That is truly horrible and sad Kaylani. I have some clients who have been victimized several times - one of them (female) is now a sexual offender herself. Sadly she has a lower IQ and people took advantage of her several times while she was growing up then about a year ago she was found having sex with her younger step brother -- she was likely just doing what was done to her. A lot of times people that are already victims in life)lower IQ - no family support - etc... are considered easy targets by offenders and re-victimized often more than once :(

I hope the parents get all the support they need to be able to help their kids understand and move on.
Here's the really weird thing about this: we all hope the coach gets the help he needs. Although my daughter has been unusually silent on the matter, yesterday she started asking questions and its obvious to see she is conflicted. Her first concern was about the youngest member her coach was in contact with - a 4 year old boy (and family friend) who is the younger sibling of a team member. I have assured her that the coach was never alone with the boy. Her second major concern is if her coach has to go to jail. It bears keeping in mind that her coach was a friend - someone she thought she knew well. She is concerned for him. I admit I've never been through anything like this before, so it's all new to me. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Heidi. It's helpful.

My Sister-In-Law suddenly died Sat. Night. I don't even know how I am doing. I just want to not think right now ... because with all my health stuff and this its just too much and yeah.

I don't know if any of you have heard what is happening in Nairobi - there is a shopping centre about 10 minutes drive from my house that was taken over by Al Shabaab (our regional terrorist group) yesterday. We are all still in shock over it. I was almost going to take my children there around the time the attack happened to meet a friend, but we didn't go and then we heard the news. This is a place I go to often for various things. One of my husband's work colleagues is one of the 59 casualties of this attack. We can hear the sirens and helicopters while sitting in our house (fortunately all of us home and safe). It's just crazy, especially when I hear my kids talking about this like it's normal.

Vered wrote: "I don't know if any of you have heard what is happening in Nairobi - there is a shopping centre about 10 minutes drive from my house that was taken over by Al Shabaab (our regional terrorist group)..."I was just reading about it Vered, thought of you and came straight to this thread to ask if it was anywhere near you -- I see that it is. It's absolutely horrible! The news hasn't confirmed al-Shabab, what are you hearing there? For anyone in the group who is interested, here is the latest news: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-afric...
You know, yesterday I was griping about my iPhone crashing when I tried to update iOS7... puts it all into perspective, doesn't it? You have every right to feel relieved your family is safe. Stay safe!
Thanks Brigid, Heidi and SM - appreciate the thoughts! al-Shabab has claimed responsibility (so we hear) and it makes sense. They've been threatening action for a while because the Kenyan Army is in Somalia trying to route them out. They did some small things last year (throwing grenades into bus stops and cafes) and then went quiet. I guess they were planning this.
And yes, I know I have a right to feel relieved but still, my heart goes out to all the people affected, including people we know. It's just so close to home (literally!!!)
I've stopped complaining about my slow internet this weekend, needless to say...!

Thanks everyone. I think the thing that's really plaguing me is that we were almost there - I was meeting up with a friend and we were thinking of going to Westgate as it's close to both of us. My kids wanted to see a movie there as well. We would have been there at the time it all started. So glad I had a lazy moment and invited my friend to my house instead.
I am so glad that you and your family is safe, Vered. I can't imagine something like that so close to home.

I heard on our local news this morning that one of the victims was Ottawa (where I am). She was a 27 year old diplomat. Such a small world. My heart goes out to her family.
Thanks SM - no, I don't think any of us will forget this weekend! And yes, there were victims from all over the world.
A very excellent police officer and human being that I know passed away last night. Someone struck his parked patrol car and he died instantly. His K-9 dog was in the car and he also died. He was only 29 years old. Way too young. :(
My heart hurts for his family. I can't handle when men cry so seeing his fellow officers lose it makes me bawl like a baby. If anything it reminded me to stop whining about stupid things because they really don't matter. I am off to MN for the weekend to see my niece in her HS play so I am trying to focus on the positives :)
Vered I am so glad your family is okay. Heidi... :( that is so sad. 29.
I have bronchitis and pneumonia (almost bad enough to be hospitalized).
my niece who is 16 months old is looking like she will need her open heart surgery sooner than age 3.
and I almost died from anaphylaxis Thursday the 24th. my soy allergy is now so bad I most likely can't eat at most restaurants and can never be without an epipen.
and so I am pretty stuck at my assisted living until my lungs start to heal, and the internet isn't working, so I can't download ebooks and my hands keep losing circulation when I try to hold real books, then go cold, numb and I only get a few pages.

wow - stops me from complaining - hope things lighten up for you soon. You don't happen to have a cafe nearby with free wireless you can go download some ebooks?
Kaylani have you ever listened to audio books? I know a lot of people in my audio books group turned to audio book after their health prohibited them from being able to read print books.
Wow Kaylani, that's horrible. I seriously hope things get better for you very soon. And Heidi makes an excellent suggestion with audio books.
God. A kid in my hometown was found dead under the water tower wish is super close to my parents house. :( I don't have much information other than he was 14 years old and a freshman at the high school.
I have distant cousins in the high school and a lot of friends and people I know with kids and whatnot.
I am so worried and sick over this.
Also my dad's friends kid (13 year old female) died during Snowmobile Safety class when accidentally barreling ahead and hitting a loading dock.
I suppose the nice thing about today is that a lot of people seem to be missing and the computer lab is just me myself and I even though the wireless isn't working I can get on the sites that suck on my phone.

Ugh. They thought I had pneumonia again, it turns out they think it might be lung cancer. My nieces surgery is slated for about July.
I was diagnosed with Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. And Finally got my new wheelchair which instead of when I feel I need it was changed to 'all the time'.
I keep getting too sick to go to my doctors appointments to look further into the deterioration of my lung function and breathing issues.
And someone keeps breaking into my apartment.
