I started reading that series, but haven't had much personal reading time. I have enjoyed what I've read so far.

Cassie Clare has another series, The Dark Artifices, set in the shadowhunter world but in the future. It's excellent too, so far. Happy readings!

Timelord Iain Name's Iain... another person who joined because it kept showing up in my feed (because Bunnycore joined apparently)...

Live in the Midwest, USA... work nights... go through fazes of reading a lot, and other times of gaming or watching TV/movies... I've really grown to love listening to audiobooks when I don't have time to read on my Kindle...

All the reading I've done in the past few years, I've had to branch out... Read almost everything I can find in Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance... dabble in Steampunk, Dieselpunk, Contemporary Romance, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, etc...

Grown picky in my PnR/UF reads since I can't stand the way fated mates sometimes leads to Alpha Dickheads... and angst and love triangles are the one sure-fire way to become DNF...

I use "..." alot to break up thoughts instead of periods... hello

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome bunny and lain. Bunny I also loved paper books. But I've become unable to walk very much so I find my kindle to be a life saver. Plus I joined bookhub (free) and get a daily email that allows me to buy books for free or sometimes a buck. I love it. Welcome to both of you.

Christine | 5 comments I found your group and joined for help finding my next favorite book!
I am not a one genre girl, if a book is good I will read it. I use the 50 page policy, if I can't get into it by page 50 I move on. Life is too short to read a bad book.
I haven't read much paranormal romance, but the ones I have I enjoyed. The problem with the genre is too many YA novels are mixed in and I don't like most YA novels.
I am not an author, but always wanted to be one on account of my childhood love of books. I took a break from reading while I had 3 little ones at home. When my 4th son was born ( my older 3 grown) I started taking him to the library and began reading again myself.
I couldn't imagine my life without books !
We have two cats and two dogs and live in Ohio. I am a homemaker.

Welcome. A great author to start with, in my opinion, for prn is Nalini Singh. Her Psy/Changling series is one of my favorites. And the early books can be bought cheep on Amazon. I hope this is helpful.

Kayci | 9 comments Hello everyone :)
I'm Kayci and I'm an Urban Fantasy and Paranormal reader/writer/lover!
I have two little boys ( 3 yrs and 1 yr old) so my kindle is my little escape from the madness!!
I love Karen Marie Moning, Keri Aruthur, Kresley Cole, Kelley Armstrong... the list is endless!

Lovely to meet you all :)

message 2113: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Kayci. Have you gotten anything published, or published on your own? I really enjoy finding new authors. If you have books or stories available I would be interested in trying them. I have access of amazon through my kindle fire.

message 2114: by Kayci (new)

Kayci | 9 comments Thankyou for the warm welcome Elizabeth :)

I do currently have two books out, with a third book due for release later this year. My first book was released back in 2012 when I was 18, which I suddenly realised was 5 years ago!
I took some time away from writing to have my two beautiful little boys and my new book, Mistress of the Crossroads by Kayci Reid , was released on amazon in March, which I am very excited about.

I didn't know there was such a rule. I've gotten info on several other authors here so I don't think people mind. If you get some flack let them know I was the one who asked. Mia culpa.

message 2120: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome S.T. This is a great place to get recommendations. What kind of series do you like? My favorite is shifters, although I also like vampire, fae, angel, and just about everything paranormal except zombies. My favorite shifter series is the Psy/Changling series by Singh. I hope you enjoy your time here. Also, let us know if you have any books available to buy, especially for amazon kindle (that's how I get my reading material).

message 2126: by Chelon (new)

Chelon | 5 comments Hello everyone!
I've been on Goodreads for a while but I have just began socializing. I love my paranormal romance, along with dark romances but I will read anything if it catches my eye. I love sci-fi and although I won't always admit it but I'm obsessed with the Six Million Dollar Man (to the point where my daughter bought me the Oscar Goldman doll for mothers day), and Dune. I do a lot of ARC reading from NetGalley and authors who send me their books, so I always have my kindle in hand.

message 2127: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Chelon. I love my kindle too. I am signed up at Bookbub and often get offers on kindle for free or very inexpensive books in the genre I like. I loved Dune (the book not the movie. The movie was awful). I watched the Six Million Dollar Man too, as well as the Bionic Women LOL. My favorite part was the bionic German shepherd. I hope you like it here. I've found a lot of good referrals, as well as fun discussions.

