Luna Harlow Hi, I'm Luna, and I've been lurking here for a while. I love paranormal romance and urban fantasy and I don't get enough time to read as much of either as I'd like.

P.L. Rohe | 2 comments Hi everybody, I am so excited to get some good reading recommendations from this group. My favorite paranormal romance series is Karen Marie Moning's Faefever, but I also love Sherrilyn Kenyon, and the vampire stuff from J.R. WardJ.R. Ward. Right now I'm reading the Irin Chronicles, having trouble getting through them.

message 1906: by Laura (new)

Laura | 9 comments Hello everyone, I'm Laura and I'm so happy I've found a group dedicated to my two favorite genres. I read far more than I probably should and I've half fallen in love with most of the male leads from my fav series. So basically a bookworm who obesses over hunky bad boys, nothing odd there right?

message 1907: by Ellie (new)

Ellie Hi there,
I'm Ellie. I've been on Goodreads for a while, but am just starting to get involved. I really enjoy paranormal romance (all kinds of romance, really...) and urban fantasy. I'm looking forward to finding more great books to read!

message 1908: by Aden (new)

Aden Lewis | 2 comments Hello all, my name is Aden Lewis and I am a new author. With my first book Heart of the Pride Heart of the Pride by Aden Lewis of the Fur, Lust & Magic series. I will have the second one out by the end of April. I co-author these books with my friend Mary Leihsing.

Nini Church (goodreadscomnini_church) Hello Everyone, my name is Nini Church and I am thrilled to find this dedicated group in both my writing and reading genre. I am a new author and would love to review books for other new authors. I am also seeking reviews for my book - Jericho - and new friends!

message 1910: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Nina. I would love to hear your reviews of the books and authors here. I'm always looking for new finds:)

message 1911: by Katie (new)

Katie Jaros (katiejaros) | 33 comments Hi Nini! My name is Katie Jaros and I am also an author. I would totally be up for a book swap- I just published my first novel "Lost Souls" last October...I am always looking for new reads and new reviews! Let me know if you're interested-- looking forward to checking out your work.:)

message 1912: by Katie (new)

Katie Jaros (katiejaros) | 33 comments Wow! Just starting to read through this thread-- trying to get to know everyone-- quite the task with such a large group! Hi- I'm Katie Jaros, hailing from Seattle, WA. I am a mom of 3 wild and crazy girls, avid cat lover, and paranormal writer; working on book 2 of my "Lost Souls Trilogy" series right now. I am falling in love with the Goodreads community--like everyone here- I am a lifelong reader and I've been looking for a group like this for a long time. I'm a bit shy in real life-- working on that!--so it's nice to get to know people here who have similar interests in a chill environment. My current favorite series are Anne Bishop's "The Others", Kelley Armstrong's "Women of the Otherworld", "Vampire Academy"...and- not afraid to admit it- OBSESSED with "Twilight"..:) Haters gonna hate- I don't care! Really, I just love reading-- my dream right now is to split my day between writing/working in the morning and then reading in the afternoon-- along with living life and taking care of kids/house/etc. Other non-writing/reading hobbies include movies, hiking, and gardening....getting pumpkins to grow in my Pacific Northwest garden box is a life long goal of mine! Thanks for being welcoming- cheers.:)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Katie. I'm with you, I love to read. If I like a series it doesn't matter to me if others like it or not. Variety is the spice of life LOL.

Yes, Elizabeth--I don't know if it's the most efficient way to read- but I usually have at least 3 different books going at any given time...a YA, a general fiction, biography, and an urban fantasy...never know where my mood will take me!:) Thanks for the welcome.

message 1916: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi everyone!

I'm Adaline Chase, and I'm an avid romance reader and a budding romance writer (I have a fantasy mystery book published under the name Abbie Chandler). Anyways, I'm looking for people to follow and be "friends" with, so hit me up :)

message 1917: by Maria (new)

Maria | 3 comments Hey everyone :)

My name's Maria (though I also go by sirreadsalot on here), I am 23 and just started an internship. I love urban fantasy, and I am always searching for new series with strong female characters.

