I'm new to this, too, but here goes:"You’re not supposed to court a girl by telling her you’re the villain.”
Hmm... sounds YA.I wanna say Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side, but I don't think that's right.
“'There is no use trying; one can't believe impossible things.''I dare say you haven't had much practice. When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.'”
Oh, you've chosen one of my favorites! "Alice In Wonderland" - the Queen talking to Alice. What a great story and now movie EXCEPT I like the old Disney version better than this new modern one.
Oops! Sorry, the phone rang and I forgot about this and went off to bed. I warned you I was new at this! So, here you go:
"When the dead are done with the living, the living can go on to other things, Franny said. What about the dead? I asked. Where do we go?"
Susie Salmon from Alice Sebold's The Lovely BonesNew Quote: X's like nobody else in the world. When I'm with her, it's like I'm split in two. Half of me is just on fire goin' crazy if I'm not touching her, the other half is so still and peaceful, just perfectly content, just knows this is the one. ... But she doesn't love me.
I used X for the name because its a big hint. While I wasn't the biggest fan of this couple, I just love his description of how she makes him feel.

Could it be a Riley quote? Talking about Buffy in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer?" It rings a bell... I think he was telling that to Xander. P.S.: I didn't like that couple very much either. Sometimes he annoyed me quite much, but I have to admit that that description is one of his good moments...
Yes, thats it. I kind of agreed with Spike on this, Riley wasn't dark enough for Buffy. He always came across as too nice (read flat and boring here). Even when the writers attempted to make him edgier, it didn't really work. But that quote always gets to me every time I see it. Okay, its your turn to come up with a quote!
I so agree with everything you just said, but I have to admit that I never managed to feel too sorry for him. Anyway, here's the new quote:"Laughter is not at all a bad beginning for a friendship, and it is far the best ending for one."
Let me know if you need a hint
That would be Harry from The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde :)And a new one...
"He is clearly bookish. I did not follow a single word of their conversation at dinner last night, not one jot of it. He must be bookish."
(book; urban fantasy)
I thought it looked familiar and did some searching. Would you believe, last night I opened up my copy of Soulless by Gail Carriger right to the page with that quote. (insert Twilight Zone Theme here) So, this was Mrs Loontwill (Alexia's mother) talking to her other daughters about Alexia and Mr MacDougall.Hmmm. Okay, here's a new one.
"Is it any wonder, then, that I became what I did? . . . When Love cast me out, it was Cruelty who took pity upon me."
(book, fantasy)
That's Phedre from Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey. Hmm, I really should read third book in that series..."Consequently, if you believe God made Satan, you must realize that all Satan's power comes from God and so that Satan is simply God's child, and that we are God's children also. There are no children of Satan, really"
(book, vamp horror)
Interview with a Vampire, by Anne Rice: I think Armand said this?Ok:
"What a marshmallow. You should hold out for someone with a stronger stomach. Someone who laughs at the gore that makes weaker men vomit." (book)
That's an easy one! New Moon. Jacob's line.Hmmm... next:
“Yes, I get that
you don’t want to be attracted to me, that you think I’m beneath you, but thank you for
pointing it out anyway. And in case you haven’t realized it, I’m not thrilled about it, either.
I don’t want to like you, and I certainly don’t want to be with someone who’s appalled by
me. I don’t want to be . . . desired begrudgingly.”
I got this one! Merit to Ethan in Some Girls Bite.Even taking out the names there's a huge hint in the middle of this one.
"So there I am, stuck in a Bible study class in Indianapolis, when I hear the news that my matchmaker is sunning herself on the beach with D____ R______."
"You took a phone call in the middle of Bible study?"
"I was bored."
Sorry Melanie, I didn't see your messages until it was too late... Photojim's right. As for the next quote... hmmm.. I don't think I've read the book but I'm thinking once I know which one it is it's going straight in my TBR list! :P
That's Heath Champion aka the Python from Match Me If You Can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips :)"I've been saying it so long to you, you just wouldn't listen. Every time you said 'Farm Boy do this' you thought I was answering 'As you wish' but that's only because you were hearing wrong. 'I love you' was what it was, but you never heard." (book)
Wesley from Princess Bride"Pritkin kissed like he did everything else, straightforward, accepting no prisoners and with an intensity that left me breathless. It was hot and hard and desperate, like he was starving for it, and I opened my mouth and took it, because, God." (book)
hint: Urban fantasy, series
Author's Karen Chance, one of the Cassie Palmer books, but I don't know which one because I couldn't get past the first one :)
Embrace the Night by Karen Chance"The more I know of the world, the more I am convinced that I shall never see a man whom I can really love. I require so much!" (book)
One of my favorite books! Sense and Sensibility!Okay, this next one is from my most favorite book of all time.
"A baby has brains, but it doesn't know much. Experience is the only thing that brings knowledge, and the longer you are on earth the more experience you are sure to get."
I think it's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz :)Next:
"Magic exists. Who can doubt it, when there are rainbows and wildflowers, the music of the wind and the silence of the stars? Anyone who has loved has been touched by magic. It is such a simple and such an extraordinary part of the lives we live."
