Don's Consecution of Completeness 2013

I think it is something to do with personal taste. A lot of people read an entire series in order without a break. This can cause series fatigue and possibly boredom when you tie yourself down that way. My personal preference is to create a reading next shelf where I put the next book in the series I am reading. I'll mix and match, here and there, just to keep things different. It all depends on what works for you. Some series lend themselves better to reading all at once (Karen Moning's Fever, Rachel Vincent's Stray). Others can be enjoyed one book at a time. It's up to you.
These are series where I have all books on hand to read. I plan to at least complete this list if I stay focused:1. Coldfire: Read book 1 and 2 but doing a re-read since it was so long ago I read them
2. The Dark is Rising: Read book 1 recently
3. Mistborn: Stopped halfway through book2. Will pick up where I left off. No re-read since was recent. Not going to add Alloy of Law at this time.
4. Night Angel : Read book 1 recently
5. The Black Magician: Read book 1 recently
6. COBRA: new series
7. Shadow War: read books 1 and 2 but doing re-read since it was a long time ago
8. Doppleganger: new series
9. Finnbranch: read book 1 and part of 2. Doing re-read since it was too long ago
10. [ETA] The Darksword (Forgot I had this, too)
As a kicker, “re-reading” Wheel of Time using audio books. Read up to book 8 and dropped it:
“Read” book 1, will start with book 2 and have through book 7
That's about 30 books. Looks doable for a year as long as you don't get distracted by shiny new books. Good luck!
These are series where I have most of the books on hand. Will start on these once I have completed list above:1. Jaz Parks: Read up to book 4, have books 5, 6, 7 on hand
2. The Sword of Truth: Read up to book 9 and let it drop. Have book 9 and 11 on hand. Not sure if I am going to count book 12 as part of this.
...
3. Clockwork Vampire: Read book 1, have 2
4. Farseer : May do re-read, read book 1 but awhile ago. Have book 2
5. Death Gate: Read book 1 recently, have all but book 7
6. Song of Ice and Fire: Have first 4 books
Jaz Parks series is a quick read. They get better as the series progresses. Too bad there won't be any more of those books. Song of Fire and Ice will keep you very busy - they are insanely long.
Go, Don! Regarding your initial reading order question, I completely agree with AH. There are some series where I like to read one right after the other. But, that's not always the case. Some end in cliff hangers and having the next book handy is a blessing.I just go with the flow. If I have the next book and want to stay in that world, I jump to the next. If I need a break, I choose another.
Either way you choose, hope you have fun and are able to accomplish your goal(s).
Thanks AH and Steph for the feedback. I probably will read some in order, such as the quick reads, and switch off on some, like monstrous tomes.
Just a quick update.Finished the following:

So, the lists below are series I would like to finish and put to rest in 2013. My only question is how I should go about finishing a series. Should I read them for example Book 1, 2, 3 and complete? Or, read Series1/Book1, Series2/Book1, Series3/Book1 and then go back to Series1/Book2, Series2/Book2, Series3/Book2, and so on until I complete. I thought about doing it using the second option but now sort of leaning towards the first one above. Any thoughts?
