April | 970 comments So, I just felt like chatting and decided to start a new thread. I must have caught "the virus" that has been going around. I feel yucky and have slept most of the day. I have a sore throat, the chills, and just feel very tired. No body aches and no real congestion. I guess the backs of my eyes do hurt a bit.

I'm going to try to do a little reading. I just hate that I haven't been able to read today!

Actually, a nice cup of tea with a bit of honey sounds good! I think I'll ask my hubby to make me some!

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments Bummer, April! Packing, moving, and being sick isn't all that much fun.

I've been fighting something off for the last couple of weeks. I keep saying, "I can't be sick. Go away!" The inner talk seems to be working off and on. I'm too busy to be sick and I'm going to Vegas next Saturday.

I ended up with a horrible sinus infection one time that I was in Vegas. I ended up with laryngitis too. My ex had to order all my meals for me.

Go away virus!

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments Love, love, love that teacup! I collect demitasse, and I'd snatch that away from April in a second. Sorry, April! LOL!

Janice, You are so right! I need more positive self talk! I am telling myself that I have only today to be sick! Tomorrow I MUST be well!

Vegas sounds like a great time! Are you going with friends? Work? Can you believe that I have NEVER been to Vegas? LOL I guess I need to be making some plans!

Judy, thank for the inspirational photos! OMG, that soup looks soooooooo good! And that tea! I think a lot of might have to do with that beautiful cup!
And, I did try to see what books were on those shelves. LOL!

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments I am Rusalka and I approve of that bookshelf.

So many Neil Gaimans and Diana Wynne Joness on there. DWJ is the best sick reading.

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments April, I'm meeting my sister and her husband in Vegas. My roomie from the cruise (my sister's best friend) is leaving Vegas the day after I arrive so I'm going to meet up with her for drinks on Saturday night.

Kat (katzombie) | 2478 comments I hope you wake up feeling much much better April!

Rusalka - I spent ages peering at that picture to see what books were there! In the Netherlands its very common for people that live in street-level houses to have big glass windows with no curtains and if I'm walking past one where I can see their bookshelf I always try and see what books they have!

message 8: by April (new)

April | 970 comments Kat, thank you! Yes, I did wake up feeling much better! Thank goodness!

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments It's scary! I noticed an ad for quilting fabric on the right hand side. My two addicions (books/quilting) on the same page.

I did look at the fabrics. I did drool. But I behaved. I have got to pare down my stash as it is (space), so no point in adding to it. *sniff*

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Have any of you ever participated in World Book Night? I've applied to hand out books in 2013. They select 30 books and you apply to hand out 20 copies of one book. I know a few people who've participated and loved it. This is the US website, but I know it's done in the UK, don't know where else.

It looks very interesting. When will find out if you have been accepted?

message 15: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Not sure, January or February I think. One thing they do is try to have coverage over as large an area as possible, so I know they look at geographical location.

message 16: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments Good luck. It would be a great experience.

message 17: by AmyK (new)

AmyK (yakyma) | 1045 comments I was going to sign up for this year as a matter of fact, i was giving some thought to the answers for the questions they ask so i haven't yet. The website says they will let you know if you are accepted by February 2013.
