Captive by Jex Lane is the first book in a really good paranormal MM series, but it's very dark. Some parts were really hard for me to read, but the story sucks you in. If you're in the mood for more of a heartwarming MM paranormal romance, you should check out Wolfsong. I have a ton of non-paranormal recos if you ever need any! Happy reading!

Hi, welome.

One of my top picks overall is TJ Klune. He writes a vast spectrum of MM stories from ridiculous and campy fun to angsty to hard hitting and he also writes across genres... contemporary, fantasy, sci-fi and romance.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune You could try his latest which is a funny and whimsical fantasy that is also a big squishy hug in a book, or my favourite
Wolfsong (Green Creek #1) by T.J. Klune (mentioned above) which is a beautiful and heartfelt high angst slow burn chidhood friends to lovers found family werewolf/witchy small town revenge tale...
Murmuration by T.J. Klune or this odd sci-fi story set in 1950's middle America... or you could go for any number of his other books, whatever tickles your fancy!

Kerrelyn Sparks (kerrelynsparks) Hi, everyone,
I've been lurking around for a while, enjoying the conversations, but thought I might as well introduce myself. I'm Kerrelyn Sparks, author of the Love at Stake series (vamps and shifters) and two historicals done with HarperCollins. More recently, I've been doing The Embraced series with St. Martin's Press and Kensington. The Embraced series is fantasy romance, best described as Game of Thrones meets The Princess Bride. If you go to the Giveaway section, you can usually find some free books being given away by Kensington. Next book, coming out Aug. 25th, is The Siren and the Deep Blue Sea. It's a pleasure to meet you all, and I hope you are staying safe and healthy.

I'm really looking forward to joining in the conversations everyone is having and for finding some new books to put on the TBR pile.

Head butler for 3 cats... LOVE IT!!! I'm head butler for two very different torties!

message 2326: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 1 comments Hi everyone! My name is Ashley and I've been a HUGE fan of paranormal romance since I was in high school and let's be honest, the books only get sexier as you get older.
My go-to books are anything with shifters, vampires, or any dark creature that goes bump in the night. Recently, I've been getting into sci-fi romances, which I never thought I would but I'm enjoying the differences! I've used GoodReads before a lot when trying to find a new book to read but I've never thought about joining the community, but talking about steamy scenes and just having conversations about these amazing novels is definitely something I feel I'm missing.
Feel free to reach out with any recommendations you may have or just general conversation too! Nice to meet you all and I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe!

I also write.

Anyway, hoping to find lots of books to read. So far everyone has been so great about recs and I'm so looking forward to finding more books to add to the reading list.

Hi all. My name is Phil. I am working on a dramatic romance series, Splattering Yet Endearing.

Porma, a recent college dropout, can’t move in with his parents. But Iteni allows him to move in with her, at her home in Maine. He’s stoked to get to be with his high school crush—and she’s also a college dropout! She’s a 10 outta 10, a short and perfect blonde girl—to Porma anyways.

Something called Widowing is appearing in the news. But why does Porma care, when he can possibly get with Iteni? So what if Widowing kills one person in couples, or that there’s no known way to treat it? He has multiple part time jobs to do—including limo work…for female passengers.

But Iteni’s been biting herself—with her teeth on her bare skin, in her closed bathroom. She wants to go to the doctor with Porma.

The leaves are falling around her home, and Porma hopes she falls for him.

Amy Bernstein | 1 comments Hi, I'm Amy. I write dystopian and fantasy fiction, but am now plunging into paranormal romance. But, uh, am I breaking too many rules? No witches, vampires, werewolves, etc. Just an archaeologist with powers she doesn't understand, a guy who wants to exploit her abilities for profit, and a mysterious spirit guide who helps her understand her identity--and becomes her Mr. Right. Any comps out there to help me? Thanks, hive mind!

Becca Fox | 38 comments Hi all!
My name is Becca Fox and I'm a socially awkward introvert who loves to read and write, binge watch crime-solving shows and anime, and play videogames next to my gammer husband. I also love to bake, and plan trips I hope to one day take. I have two kids under the age of two, which means that my house truly is as messy as you're imagining. I'm currently devouring A Vow so Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer! Grey and Lia Mara forever <3

message 2333: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 29 comments My name is Melissa and I love pretty much all books, but urban fantasy is my favorite escape. I started with TV melodramas (True Blood, Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, etc.) and then started Kelly Armstrong’s otherworld series, discovered urban fantasy was a genre, and never looked back. I like complex female protagonists and a dash of humor. I dislike rape as a plot device (or any non consensual relationships even if the “consent” is some mystical attraction they can’t resist) and protagonists who are too dumb to survive with anything but nonsensical luck (I.e. an author not so subtly manipulating the plot). I especially love it when a character naturally matures and develops during a series (rather than just conveniently developing magical powers to get out of sticky situations). My favorite authors are Debra Dunbar, Melissa Olson, Kelly Armstrong, and Ilona Andrews.

message 2334: by Ilona (new)

Ilona (Inkmates Read) | 1 comments Hi All, I am a 30-year-old Canadian criminal defence attorney turned Library and Information Science student and reading fanatic. I have been told on multiple occasions that I have a severe resting bitch face, but I am actually pretty shy until you get to know me. Once out of my shell I am fiercely loyal, stubborn, sarcastic and have a great sense of humour (dirty or otherwise as long as its not at someone else's expense).

While I read almost anything, I have a special place in my heart for paranormal romances and fantasy in general (both YA and adult). I also prefer books with a kick-ass female protagonist that can save herself, but sometimes welcomes help from the male counterpart.