Reading makes me super happy, but the past few years (in college) I haven't had much time/patience for it. Since this year I started again and reconnected with some old friends (Rachel Morgan from The Hollows, anyone?).

Favorite authors are Kim Harrison, Charlaine Harris, and Kelley Armstrong if I need a quick pick me up though I will read pretty much anything :)

It's a super large group, and I am happy to become part of it!

message 1918: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Maria. I came here with some favorite authors (still love them), but have found many new ones from referrals by people here. I've gotten a lot of great advice and found some terrific new series. One of my new favorites is Elizabeth Hunter. I hope that you enjoy this site as much as I have.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I am already browsing to some referrals and think I will be able to fill my summer with new books :D

message 1920: by Liza (new)

Liza Street (lizastreet) | 15 comments Hi everyone! I'm a writer living in California. I'm new to Goodreads but not to PNR. Two authors were my gateway drug--Kelley Armstrong & Kim Harrison. When I worked in a bookstore, Stolen and Every Which Way but Dead were in the white Booksense box (a box full of ARCs that came once a month and all my coworkers and I battled over) and I fell in love with them so fast. From there I went to Charlaine Harris and Jeaniene Frost and many others. I stepped away from PNR to read & write YA fantasy, but now I'm back into PNR for adults & am wondering what I've missed for the past five years. I'll be scrolling through looking for recs, and I'm really happy to be here. Looking forward to getting to know you!

message 1921: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Liza. Two writers you didn't mention that I think are excellent are Nalini Singh and Elizabeth Hunter. All of their series that I have read so far have been extremely enjoyable. Both authors are gifted at fleshing out the characters so that you really care about them and what happens to them. The story lines are great as well. I hope you find some new authors here that you enjoy, I know I have.

Thanks very much, Elizabeth! So, I've read one Nalini Singh, with the empath hooking up with the shapeshifter, the first in the Psy/Changeling series. It was good, but I've never been super into head/mind action, if that makes sense? Does she have a different series that you think I might like more?

I saw Elizabeth Hunter recommended elsewhere, & I'm adding her to my list. I also asked about JR Ward in a separate thread, so I'll start on the Black Dagger Brotherhood series soon. This group has been so great!

message 1923: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Singh has a series called Guild Hunter that is about angels. I would highly suggest giving the Psy/Changling series another shot. Most of the characters, as the series progresses, are shifters. There are more Psy and humans, but the shifters are the main thrust of the series, and they are sexy and appealing.

I haven't read the Black Dagger Brotherhood yet, but it's on my list. I've seen several recommendations for it, so I'm thinking it must be pretty good. I have a few books to finish before starting another series, so If you like it too let me know.

message 1924: by Liza (new)

Liza Street (lizastreet) | 15 comments I'll be sure to let you know what I think about Ward, & on your rec I'll try out Singh's Psy/Changeling books again. I did like the shifters in Book 1 very much, so if there's more of them, I'm in!

message 1925: by L. (new)

L. MacNaughton (lmacnaughton) | 4 comments Welcome Maria! If you enjoy reading fun urban fantasy with strong heroines -- and if it's not too forward of my to suggest my own book -- you might get a kick out of my upcoming novel IT HAPPENED ONE DOOMSDAY: kind of a rom-com with an apocalyptic twist.

I sincerely hope that I don't offend you or anyone else by plugging my own book in this thread! I'm just so excited because right now it's at 4.1 stars on Goodreads and almost 1000 to-reads.

Happy to send you a free review copy if you'd like one. Happy reading!

message 1926: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments I just finished reading the most current book in the Mystic Cove series by Tricia O'Malley. I'm now starting on her Isle of Destiny series. I've really enjoyed reading her books. I would give them a four out of five starts. The characters are engaging, the love stories are somewhat predictable but good, and the story line is fun. It's the kind of books you pick up for an easy fun read with little need for deep thought.

message 1928: by Victoria (new)

Victoria (victoriaclapton) | 21 comments Hello to all! I'm Victoria, and though I've been a member of this group for some time, I don't believe I've ever stopped in to just say hello.

I am a rabid reader, always looking for new characters and worlds to fall in love with, especially in the fantasy or paranormal genres.

When I'm not reading, I'm writing my own paranormal romances and managing my Etsy store.

