Introductions!
Hi I am Pammy. i am in high school. I read way too much. I am working on writting a book.

That imagining led me to writing a few years back and I'm having a blast sharing my fantasy and paranormal tales with others.
Looking forward to getting know this community!

Nice to meet you all!

I'm actully two people (not in a cutesy or scary way, we have a joint account, hee!)--Thea and Ana--and we are both share a passion for books of the paranormal variety. We love it all, Urban Fantasy, Horror, SFRomance, Paranormal Romance, etc. Some of our favorite authors are: Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, Rachel Caine, Meljean Brook, Stephanie Meyer, Charlaine Harris, Linnea Sinclair, Jacqueline Carey, and a bunch of others that I am probably forgetting right now.
Oh! And we also are comic book/graphic novel readers (love the Sandman Series, The X-Men, and above all Batman!)--and gotta get in on some of that Gambit lovin'. Anyways, this group looks awesome, and we're happy to join in!

Favorite authors include Neil Gaiman, Stephenie Meyer, Anne Rice, Karen Chance, Ellen Hopkins, j.r.ward, Jeaniene Frost, and lots more.
I'm currently working on my own paranormal romance novel, hopefully to be finished by the end of this summer...but I've still got a ways to go, so we'll see!
Nice to meet you all!

Married, mom of 2, psychologist.
I just started reading UF and PNR this summer. It actually started out as just wanting something different from my usual James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell and Anita Shreve typical reads. I never really expected to enjoy the genre as much as I do.
My right-now favorite are Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan, Amelia Elias, JR Ward, PC Cast and Stephenie Meyer.

I read a TON - typically a full-length novel every second or third day.
I've been reading UF & PNR for years now along with fantasy, space operas, futuristic romances, and of course, a smattering of classic literature (I'm a big Jane Austen fan!).
My intro to these genres came from reading Anne McCaffrey's Pern series when I was in early high school (well over 15 years ago). I slid easily into a futuristic romance she wrote in the 60's titled "Restoree". Around the same time I started reading PNR. The first one I clearly remember is "Wizard of Seattle" by Kay Hooper in 1993.
As I mentioned, I read A LOT, so if you need recommendations, keep an eye on my library and you'll find tons of choices. I don't typically review everything I write, but I will write one for you if you ask me about it. :-)
EDIT: March 8, 2010 - I now have a 6 month old son named Alex and live in the suburbs of Seattle rather than the city. I still read a lot, but nowhere near a book every 1-2 days. More like a book every 4 days now. It helps that I have a Nook (the B&N e-reader) so I can read with one hand while I hold the baby with the other. :-)

Other loves include world music, culture, and tech (geekier every minute). I like paranormal, historical fantasy (Juliet Marillier's my favorite author), historical romance, fantasy, the occasional scifi, and of course the classics! Jane Eyre, anyone? :D

I'm G W Pickle
I'm a mild mannered reporter who likes to wear a cape and tights. oops, that's been done before. How about a guy who is: married, has a very spoiled cat, owns a contract transportation service, loves to write Sci-Fi, and experiment on different genres, (my God it's alive... it's aliiive. Sorry, I tend to get carried away. The wife says please.) I also enjoy a good book every now and then, usually with a little mustard and catsup, onions give me gas. Anyone eaten a good book lately. I tried Bill C's book but it gave me gas for a month. I went through two boxes of ex-lax, it really bound me up. That's the last political book I'll ever buy.
Really, I'm just learning to write comedy. I do write Sci-Fi as well as other genres. Just trying to find out what I can do. And yes I do have a wife & avery spoiled cat. I also own a transportation service. Now I'm repeating myself. I've been seriously writing short and novel length stories for five years. (Oh yes I do have a poem published and have written lyrics to a couple of songs... no kidding). In the 70's I worked on a couple of newspaper for three years as a photojournalist. I took four college semesters of journalism. I also served in the Navy, during Viet Nam.
I do belong to a couple of writing web sites. They have really helped me learn the craft of writing, along with about fifteen books on writing.
My first novel, SENTI,Book One of the Jackwill Chronicles has been released by Trytium Press and is available through Barnes and Noble.com, Amazon, and several sites in Europe. I'm also working on its sequel as well as 5 other books in different genres. One is a vampire love story. This is me in a nutshell or should I say a Pickle.

I was an avid reader as a kid. I read all the same romance novels my mom was reading. Rosemary Rogers Kathleen E. Woodwiss were two of my favorites. Moved on to Anne Rice and several other fantasy writers as I got older. Life got busy raising a kid on my own and my reading became very sporadic. I've recently got renergized by the Twilight series in June and have read non-stop since then.
I love this website and am so glad to have found other avid readers to chat with.