The love of this genre probably stems from finding Laurell K Hamilton and the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series many years ago, which I loved (and am re-reading). More recently I finished the Phoenix Pack series by Suzanne Wright and adored every book!

Anyone looking for friends with similar interests, hit me up!

message 2335: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Ginkel Hi, I'm Kimberly. I primarily write historical fantasy and sci-fi. I read all genres, including non- fiction, so I'm open to any recommendations.

Let's see ... I live in the Midwest. I'm a CIO, which means I specialize in IT (coding and databases), accounting, and technical writing. I'm hella aware of how boring that sounds, but I love it.

My favorite authors are Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, L.M. Montgomery, Joe Abercrombie, Connie Willis, Thomas Hardy, Jane Austen, and Jasper Fforde.

I would love reviews on my first novel, In the Sleep of Death. It's historical fantasy and has been described as "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell" meets "The Ten Thousand Doors of January."

message 2336: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte (tapititytap) | 5 comments Hii my name is Charlotte. I love urban fantasy and romance books- I’m a huge sucker for romance in general- and I love to create urban fantasy worlds of my own.

At the moment I’m a student which takes up a lot of my time from reading the books I love and writing what I want to create. School is literally the bane of my existence lol but I’ll get through it.

My favourite authors include Jaymin Eve, Cora Reilly, Rick Riordan and Jane Austen but also so many more. I’m literally a whore for a solid sexy romance (preferably mf or ff, sometimes I feel mm is a little bit fetishy but power to you if you read it) and if I find an author I love I will binge read their entire bibliography.

Please please please give me recommendations (preferably books written by women, I seem to relate more to a story that way xx) of any romance you’ve loved personally.

Xoxo

Lilli Readalot | 2 comments Hi everyone! Im an very experienced book devourer - AKA devourer of books. I carry that title With pride. Im not a native English writer/speaker but I prefer to read English and have for the last 20 years. Hence my biggest issue with writing is doing so in my native language - it is so not so dull. So un for-filling. Hence I am considering becoming a professional book reviewer. It would be amazing - helping other readers finding good new books and helping authors catch other readers eyes. I might even get to finish one book of my own.

Hi Lilli Welcome! I am also not a native English speaker. What is your native language if I may ask? Mine is Dutch, not the pretties language in the world. I also read only English have done so for a long time. So your comment sounds so familiar!

You might like the Discovery of Witches trilogy by Deborah Harkness. It starts in modern day but they go back in time repeatedly. A Discovery of Witches

message 2344: by Sue (last edited Sep 14, 2021 01:23PM) (new)

Sue McKerns | 10 comments Hi, All. I am Sue McKerns and here's my intro. I got hooked on the original Lost in Space tv series as a kid. By hooked I mean I would play hooky from after-school bible class to get in my Lost In Space. I, age 8, would also sit at the top of the stairway to the second floor and peek around the corner and down into the living room when an episode of UFO was on. Later, I would spend my lunch money on paperback Science Fiction and Fantasy books. So that's my origin story and I've had an SFF obsession ever since (40+ years now). My family never understood :( but that never slowed my interest. Then I eventually realized I was also reading Urban Fantasy, and here I am.

I got a practical job in a law firm (not a lawyer) and that's been me for the last 30 years, with SFF on the side. Kinda boring. But then I discovered beta reading. I can't write a thing, but I've found that I can help writers along the way, and I'm always impatient to get started on the next project. After all this time I've finally found a way to contribute to the SFF I love. I'm here to talk SFF, but if anyone needs a paid beta reader focused on SFF (as opposed to SFF being at the bottom of a list of genre options starting with rom-com), check out my profile.

P.C. Stevens | 2 comments Hello everyone! I’m Paige (pen name P.C. Stevens). I started reading romance in my early 20’s and started writing it in my late 20’s, though I’ve only just recently published my work. I write dark, steamy paranormal romance, and I read a variety of sub-genres.

Romance takes up a solid portion of my life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! I’m looking forward to finding new authors/books, and possibly gaining a few readers.

message 2346: by Ariel (new)

Ariel (la_sirenita) | 5 comments Hi! I’m Ariel and I’ve been reading paranormal, fantasy, and SF romance for a bit now. I’ve reread the lovely Grace Draven’s Radiance a few times and I’d recommend that one to Charlotte (post 4 months ago). Flawless. Loved it.

Ann Aguirre’s Grimspace was more SF than romance, but the thread was beautifully written. Juliette Marillier’s Heart’s Blood was also a gorgeous fantasy romance that I adored.

Oh and while waiting for a used copy of Carolyn Crane’s third installment in the Disillusionists series to finally arrive on my doorstep after an hour of hunting (cool concept, the lead is slightly annoying, but other characters were great), I finished the Stone Guardian, which was delightfully fun, but not on the same level as Draven’s Radiance (no offense to Danielle Monsch!).

Marcelle Valentine | 20 comments Hi everyone my name is Marcelle. I have been an avid reader since I was a teenager. My favorite genres are Paranormal Romance, Horror, Dark Fantasy, and Sci-Fi. I am not opposed to a really great thriller I just normally gravitate to PR.

I wrote my first book in my twenties (never published) which was a horror story and then started writing again not long ago. I just released my first book in a series I am working on (surprise, surprise it's a Paranormal Romance) and the second one will be released soon.

I joined this group a little while ago and I really have enjoyed reading some of the older posts.

Thanks for having me and happy reading
