shrugged. I need to offset it with shorter books.

We read in the morning and before bed each day at least, and sometimes during the day too, so that would be at least five different sessions in the 2.5 days I am there.

Phyllis | 66 comments I have a problem with the June challenge. I have no one to read to. Thought I would be able to read to some little great-grand sons, but that didn't happen. What can I substitute?

message 342: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments For August can we just read 5 books from a series? Does it have to be a whole series?

I've decided to keep the read to someone challenge for June because I remember I have a book that DD and I want to read together. She can suffer through me reading parts out loud.

But I might sub out the series one. I am trying not to start any new series until I finish up some others.

There are 3 options available atm if you haven't already used them. You may duplicate a month, swap a month, or create your own challenge for that month.

It's a whole series for that month. Is there a 5 book series that you haven't read yet?

message 345: by Mary X (last edited May 15, 2013 07:22AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments Probably but I don't wnat to acquire anything. I have 5 books of series in my posession but I've either already started them or there's more than 6 books and I don't want to read them all in one month. I usually get sick of a series if I read more than 2 or 3 in a row.

I will sub that month out for something else.

NOt sure if I will finish this month. 2 1,000+ page books in a month is too much. I like finishing books on a regular basis.

(I have several hundred books just in print, thousands if you add in ebooks & audios and I'm trying to read from what I have already)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) | 929 comments Would it help if I made May two 800+ page books? Yes? No? Leave it alone?

message 348: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) I know it would help me. Honestly, even bumping it down to 975+ pages would be a huge help for me.

I have two 1000+ page books picked out but I'm not 100% sold on them. I can immediately pick out two books between 975 and 1000 pages that I'm dying to read.

Either way, I'll make this month work. I have to use my substitute for June since I don't know any kids of the reading to age. :P

message 349: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 948 comments Yeah maybe. I seem to have a gap of nothing between 750-1000+ pages.

But I did recently pick up 1Q84 from the library and it's only 975 pages. Certainly shorter than the other book I was going to attempt, War & Peace which is 1400 pages.

Still don't know if I'll be able to finish both Atlas Shrugged and 1Q84 but I'll give it the old college try.

message 350: by ~Jennifer~ (new)

~Jennifer~ (book_addiction) | 929 comments Ok. For this month, you may lower the page limit to two 800+ page books.