My name is Mary and I am 34. I just moved from Ohio to South Carolina with my husband and furry four-legged family in tow. I am an avid reader (much to my husbands displeasure...I frequently hear, "You are on ANOTHER book? What happened to the last one?"). I think I pushed him over the edge when we moved and my books took up more space in the moving truck than the refridgerator did.
Most of what I read are paranormal romances of one variety or another, although there are some authors in other genres that I always read when they publish new stuff.
My taste in books is eclectic and I tend to find authors I like and read everything they write (Sherilyn Kenyon/Kinley McGregor, Christine Warren, Teresa Medieros, PC Cast, Katie MacAlister...). I discovered paranormal romance novels with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein when I was 8 years old. I loved the book but not the ending, so I wrote another ending and I was hooked after that.
I am so glad to have found Goodreads and this group in particular. I have found that my tastes in books don't usually match those of traditional reviewers or posters on some of the other sites and I am looking forward to getting some good recommendations from all of you.
I have not had time to catclog all of my books on my virtual bookshelf, but maybe someone else will get a recommendation from me too.
Nice to meet you all!
-Mary

I saw this group when I went Laura's page and I came to check it out. I love it. Basically, I love reading. I started getting into paranormal romance when I first picked up J.R Wards BDB books. Then I came across Sherrilyn Kenyon's DH series and now I'm hooked. I love these uber yummy men.

My name is Bonnie, and I am 25 years old. I read a little bit of everything, probably because I am very curious by nature and because I love learning new (interesting) things. But paranormal romance holds a special place, of course.
I'm not sure when I first discovered paranormal romance. I have always been interested in lore and myths, so vampire, werewolves and ghosts are right up my ally. On second thought, it may have all started when I was 13 and began reading "The Last Vampire" series by Christopher Pike.
From there I moved on to books by Jayne Castle (aka Jayne Ann Krentz aka Amanda Quick) and Shannon Drake.
But I believe the Dark Hunter series cemented my addiction. And the Black Dagger Brotherhood surely hasn't helped. My favorite DH characters are Ash, Talon and Nick and my favorite BDB characters are Rhage and Vishous. But Rhage totally wins, I have to say. Don't get me wrong though, the bromance between V and Butch totally kept them pages turning! lol ("Bromance" is one of my new favorite words. Please excuse me, I just wanted to use it.)
I love werewolf lore, but it's very hard to find anything good. So if anyone has any recommendations, feel free to throw them at me!
Also, I saw a few posts mentioning Gambit (aka the best/hottest mutant known to fiction). I knew I liked this group. :D

I am Sara... I live in the UK with my fiance and very pampered pussy cat...
I loooove reading, always have done, and can safely say always will... I got into paranormal romance through LKH (by way of urban fantasy) since then I read anything an everything I can get my hands on... I love Lynsay Sands, Christine Feehan, MJDavidson, Angela Knight as well as countless others... at the moment my wallet can't keep up with the 'I want' list!
If I could be any supe then I guess I would have to be a feline shifter....
Anyway thats me, nice to meet you all!
S x

I am currently reading Moon Calls by Patricia Briggs. I used to read mystries mostly - but I love the paranormal twists now. It keeps it exciting, and a total escape - which is important for me!
I'm 36, single and work full time in the music & film biz. I started a book club at work and its going strong...we all got hooked on Twilight (men and women!). I watch way too much TV - but I'm workin' on that...and I never read an entire book (that I wasn't forced to read) all the way through until I was in my 20's. I was an english major, then switched to journalism and communications. I spent 8 years working in radio (on and off air) before moving to LA in 2000.
I'm really hoping this group will be a great source of info for my new obsession - vamps & werewolves!
I have a blog I write in a few times a week: http://hangsuite.blogspot.com/
oh...and I have ZERO friends on goodreads...so um...can someone help me out with that? :o)

I am new and some how found my way here to your group.
I love reading and I have always been into vampires, werewolves and other paranormal creatures. My family all think this is strange so I have had no one to share my thoughts with on what I read.
I like romantic paranormal, horror and some mysteries. I love Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters and the Mythology she uses in her books I just can't get enough of.
I also loved The Vampire Chronicles and I would love to read any that are simular but I don't think I could find any.