Clara I (claraizz) | 12 comments Hi everyone,
My name is Lara, I'm from Dallas, TX, married for 14 years, and have an amazing 12 year old daughter who is a heart transplant survivor. I am a stay at home mom. I love reading, and I read almost all Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy because it feels like such an escape from reality, and with all my family has been through, sometimes I feel like I really need that. Sometimes I read Contemporary Romance, but usually only if its a book written by one of my Paranormal Romance authors, like for example when Lara Adrian (Midnight Breed Series) did the 100 Series. I'd say what really got me reading Paranormal Romance, and reading in general, is from when I was watching the TV show True Blood. I loved the show so much I just wanted more of the genre, so I started reading books in the same genre. Some of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, then others in the Paranormal Romance genre, then I was hooked! Now I never stop reading! I barely ever watch TV now, though I do love Supernatural, and I am checking out the new Midnight, TX. Some of my favorite authors are Nalini Sinigh, Heather Walden-Killough, Dannika Dark, Kresley Cole, J.R, Ward, to name a few. Right now I'm just starting Burn for me (Hidden Legacy #1) by Ilona Andrew - my first book by this author - I've heard its awesome - I'm excited to start it! See you all around the group and feel free to friend me!

Thank you for the welcome! I write fantasy, paranormal, fiction based work. I'm not tied to one in particular, though right now the current series I am working is a paranormal fantasy (with elements of romance)! I have other books I have started and are waiting for my attention to be returned that are more strictly urban supernatural/paranormal.

I would be interested in reading some of what you've written. I have found a couple of writers that I enjoy through this site. Does your PRN writing encompass shifters, vampire, fae, witches, etc. or is it specific to one area?

Mikayla Elliot (mikaylaelliot) | 12 comments My current book(s) include vampires, shifters, and others that I am holding out on until after the future books are released! You can get a free copy of Snow now on SmashWords, Barnes & Noble, or Apple/iCloud!

message 2141: by Pokelon (last edited Sep 08, 2017 11:09AM) (new)

Pokelon | 16 comments Hi Everyone. I joined this week, but didn't have time to come back. I'm a fervent reader. I love fantasy books, but also detectives and thrillers. I like a bit of romance, but it shouldn't be the most important part of the book. More like the background story.
Some of my favourite writers; CJ Daugherty, Karin Slaughter, Lee Child.

I'm 47 years old and I live in France near Paris with my 3 kids, 2 dogs and 2 cats. Any questions, just shout!

message 2142: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Pokelon. I also like a range of genre. When I was young I couldn't get enough of Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christi. I think I 've read every one of those books at least twice. I hope you enjoy this site. It's is a great place for discussions and referrals.

message 2143: by Pokelon (new)

Pokelon | 16 comments Thanks Elizabeth. I read all Agatha Christie as well! :D

message 2144: by R.D. (new)

R.D. Coast (rdcoast) | 5 comments Hi Everyone,

First, you should know that I believe all puppies and dogs are angels.

Second, I love to read anything that will give me a thrill. As a child, I grew up watching horror movies with my cousins and escaping into the darker worlds of RL Stine and Christopher Pike in the public library.

In university, I was struck with the second of three waves of the stomach flu. A friend brought a stack of books to read while I stayed in my bed recovering. That's when I first discovered Anita Blake. Although I no longer read the series, it was exciting to read about a kick-ass heroine set in a contemporary world filled with vampires, shapeshifters, and so much more.

Now, I've started to create and publish my own stories so I am looking to connect with other authors; but, above all, I am a reader. I look forward to connecting with others in the reading community.

Elizabeth and Pokelon: I love Agatha Christie, too. 'And Then There Were None' was my first (and favourite) novel of hers.

Welcome. I also believe that dogs and cats are blessings from the Creator. I love all animals. That's why I don't usually like books that have the animals die. Although I don't seen to have that problem with nasty people in books LOL. I would love to read some of what you've written. Can you put out a list of any books or short stories that I can get at Amazon. I do all my reading now on my Kindle. It's easier with my health problems, since I can't stand long enough to shop at a store. How I miss spending hours at a good book store just browsing.

message 2146: by R.D. (new)

R.D. Coast (rdcoast) | 5 comments Hi Elizabeth,

Lovely to meet you! I must admit I am partial to canines, although I think there is beauty in all animals.

And, of course, I am thrilled that you're interested in taking a look at my stories. If you have Kindle Unlimited, I have a short story titled 'After Dark: Road Trip' available for free download until Wednesday the 27th. My author page on Amazon: amazon.com/author/rdcoast

Yes, I also love the feeling of walking into a book store and discovering books. There is a welcoming magic that only a book store can hold.

Amanda Byrd | 11 comments Hi all! I just joined this group - literally, maybe 5 minutes ago. I'm a self-pub but I also read (who doesn't? Don't tell me, I might get upset). I write dark urban/paranormal and love reading when I actually have time. Right now my next novel and homework take all my time. Sleep? What's that? D&D was my first love book-wise. R.A. Salvatore is a hero of mine (and a truly amazing person!) I'm 36, live in Tampa, Florida, and am also working on my AA in Psychology - this is nuts, but it's never too late! It may be rough at times, but so worth it in the end (my friend just said the same thing about her crazy pregnancy, hmm). It's nice to "meet" everyone!

message 2150: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Amanda. My husband is a huge Salvatore fan. He has read everything he wrote. I hope you enjoy the conversations here. We have a great group of people. Some of them are authors as yourself. It's a wonderful place to get reviews, recommendations, and interesting topics to bat about.
