Interesting. Well, there is more romance in book 2 if I can ever finish writing and editing it. Right now my pen name romance works come first!

B. Hughes-Millman (bhughes-millman) | 2 comments Hello everyone!
I'm an author of Paranormal Romance who likes to read in that genre. I want to see more of what others are reading in this group. Currently belong to another book club on Goodreads that's outside of my writing genre but within my area of interest. I'm looking forward to see what others are reading.

message 2203: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome B. Do you have a website we can check out? I'd love to see what you're writing.

message 2204: by Olivia (new)

Olivia | 1 comments Hey everyone!

I'm Olivia and 19 years old, studying English Literature at university. I love alllll kinds of romance (especially angsty/dramatic romances) and I always seem to find myself reading paranormal romances because of this! I love the 'Sweet Evil' series amongst others but I really want to find other books, and more friends on GR that also love a good romance books as a lot of my friends on here are inactive!

Can't wait to get chatting with everyone about our favourite romances and hopefully get some good recommendations - feel free to add me as a friend if you are interested in chatting/following each others reading journeys and reviews :)

message 2205: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Olivia. If you haven't read the Psy/Changling series by Nalini Singh, it is wonderful. I would also suggest bookbub. You sign up for free, click on your favorite genre, and they send daily offers of books for free or very low prices. I know money can be an issue when going to school. This is a great affordable way to buy books.

message 2207: by Gwen (new)

Gwen | 6 comments Hi everyone! I am Gwen and I am pretty sure I wrote an introduction but technology sometimes gets the best of me. I started reading m/m by chance in a book with a side mm romance and the next in the series was said couple. It was intriguing to me at the time, now I find the romance sweet and sexy. I read contemporary, paranormal (I ❤️ dragons and vampires), some very light BDSM and now mpreg. I am glad I found a group with the same likes as me.

message 2208: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Gwen. If you love dragon shifters I would suggest you try Terry Bolryder. She writes great dragon books. The characters are fun and very sexy. She has series that are one on one relationships and menage a trois. They are really good series.

C.L. Hi! I'm CL and I've been a reader of paranormal fantasy for as long as I can remember. Even if I go away from it for a while, I find myself coming back to vampires and witches, and anything supernatural, and I can't seem to write anything that doesn't include it in some way. :) Apart from that, though, my interests include cooking, walking, and making crafts.

Welcome to the group! I too love paranormal fantasy, all things vampire, witches, and demons!

message 2218: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome C.L. I've been a long time paranormal fan as well. It started when I was quite young and read a book called No Flying In The House. But it was the Hobbit and Lord of The Rings that caught me for life. I hope you like it here.

message 2221: by Lila (new)

Lila Sky | 3 comments Hi everyone! So I've finally decided to dip my toes into the Goodreads groups and boy am I blown away by this community. I didn't realise how amazing it would be to be a part of this.

I'm Lila Sky, hopelessly in love with romance books, with a very special place in my heart reserved for paranormal novels. I love losing myself in books and the worlds they bring to life.

I have recently published my first book, an erotic, fantasy/paranormal romance, and I'm stoked.

It was such an amazing experience and I'm so proud and happy to have been able to bring my own magical world to life.

I'm really happy to be a part of this community and look forward to building great relationships with all of you!

message 2222: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Lila. Can you give us a website to check out your work? I love finding new authors. I hope you really enjoy it here. We have a great group of people, who genuinely love books.

SL Gibson (TTFN121) | 12 comments Hello, Everyone

Firstly, thank you PR&UF for having your group open so all who wish can join. Reading through the introductions, people feel really happy to be part of this group.

I'm SL Gibson, a new IA who has just published her first ebook (PN shape-shifter romance). I am from London, England. I love a range of genre which I dip in and out of including PNR - I love shape-shifters and big guys so its tigers, bears, and dragons for me. I also enjoy erotica, fantasy, thrillers, suspense and murder mystery.

I hope to enjoy and take part in this community, it definitely feels like the right place to be.

This is my first book and I am very much new to the world of self-publishing. I am loving the passion of the Indie authors I have come across (new and established) and am very much enjoying this journey. Thank you in advance, if you decide to take the time to explore my book.

Stephanie | 1 comments Hi all. Just wanted to pop by and say hello! I’m a book blogger from Canada currently reading -City of Brass and loving it. What’s everyone loving right now? Any tips for faster reading?

message 2227: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Stephanie. I can't say about reading faster, but getting books fast is great on Amazon. I have a fire kindle and it downloads whatever I buy in seconds. I never have to look through a bookstore or wait for the mail. It's fabulous. And I read a lot, so it's very convenient.

Troy Tang | 11 comments Hello, everyone! My name's Troy, and it's a pleasure to meet you all. I normally write straight-ahead fantasy/SF, and don't read any romance at all. This came back around to bite me when my first novel - unreleased as of now - became a dimension-hopping fairy-tale romance for absolutely no reason. (My doctors are still working to diagnose the cause.)

Which is why I'm here, mostly, because it was fun, and I'd like to find out what other people enjoy about romance, magical or not. Great to be here, and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!

message 2229: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Troy. I rarely read just straight romance. I prefer PRN, but do make exceptions at times. I think the reason PRN is so popular is that it takes the readers to a new and different world, an lets them experience what life and love might be like there. To imagine a world with shifters, vampires, fey, sentient aliens, etc. that interact in the most intimate ways with humans is intriguing. Also, I find that authors who wright about these worlds almost always lack bigotry. The characters are all different races, religions, sexual orientations, etc. and it's all just a normal part of life. I like this inclusiveness, and the feeling that we can truly have a world where people are not judged by who they are but rather by what they do.

message 2230: by Troy (last edited Jun 21, 2018 04:01PM) (new)

Troy Tang | 11 comments Hi Elizabeth, thanks for the response. There's definitely that element of a new and fascinating world there, isn't it? And I can see why so many readers would want to imagine what love in that world might feel like.

