R4: Team Scavenger Hunt Rules & discussion
General Rules:◈ A new item will be called every Friday morning, Mountain Standard Time. (I am going to aim to get it posted before I take my daughter to school at 8am.) You can use the time zone converter to determine the time difference between Colorado and your time zone.
◈ Each team member must choose a book to read with the item in the story, on the cover or in the title. All team members pick their own book, it can be the same as other teammates or different. Once all team members have read the book and posted a short review (review must be posted in the thread not a link) the team will receive a point for the item. (Your review must include the weekly item you are reading for, a link to the book, the date you read the book, a 1-5 star level and at least 2 sentences then any other items you are claiming) You must start reading the book after the item is called.
◈ Only one book may be claimed for each item of the week of the challenge but up to 4 items may be claimed from a book, (one of which must be the item of the week). If a team reads their books right it is possible to get all 32 items in 8 weeks and win the challenge.
*If an item is called that a player already has claimed a point for, the player must still read the item again to be able to claim extra points for their team. The item can only be counted once by each player, so the previous earned item will be nulled.
* You do not have to finish your book with in the week, but your team will not get the point until you do finish.
◈The items are separated into 4 groups: Weather, Body Parts, Clothing and Miscellaneous. While you can claim 4 items a week you can only claim 1 item per list, per weekly book claimed.
◈ Books must be at least 200 pages or equivalent. Anthologies do count but the review must include each short in the book. Audiobooks & e-books are acceptable.
◈ Team size will depend on the amount of people who sign up. All team members are expected to post updates multiple times a week. An acknowledgement of the posted item and a book review should be done each week, as well as conversing with your team. If you can’t commit to reading a book a week that applies to this challenge please don’t sign up.
*If a player fails to post after 5 days (with exception to pre-arranged absences), the remaining team players can vote to bring in a sub and remove the non-participating player. Any player falling 2 weeks behind in their reading may also be replaced by the team. Substitute players will be allowed to claim any items not yet read by the removed player, in books they have read since unfound items were called.
◈ The item list will be posted soon, you can start looking for books to read for the challenge as soon as it is up, but no reading until the challenge starts.
*New Twist
Due to the growth of the challenge the team captains will have more work this time around. Teams will not get points from called items until all team members have posted their reviews and the captain will then post in a thread to claim the items for your team.
◈ Only 12 items will be called and the challenge will be over February 22nd

I need more will power to say no. Maybe I will ask Santa to help me. I am already lining up my 2013 challenges.
I am mad that I didn't finish the A-Z Cities challenge so I have to redeem myself next year. I also didnt finish A-Z states. I will start over in 2013 and get it right.
Ah, I am right there with you. Darn A-Z challenges and thier silly U's get me every time. I have started plans for 2013 too. The great thing about this challenge is that it is pretty flexible about what you read. You can make it fit in with your books you need for other challenges. Come on you know you wanna read with us. All the cool kids are doing it.
I got lucky this last round I had the scavenger hunt, words with gr friends, & bingo going all at once. I was able to make one book count for all 3 team challenges each week for the most part. It's not as difficult to make it work as one would originally assume.

Me too Ezi! My Jedi mind tricks worked good last round but fizzled out that next to last week. This round they'll be much improved!

Sign-ups will be open November 11th to November 23rd. Members will be verified and teams posted no later than November 26th. Sign-ups will remain open if you would like to sign up for a backup place This challenge will fall over the December holiday season. Since it will fall early in the challenge players will have time to make up if they read slower those weeks. If you aren't able to fulfill the entire challenge time frame, feel free to sign up as a backup when you are available.
The first item will be called November 30th. The last item will be called February 15th and final points tallied by February 22nd.
