Hey Tall tails! How very cool that you're doing that?! I felt like the odd man out when I was studying graphic design because I'd say 90% of my class did graphic design to do design websites, etc. I really enjoyed layout design. I love typography learning how font can be graphic artwork and how spaces can be dynamic in a title. I lost my interest when my classes geared towards web designs but hey that's the future right. It was a shame. But yea I know the feeling I totally judge a book by it's cover. But I usually write it down and go home and research if it is any good. I'm horrible that's the reason why I read Twilight the black background with a single object totally got my attention I felt embarrassed not knowing what twilight was when I bought it and the cashier commented and in my head I thought I just liked the cover lol. I dunno if it's just me. But if I love a book then I'll buy it and I have to buy the hardcover because I can't help but respect of the design involved in doing the sleeve. To me it's a form of artwork and appreciate it as a display in my room. I know total nerd!
But that's very cool I hope you stick it through unlike I did and become very successful in your endeavors!!
Hello guys, nice to meet all of you.I'm from South Carolina, I'm 36, married, and have 3 kids. I'm a stay at home mom, so I have plenty of time for books. I also enjoy video games, and watch entirely too much tv!

I know I feel the same. Ok so I decided I am going to read JR WARD apparently it is amazing from evrything I am reading on goodreads and everywhere else. My only hope is the rest of the series hold up. It is on to page 1 for me. Exciting. Sometimes I find I would rather read than work lately My favorite is sitting at on the board walk with the warm sun and I might add cool breeze blowing and reading. Ok my husband should be next to me playing on his blackberry of course!

sucks you right in!
Hi everyone! I have been lurking on here for a little while, thought I should introduce myself. I am 32 years old, married, and a current SAHM to two kids. My daughter is in first grade, and my son is 3 years old. I was working full-time up until August, so now that I have more time on my hands, I have been reading more. I have loved PNR for years now. My other faves include urband fantasy, regular fantasy, sci-fi, contemporary romance, mysteries and thrillers. Some of my fave authors are Sherrilyn Kenyon, Patricia Briggs, Kelley Armstrong, and Larissa Ione.
Liv wrote: "Tall_tails wrote: "I'm actually studying Graphic Design now and really want to get into Book Cover designing :)"Funny you should mention Graphic Design...I teach high school Graphic Design (ePublishing, Desktop Publishing, whatever you wanna call it). My kids have to create a final project and I always tell them to try and recreate their favorite book covers, or even attempt to make a new cover for their favorite book. It seems to be a fun project for them.
Hello all,I'm Ivy
I am a voracious reader. I come from a long line of reader. I live in the Chicago land area with my sexy rock-star boyfriend and our kitty "Piper". We like to visit the local Library because we ran out of shelf space. I read anything he likes non fiction.
I work a bar at night and have hours like the undead. I always carry a book with me. Like my purse is not heavy enough without it.*shrugs*
Anyhow, I am excited about the April book challenge. I already committed.*woohoo*

I read Sianim #1 and just finished Sianim #2.. I guess I have to wait for Sianim #3 to be re-released (later this year I think?) I read the Durog Duology... I just started Cry Wolf today (the next after the Alpha & Omega novella in On The Prowl) about Charles, son of the Marrok that you hear a little bit about in the Moon Called series, and Anna, a wolf who thinks she's submissive but is really an "omega" wolf which is apparently very special. I'm really enjoying Patricia Briggs' worlds and magic.

I love that series too can't wait for silver borne also, just finished Bone Crossed last week and OMG I am salivating for the next, so many books getting ready to release. gonna be like a kid at christmas time.
I can relate to Mercedes, I think that is why I like this series so much.

Silver Borne next week, Kim Harrison April 6 (hardcover already out, waiting for Kindle edition), Charlaine Harris May 4... I'm SO ready for more Cassandra Palmer from Karen Chance, but don't know when to expect that. She just gave us Dorina #2 in January, but I want more of that, too. I'm sure there's lots more coming out soon that I just haven't discovered yet.

She also has written some Sci Fi novels that I've read and really liked.

Really I just started Dark Lover. Big change from Mary Janice Davidson. I am having a little whiplash from the humor from the past eight books. So which do you prefer humor or dark

I kind of have a love/hate relationship with J.R Ward, I like the main plot but I'm not a fan of the one liners or all of the slang she uses and I'm only half way through her latest book. So I like humor and dark as long as it's well distributed.
Quinn wrote: "Robin wrote: "Quinn wrote: "Robin wrote: "Quinn wrote: "Robin wrote: "Quinn wrote: "Hello all!Quinn Keitt here author of the Vamp Rom Novel Crimson Stained

I feel like i need post it notes to keep rack of all the sub plots Plus I need humor or bantor between characters it makes it more real to me. After all it is a PNR book so obviously it is fiction but it makes the characters come to life more for me anyway