I'd love to start a thread asking what PRN and fantasy romance readers enjoy about the genre. Would the PRN subsection be the best place to do that?

Yes I believe so. And I imagine you'll get some great activity. The people on here are really engaged, and they have terrific ideas.

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 398 comments Hi Troy [waves heartily]. Just inviting myself to the really interesting convo you have going on here.

Firstly, I have to say that "a dimension-hopping fairy-tale romance" sounds super interesting to me. No need for a doctors prognosis, you simply got the "it's got a mind of its own" bug!

Romance (love) is what makes the world go round, well various forms of it anyway. Reproduction is a major side effect of romance, (but not just of romance which I also understand fully) and this is what ensures that humanity survives. For this reason alone, I fail to comprehend why romance gets so much stick in the book world. Yes, some of it is less than stellar, but then the same is true across the board, no matter what people say.

I like the supernatural creatures (especially shifters) aspect of UF and PNR in particular because the world is almost the same as ours but with a little extra spice. For me, it allows a sense of realism within the fantastical which allows me to escape real life whilst still experiencing it to some degree.

I would welcome a different thread to speak more on this subject as I have loads to say and maybe a few questions of my own.

Hey Kitty. I never thought of the idea that romance brings the common and not (maybe) possible together, but I like that thought. I do love PRN, but not when the romance feels "forced". I like it to flow with the story, even if it isn't the central part of the story. I like the shifter best myself. I especially like dragons, bears, and any kind of big cat.

message 2234: by Troy (new)

Troy Tang | 11 comments Hi Kitty, thanks for the welcome! I'm glad you found my novel idea interesting, and I'd love to send you an ARC if possible - if you want, you can send me a PM and we can work things out from there! It's quite innocent and chaste, though, so there's that going against it if you like more steamy stuff. ;)

I guess we should start a new thread post-haste! I'm really excited to hear what you romance aficionados have to say!

J. Dorner (j_lenni_dorner) | 1 comments Hey all! I'm J Lenni Dorner. I belong to the Lenni-Lenape tribe of Native Americans. (My own ancestors managed to stay on our original lands, which is why I'm Pennsylvania instead of Oklahoma, Wisconson, or Canada.) I grew up listening to the myths and legends of the elders.

Seven random things about me:

1) The Walking Dead Character I am most like is Daryl Dixon.
2) I like cats, and I dislike people who say that males can't like cats.
3) I grew up eating Creamed Chipped Beef at least once a week for breakfast.
4) I support the #WeNeedDiverseBooks movement.
5) Guilty TV pleasure= How I Met Your Mother
6) #InSixWords Reader, SpecFic Writer, Debut Author Interviewer
7) I parallel parked a horse and buggy.

One of my goals for 2018 is to read and review 8 Speculative Fiction books (such as Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy).

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 398 comments Hi J. Wow what a unique and cool intro!

Some questions are raised immediately in my mind!

I am TOTALLY with you on your points 2 & 4, but I refuse to name anything as my Guilty 'anything' pleasure, I just like what I like, no apologies.

"read and review 8 Speculative Fiction books (such as Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy)" EASY PEASY once you get started!

message 2243: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome J. You certainly sound like an interesting person. I expect you will start some awesome discussions. BTW I and my husband love cats and dogs. I find no sexism in the animal lover culture.

message 2244: by Tiera (new)

Tiera McMillian (hawtmess) | 7 comments Hi I’m Tiera, relatively new to this group and just realized I never introduced myself. I read a lot! A lot a lot! I love seeing what everyone else is reading and their reviews and opinions on books I’ve read. I’ve been on a PNR kick for a while now, one because I love it and 2 because KU seems a little biased and that’s all that pops up on my recommended feed! I love strong snarky FMCS and good follow through on plot lines! I hate when I start a series end up loving it and then realize there are 3+ more books in the series not yet released and then....I have to wait!

message 2245: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Tiera wrote: "Hi I’m Tiera, relatively new to this group and just realized I never introduced myself. I read a lot! A lot a lot! I love seeing what everyone else is reading and their reviews and opinions on book..."

Welcome Tiera. I agree, it's a special kind of torture to have to wait for a book in a series you love. It's even worse when you have to wait for it to go down in price. But I've found some great older series through this site. And I've found some new authors who are self publishing at reasonable prices. I hope you like it here as much as I do.

message 2246: by Megan (new)

Megan Giles | 1 comments Hi! My name is Megan and I just joined the group! Love it read paranormal romance books and could you some friends on Goodreads who can recommend some good books. Thanks in advance

message 2247: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Megan. I've been on this site for over a year. It's great, and I've gotten really good advice on books, series, and authors. Right now I've been reading a lot of Zoe Chant. But I have a huge list of authors I really enjoy. Do you have a favorite type of PNR you like (such as shifters, vampires, angels, etc.)? I know that the people here will have interesting finds for you.

message 2248: by Sara (new)

Sara Gates | 2 comments Hey, my name's Sara. I just joined. Looking to get some good recommendations for Paranormal romance. I'm also a writer and just published my first Paranormal Romance book. I'd be interested in talking to any Shifter romance fans about what they look for in a book as well.

message 2249: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Sara. I've been reading a lot of Zoe Chant recently. I love PNR, and my favorites are those that have strong female characters, steamy sex scenes, and witty humor. I also like some unexpected twists in the storyline, but only if it feels natural not forced. I hope you enjoy yourself here, it's a great place for discussions. And leave your info on the book you wrote. I've found a couple excellent writers on this site. It you have a website to go to that would be great to list.
