I'm SO with you. Even though Bill is supposed to love Sookie, there are a lot of things he does that make it seem otherwise. And Eric... well... he's definitely not Bill.

MJ | 15 comments Hi Everyone!

My name is MJ and I'm 20 years old, born and raised in Sweden but my parents are originally from Hungary. My favorite genre is Paranormal Romance! I'm currently waiting for the release of the next book from the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead, (I absolutely love that series!)If you check my to-read list here on goodread you can see that pretty much everything I own/read is paranormal romance books.

I love this site because you get to talk to a lot of great people with the same passion for reading, none of my friends like to read at least not like I do :P so I really didn't have anyone to talk to about books, giving and receiving book recs.

Thank you Goodreads and my fellow book addicts :)

I don't agree In the last two books you got the feeling that Eric had feeling not just lust and ownership.

Tell me what you love about this series. Sometimes YA books disapoint I read Marked which I liked twilight which I like. So I do read YA just sometimes its not as good as you hope.

That's what I mean. It seems Eric really CARES for Sookie... he does nice things without her asking... he just really seems to care. And (I don't think this is giving anything away for those who haven't read) when he lost his memory and went straight to her? OMG! Bill seems so distant all the time. I don't know if he's holding something back or if he even really cares about Sookie, beyond that he needs her for different things.

Robin THis gives away Plot for True blood
Yeah I agree I can't wait for the next book to see if the whole Fairy thing gets worked out. I wonder know that she know her heritage what will she do with that. I amjust unsure if the show will ever catch up to the books and it seems they are more interested inpleasing the audience than sticking to the books main plot.

I think reruns are starting soon but I didn't love this past season to much with MaryAnn

Heather in FL (heather_fl) Robin wrote: "I didn't love this past season to much with MaryAnn..."

I haven't been watching much of the series. I heard too much about it and there were so many differences from the book, I felt like I'd be yelling at the screen, "That didn't HAPPEN that way!!!" Lol. But I'm guessing MaryAnn was the maenad? If so, I can't believe they built an entire season around her when she was such a small part of a single book. Important part but small. I think you're right -- they're trying to appeal to their audience instead of sticking with the books.

I agree that some YA books are disapointing, I also loved both the House of night series and Twilight but I actually like the Vampire Academy more. I love the main character Rose because she is a strong, loyal, kind but a sarcastic character. I loved just about everything about this series from the dhampirs, vampires to the love story between her and Dimitri. I highly recomend it! Overall its a well written and thought out series with a diffrent take on vampires.

Brianna | 76 comments Hello everyone. My name is Brianna, I'm new to the site, and I love reading. I'll read just about anything. However lately, for my leisure reading, I've gone to PNR.
It's entertaining, with different worlds. Consequentially, I've read all Sookie Stackhouse books, gotten a start on the Dark-Hunter series, and have stacked up many, many interesting-looking series, for example the Mercy Thompson, and Rachel Morgan ones. And all because once I see a book that I find I want to read, I must get it,even though I won't read it until weeks later. :P
Hopefully, you guys will give me more amazing recommendations, and I'll make my to-read list considerably larger. lol :)

Tika Newman (TikaNewman) | 11 comments I'm Tika Newman, author and publisher. I've written and published three books so far in The Eyes of Innocence series. Although the storyline has no vampires or werewolves, it is about a paranormal girl, who grows up with psychic abilities and the power to heal.

I'm happy to join this group and hope to make lots of new friends here :) I live in upstate NY in the winter, and on a small lake in Pennyslvania from spring til early winter. I love to cook, garden, play backgammon and of course write.

Sounds interesting. I don't *have* to have vampires or werewolves to enjoy a book, lol. Charlaine Harris' Harper Connelley series was a good read, and there were no otherworldly creatures there, just a gift. I'll have to look yours up.

So you have read Mercy and Rachel, or they're on your to-read list? If you haven't read them yet, I really enjoyed both series. A new book about Mercy just came out, but I'm waiting for the Kindle version on April 6, and another Rachel book is coming out next week I think.

Someone else you might want to check out is Karen Chance. Both her Cassandra Palmer and Dorina Basarab series are pretty fast-paced -- lots of action... decent amount of romance, but not overpowering. Both series are about strong, kick-butt women who can be vulnerable at times as well. Good series, though it was a little confusing in Cassandra #1 while the author was world-building. There is lots of stuff to understand about why everything is happening, but it's worthwhile to get through.

message 317: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 76 comments They're on my to-read list. Karen Chance is there as well. They all sound like extremely good authors and books.

Thanks Heather :) My MC has paranormal attributes, so this series does fall in the paranormal catagory. And psssst, don't tell anyone, but there's a scene in one of the books where she meets a wolf cub in the woods.

message 320: by Jamie (new)

Jamie (jamierebecca01) | 3 comments Hi Everyone!!!

My name is Jamie. I'm a married 27 year old with a 2 year old little girl. My husband is actually getting out of the Air Force in one week... so it's packing time.

I love love love to read. I appreciate any book that allows me to use my imagination. I have always loved vampires (HUGE BTVS fan!!!), but lately i find myself loving all books with shapeshifters. I love Kresley Cole's books( wahooo IAD!) I am one of those fans who has basically given up on Laurell K Hamilton's work. I like Jacquelyn Frank, Lora Leigh(Breeds), Charlaine Harris, Gena Showalter, Nalini Singh etc etc.

I love trying new authors. Although I find half of them disappointing. I like a good combination of lust and love. I am very excited to be a part of a group of people who love to read. No one I know reads as much as I do. My husband doesn't understand it! hahah

xoxo,
Jamie

I've seen that sentiment in so many places. It's a shame...it almost seems like she's destroyed her own fan base. I haven't read any of her books, but I'm afraid even to pick up the early ones for fear that I'll end up giving up on it, too. I hear the early ones are very good, they just get "different" in the later books.

Jane Alexander | 2 comments Hi....dark romance is my guilty pleasure! I am a journalist and non-fiction writer who specialises in mind body spirit stuff/self-help/alternative spirituality.
I think my favourite books so far in this genre are Beautiful Creatures and the Sookie Stockhouse novels (because they are such good fun). I like a bit of humour mixed with my romance.
I am - like many others - hoping to break into fiction. My WIP is Samael - a YA dark romance - anyone interested can read the first few chapters on Authonomy....

Hope it's okay to post that.... I'd love to know what people think of it so far!
Looking forward to getting to know you all better....(said with fangs firmly withdrawn!)

oh heather you will be disappointed. the first books were exciting and great. the last books have been soooo disappointing. I bought "Flirt" which is RIDICULOUS. its a short story that features none of my fav characters and was sold for too much money because it was a hardback. i gave up. never again for laurell k hamilton.

I'll be talking about the attributes various vampire writers give their undead hotties. Should be interactive and fun!