Wishing everyone love and light!

message 1929: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments If I didn't catch you before, welcome. This is a great place for recommendations. I like to know a little more about your writings. What kind of stories do you write (i.e. shifter, vamp, angel, etc.), and are they available for buying yet?

message 1930: by Victoria (new)

Victoria (victoriaclapton) | 21 comments Hi Elizabeth!

Sure! I've written five books which are available on Amazon.

My latest book, The Binding, is a New Orleans vampire book that also has witches, Voodoo practitioners, a ghost, and a ton of New Orleans added in for flavor. As of right now, this is a stand alone book, but I've had enough interest that I'm working on a possible sequel.

I also have a trilogy, The Priestess and the Warrior, where the first two books, Awaken and Accept, are available. This is a paranormal romance that deal with magic, gods, and reincarnation. The third and final book, Avowal, is written and will be released soon.

My last two books are The Dark Light Saga (Dark Light and Luminous Shadows.) These two books fall into a weird category of paranormal romance thriller.

Hope this answered your question but didn't bore you too much!!

message 1931: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Absolutely. I'll check them out. I love books set in New Orleans, it's such a rich environment.

message 1932: by Victoria (new)

Victoria (victoriaclapton) | 21 comments Oh! Thanks! Me too. New Orleans is my favorite place in the world. I couldn't help but write about it.

I'm Peridot, and although I became a member a few weeks ago, this is the first time I post something. Looking forward to discussing favorite books while getting to know new authors and worlds.

message 1938: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Peridot_Lyoness. I've gotten some great recommendations here. I've even read the postings of an author in PRN, Victoria Clapton, who steered me to some of her books that I've really enjoyed. It's been a great time being part of this community.

Peridot_Lyoness | 29 comments Thanks Elizabeth and Victoria! I'm excited to be here. It's great to find my tribe, ya know!

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) Hi Everyone,
I joined this group earlier this year, but don't believe I've ever introduced myself. My name is Sue and I'm a life-long reader and a writer. I joined GR in January 2015 because it's easier to search for books here than on Amazon. Easier for me anyway. I only started joining groups earlier this year.

When I became a teenager I began reading contemporary romance. As an adult, life got in the way and I didn't have time to read for a while. When I did start reading again, I discovered paranormal romance because those are the types of movies I watch now. Life itself contains enough drama and trauma, I don't need to read it. I like to escape into a good YA or NA PNR, Sci-Fi, or Zombie book (are they considered Dystopian? I just realized I have no idea!). I like werewolves, vampires, fairies, elves, witches, dragons, zombies, and some aliens. I hope I didn't leave anyone out. : )

Nice to be here. Sue

message 1942: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Welcome Sue. I assume from your name you are an animal lover too. I have two kitties, but my sweet lab passed away last year. I miss her like crazy. Anyway, I'm much like you in that I just discovered PNR within the last few years. Although when I was younger I loved such series as Lord of the Rings and The Narnia series. I've found some great recommendations here. I hope you enjoy the discussions as much as I have.

Sam (Rescue Dog Mom, Writer, Hugger) (sammydogs) Thanks for the welcome, Elizabeth. I'm sorry for the loss of your furry family member. Hubby and I have been rescuing dogs for the past 20 years. Thank you.

message 1944: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments I'm thrilled to hear you adopt rescues. My babies are rescues too. There are so many wonderful cats/dogs that need homes, I encourage anybody who is looking for a new family member to consider shelters.

message 1945: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Wilde Hi all! Deb here. Huge PNR/UF fan. Can't wait to geek out with everyone over all the good books. :)

message 1946: by Elizabeth (new)

message 1947: by Liza (new)

Liza Street (lizastreet) | 15 comments Hi, Deb! I'm fairly new to the group, too, but I love seeing what everyone's reading and talking about. Lots of great new TBRs. :)

message 1948: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Wilde Thanks, ladies! I can't wait to add to my already-tottering TBR pile. :)

message 1949: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Wheeler | 386 comments Every time I tell myself I won't buy any more books until I've read what I already have, I find a new book I want to read. I'm afraid I'm becoming a book horder LOL.
