SOLVED. Nonfiction? Book about a man working with disabled or inferm children at a summer camp [s]

I read this for school in 8th grade so about 2007-2008. It was about a man that was working at a summer camp for children (I think it was all boys?) with severe disabilities or terminal illnesses. He was in charge of one particular cabin of about 4 or 5 boys. I only remember one of the boys in particular, his kidneys didn't work right (I think?) so he has a sack to hold his urine outside his body that has to be changed.
The book was told in first person by the man. There is something about him and his cabin climbing a mountain for a camp achievement award or something like that.

You're welcome! A movie with the same title was made back in the early 1980's as well; I remember enjoying it...it was very touching.