I’m relatively new to the PNR genre as I’ve spent most of my life avoiding the fantasy genre and anything that might otherwise be construed as fantasy. I read the Chronicles of Narnia as a child and even as I grew up, continued to love it for the memories, but past that, had zero interest in exploring anything else that might be considered “fantastical.”
In ’02, my mom strong-armed me into reading the Harry Potter series. I kicked and screamed and dragged my feet all the way through the first chapter and then immediately shut up because I was HOOKED! After stumbling across several online forums, I made a couple “Potterphile” friends who made me feel bad for never having read Tolkien all the way through, so I did it to fit in. And then they ragged on me for never having read Anne Rice’s vampire books, which I also read, thanks to the oh-so-powerful phenomenon that is peer pressure. After that point, I had to grudgingly admit that books I had previously written off as “too weird” were surprisingly enjoyable to read and that I craved more!
I’m still not into science fiction (and honestly don’t see that changing, I just can’t get into any of the books I’ve tried) but my mom again practically tied me down and forced me to read Diana Gabaldon, who I had previously been avoiding because I was like, “ACK! Time Travel? Noooo, thank you! Too sciencey for me, tyvm.”
Again, it turns out mom was right and I fell in love, which led me into some Google searches for “Scotland” and “time travel.” That yielded Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander Series, which led into the Fever Series, which led me to believe that I might like to read books about faeries. That led me to Merry Gentry and Anita Blake, which was followed in short turn by Jim Butcher. And so went all of the year 2007. By the time January 2008 rolled around, I admitted my addiction to PNR and am now working on trying to catch up with the rest of you who’ve been reading this genre for much longer than I have.
At the moment I am reading J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series (I’ve read the first two and am waiting for the rest to become available on booksfree) and also Maggie Shayne’s Twilight Series. I’m enjoying both!
And yeah, if anybody has any recommendations for a newbie, I’d appreciate it muchly!

I plan to write contemporary, historical and paranormal romance sometime in the future, whichever I feel more comfortable writing.

I'd heard of Christina Dodd, who is already on my spreadsheet of recommended reads but had not heard of the others. I'll definitely take a peek and see what they're about. I've always found it's so much better to read based on recommendations than to go into a new genre blindly!

I've been reading PR and UF since they first started publishing them. The first PR's I remember reading were back in the early 90's, and of course, Anne Rice's vampire books. There are far too many author's and books for me to list here.
I have a book review blog, so I review the books I read on there and do author interviews and contests sometimes. It's been a lot of fun for me. Sidhe Vicious Reviews is my blog. I have a link to my complete library on LibraryThing or lists of my books I've read and my TBR piles if anyone's looking for new author's.
Other than that, I'd just like to say that it's wonderful to have found a group with so many other people who love to read the same kinds of books that I do! Great to "meet" you all. :) I look forward to the many great discussions on here.

Feel free to drop me a line, pester me, whatever. No stalking though - makes my hubby kinda nervous. LOL.

I'm another reader/writer. (The Children of the Sea series for Berkley)
I'm delighted to be part of this group. I just found Goodreads, and I can tell I'm going to spend waaay too much time here.
Virginia Kantra

Hey Virginia I'm loving the Children of the Sea series.
I write about fairies and elves with an Etruscan bent for Ellora's Cave, which means very hot.
I'm very glad to be here. What reader doesn't love to talk book?

I'm hoping to pick up some reading recommendations, too. At the moment I am deep in a deadline cave, so I'm limited to a "chapter at bedtime." I can't wait to clear my desk--literally!--and blow my budget on books.

Welcome to the group. I post but barely.

Sunshine's probably my favorite McKinley, but I love both her retellings of Beauty and the Beast. All her YAs, really. She has a new one out--Chalice. I have to add it to my "to be read" list.

I've been a reader all my life. I was the quiet kid who sat by the wall reading while others were running around on the playground.
I read any type of fiction that catches my eye, sci-fi, mystery, humor, romance, classics, and PNR.
I can't let go of books, and they are taking over my house!
I have a degree in Elem Ed, but gave up teaching about 6 yrs. ago. Now I work in an Early Childhood Center (private preschool) because it is less stressful. At least, so far.
I stumbled into PNR when looking for something new to read, and liked it so much, my collection is growing daily! I have read Feehan, Shayne, Sands, Galenorn, Briggs, Harris, Cooke, Thurman, Davidson, Kenyon, Abe, MacAlister, Armstrong, etc.
I also have a huge collection of Andre Norton books and Anne McCaffrey books. Sci-fi is something my brothers started me on, and I've read fantasy since 7th grade when I first read Tolkien.
I'll be 48 this month, and plan to continue to read the rest of my life. I don't think I have the patience it takes to become an author, though I have thought about it some. I read a lot of children's books and YA too, so maybe someday I'll attempt that!
Glad to meet all of you, and looking forward to some great suggestions for new authors to try!
Just looked back at this, and realized I talk waaaay too much! LOL

Hi, everyone, and welcome to the group!
Virginia, it's great to see you here! I read one of your short stories in the Over The Moon anthology and thought it was a fascinating update of the traditional fairy story. Did you intend it to be reminiscent of Tam Lin?
And I think Robin McKinley's brilliant, too. Sunshine is my favorite, but I also loved Deerskin, and I've got a few more of her books in my TBR stack.