O.M.G I so know what you mean! And as an author I hate to have to keep coming down on JR Ward, but I am also a reader and I bought this book thinking the best but instead I'm getting confused, irritated and mad. I'll eventually finish Lover Avenged...I just don't know when. >.<
Hi all paranormal romance lovers!Like many people, it all started with Twilight. Twilight has opened a door that I never considered opening before, since then, I have fallen in love and have immersed myself into the books of this genre. I live in Sydney and I’m a (almost) 25 yr old strata manager and I find myself browsing at the children’s/teens section for these books (love it). Reading about ordinary mortal romances just don’t do it for me, vamps, weres, faeries, and other dead and soulless monsters and creatures on the other hand do!!
My fav novels so far is the Sookie Stackhouse novels, Mortal Instruments, Twilight novels (ofcourse), and recently one which I couldn’t put down – Ink Exchange novels.
I’m a series fanatic, so please feel free to suggest any other books to get lost in!

Also try Kresley Cole, Sherrilyn Kenyon (though her writing can be great or only fair), Gena Showater (her stories lack the depth of Ward or Cole), Jeaniene Frost, and Eileen Wilks (her stories sometimes become very complicated).
One of my good friends when I was in college was from Finland. He used to tell me about the cold! I can't imagine. If you're ever cold in winter, please join us here in Houston, TX. It's rarely below about 16 celsius. This winter was a bit of an exception, but seriously, it's hot here.
Enjoy your reading!

I've read all those and I just got fragile eternity to read in the ink exchange books.

Maybe the answer is not to think so much... I have to work on that
Woops, forgot to introduce myself. I'm a married mother of two. Until the economic downturn, I worked at one of the big 4 accounting firms as an accountant. Now, I'm a stay at home mom.My Texan moved me to Very North Houston (my friends joke it's South Dallas) where we've lived for over 10 years.
I'm married to my very own V from BDB. He does have differences, he's not a tatooed precog with S&M preferences. But he does have the hair, attitude, and computer proficiency! ; )
We have two beautiful children 8 & 4 who light up our world.
I've been reading PNR since '95. I didn't become completely addicted until '04 when I nearly stopped reading other forms of fiction.
Glad to have some friends who share my personal obsession.

Hey. I'm Brianna and a Sophmore in College. When i am not doing Homework or working on a progject, i love to read and write. One of my favorite books is Sex and the Single Vampire by Katie McAlister and Night of the Huntress by Kathyrn Smith.

I'm close to the end of Cry Wolf now... will probably finish tonight and move on to the next one. Karen Chance also has good books... Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series... Charlaine Harris...I even enjoyed The Host by Stephanie Meyer. I'm looking forward to the next one (hoping the rumored next one ends up being real). I know there are tons more, but those come to mind because I've read them recently.
BTW, I got into reading again through Twilight, too. It seems to be a pretty popular first look into paranormal romance.
Heather wrote: "Crystal wrote: "Hi Everyone, Im new to this site my names Crystal and actually have only been reading since last year!!! I have to admit I kept thinking I should be reading best selling books or from some cerbral book club. Then it occurred to me I want a story to entertain me not really teach me or inspire me to be a better me. So then I rediscovered PNR. I think romance has a bad rep b/c of Harlequin romances I don't judge any form of reading any more. It certainly can't be worse than what's on TV.
Robin wrote: "I kept thinking I should be reading best selling books or from some cerbral book club..."Ha! I keep thinking I should be reading the Oprah book list or something. (And I have to admit that I did enjoy Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth and the sequel World Without End -- they were recommendations from my sister.) But I get lost in the PNR worlds, which is A-OK with me!
Hi Group - My name is Jasmine, I'm 32, and call Brooklyn, NY home. I've recently immersed myself in reading everything and anything once my 6 year old took up full fledged reading. We now make stops to the library twice a week. I am a married (newlywed) mother of one. I work full time and have a 45 min commute to and from work - so this is where I get all my reading in. However, I've been known to finish a really good book in a night - forgoing all other responsibilities and needs.
One of my greatest book reading accomplishments is that I read the entire Charlaine Harris/Southern Vampire series (8 books) in 7 days. I've re-read this series twice now, taking more time to read each book thoroughly. Team Eric baby!

Have you ever rea Undead Unwed series by Mary Janice Davidson if you like humor, romance bantor and Vamps it's worth looking at. Right now I am reading JR WARD Dark Lover yummy it is very good
Wow that's a really cool idea. I wish I'd been able to do something like that in High School as an assignment. :)I'm sure you'd get a lot that really improve their book covers :)
That's wat got me interested. I know that I've read books before and thought, 'Wow and amazing book but it would catch more peoples attention if it looked like this or had this..." haha.