Hello all. I'm Kercelia, and I am a bookaholic. the fact that I was already reading when I started school many years ago should let you know just how serious I am about reading. It has been a lifelong passion for me. I happen to be a great-grandma which might seem odd for someone who is into Paranormal/Fantasy Fiction, but I don't think I could get by without reading my favorite authors like Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan, Laurell K. Hamilton, Karen M. Moning. I have read thousands of books over the years and I never tire of reading. BTW, I live in Ohio, but gre up in Tennessee. I also write poetry and short stories -mostly for my own enjoyment. I am looking forward to spending time with all of you!

Good luck and get some rest!

Martina, I think a lot of us got hooked on Pern. Do you suppose that accounts for the popularity of dragon shifters?
Thanks to the recommendations on this list (Lori!), I recently picked my first Kresley Cole--which is upstairs, so I can't check the title-- but it's the one with the insane vampire and the ghost. Not what you'd normally think of as funny stuff, but she makes it work. I'm really enjoying the story and the hero's devotion to the heroine.
Fan Girl, thanks for the kind words on Over the Moon! Tam Lin was a big inspiration, but more so in the story of Cait's parents ("Midsummer Night's Magic," Man of My Dreams anthology, a 2005 RITA award nominee). I love using old ballads and legends. Sea Witch, for example, uses The Little Mermaid, and Sea Lord, which I'm supposed to be writing at this very moment, draws on Hades/Persephone and Beauty and the Beast.
re: McKinley's Deerskin
Wow, you go for the dark side, don't you? But it's a fabulous, powerful book.
Wonderful to be part of this great group, even if all these fun book discussions are distracting me from my deadline!
Kercelia, welcome to the group!
Anita, welcome and congrats on the new baby! I'm with Lori, when do you have time to read? That's a feat in and of itself. ;)
Virginia, we read Deerskin in a course I took last spring on fairy tales and their modern adaptations. More than half of the class was completely and utterly turned off by the book, but I thought it was fascinating, particularly how McKinley used blood and menstrual blood as plot devices. Er... yeah, I tend to go for the darker stuff, heh.
I've seen Sea Witch in the bookstore, but I'll definitely have to pick it up now. Fairy tale/folktale adaptations are definitely an interest of mine, and I've been hoping to find some in the PNR genre.
And deadlines? Ha! This group is a great reason to procrastinate. I'm going to have papers due soon, and I'm sure I'll waste a good bit of time here. ;)

Congrats on the new baby Anita!
And Kercelia, we take all comers in this group, regardless of age etc...

I will read just about anything, but as of late I am on a paranormal romance kick. I buy at least one book every single week. And unless I am desperately attached to a book or series I will trade or give them away. I think great books are meant to be shared. And after they pass through many hands my favorite books always come back to me.
I started a book pass once that took 5 years to get back to me! But when it did my book had several hundred signatures in it(pages were added to it to hold them all!) and it had been to 23 countries around the world. That was and still is my favorite book.
So as you see I am more than happy to trade books with people. If you have any recommendations for me let me know. If you just want to trade some books... we'll see what we can work out.

I came to paranormal romance late. I began with J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series and I haven't looked back. Love it. I've recently read Storm Born by Richelle Mead, this one is being marketed as a 'fantasy' but definitely has the paranormal in it. Any way, I love books, and I love to read.

I work full time as a console operator and also run a young mums support group online (which I have for the past 4 years). I dabble in photography and graphic design... Animation being another of my hobbies.
I am constantly reading....anything and everything. Paranormal romance seems to be the recent favourite thanks to twilight & the BDB series. I just can't seem to get enough of drop dead gorgeous vampires =P
I'm like a kid in a candy store - I can't decide what to read 1st and the list is forever growing!
Glad to be here
~ Jodz

I have always been an avid reader. I especially love the vampire/paranormal genre, and recently discovered a love for the romances and urban fantasy.
My favorite series is the Sookies. I also like alot of Katie Macalister and Kim Harrison. I'm always looking for great new books to read.
Other interests include travel, Disney World, tv, movies, and Halloween (we have a haunted house every year in our backyard).

I'm Camille, 20 year old business and law student- although I did two years of arts study in media & communications and literature.
I'm an avid reader of many genres (science fiction, fantasy, literature, horror) but I'm an out and proud voracious romance reader and all the genres within that, of which paranormal is one.
Oh and I'm a female gamer, fangirl extraordinaire, graphic novel fan & otaku =)
hope to have fun and interesting discussions with you all, maybe even make a few friends. ^_~
