I started reading romance novels when I was a teenager and began with almost only historicals and kept going for these books for a long time. Then, a few years ago, I somehow changed my reading habits totally and since then I use to read almost only paranormal romances. The first paranormals I read were the novels by Christine Feehan about the Drake sisters (I loved this series!!) and then it went on to the books of Gena Showalter, Alyssa Day (I practically inhale all of her Atlantis related books!!), Nalini Singh, and I lot of other authors I don´t remember right at this moment. I am a total English nerd (my profession is multilingual secretary) and I sincerely hope that joining this site will help me improve my English skills (well, speaking to someone in English would be wonderful for me).
I am very much interested in mythology (mostly the greek, but also those of other countries, such as the celtic with the fae or the northern mythology with Odin, Thor and these gods)and archaeology. Therefore I love the Percy Jackson books/movie, but also all of books by Sherrilyn Kenyon - dark hunters)and I wished there were more books dealing with these subjects.
For years I only read German books, but now I almost completely changed into reading English books because there´s so much more variety of them. I hope to make friends here with whom I can chat/talk/email/discuss...everything about books and live in general. I really am looking forward to getting to know you all.

Tons of good books are available and looks as if you've found a lot of the popular authors (not all of you have found the same ones of course) Some favorites are: Patricia Briggs (Mercy Thompson also Alpha & Omega); Chloe Neill (Chicagoland Vampires); Larissa Ione (Demonica); Jennifer Estep (Elemental Assassin); Kresley Cole (Immortals After Dark); JR Ward (Black Dagger Brotherhood); Gena Showalter (Lords of the Underworld); Lara Adrian (Midnight Breed); Jeaniene Frost (Night Huntress World); Nalini Singh (Psy-Changeling & Guild Hunter series).
As you can see plenty to choose from. The above is by no means a complete list. There are lots of others, these just seem to be the most popular in the various groups. Also visiting the different discussion topics you pick up on other books that may peak your interest. There's also recommendations you can get here at goodreads and at a couple other sites (ie: whatshouldireadnext.com)
You guys are joining a group or two and just jumping in -- you'll feel like you've been doing it forever in no time. Don't be shy to just pop your message in and add a ha-ha to the conversation - sometimes that is the best way.
Happy reading and I hope you all find tons of friends!

Thanks for the suggestion of popular authors! I'm new to paranormal romance (and romance in general, honestly) and that's very helpful!

Welcome Claudia. There is nothing wrong with your English. I think it's better than mine and it's my first and only language. =)

Hi, Leslie,
You wrote about reading on your android tablet. That's the same with me. I have an ipod touch an ipad. Ever since I own these devices my reading habits changed totally, too. Nowadays I use to read so much more ebooks than printed books. So I can perfectly understand that.

I wasn't much of a reader as a child/young adult but was introduce to romance, specifically Judith McNaught, by a co-worker. Fell in love with romance almost immediately and read on occasion or if someone raved about a book (romance or other genre).
The reading obession was back after reading Twilight. After that I had to get my hands on all things PNR. I haven't jumped on any of the threads because I feel as though I'm interrupting a conversation. However, I am looking forward to seeing recommendations and hope to join in on a group read. Thanks~
P.S. Sorry this introdcution was three days long. :)

Feel free to join the conversation, you wont be interrupting anything. The more the merrier! Welcome to the group =)

From horses I moved onto anything and everything I can get my hands on. I still enjoy reading a wide range of genres. My first adventure in fantasy was The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne. I loved it. I combed the school libraries for more Jules Verne. Then I moved onto the Dune series by Frank Herbert and then tons of books by Piers Anthony, and I was hooked.
Then I discovered Stephen King and read The Stand until the cover fell off and lucky for me King released the complete and uncut version so I could read it all over again. My newest adventure in reading is paranormal romance, and I’ve recently become hooked on vampires. Most importantly, I love anything with a good story.
I actually became a writer thanks to reading James Herriot, although at first I wanted to be a writing veterinarian. I settled for journalism and began a sports writer. Currently, I have just released my own fantasy novel and look forward to writing even more.

My name is Therese but I write under the name T. P. Boje. I am 35 years old and from Denmark. I moved to the states with my husband and kids two and a half years ago. We live in Florida which I like a lot better than the cold and rainy Denmark. I am also a hopeless book addict and i love being on Goodreads and meeting people just like me here.Books were my life growing up and when I wasn't reading I told stories to my class-mates in school. I love a good story and I prefer that it has some love and romance in it.
Anyway I am really happy to be here.
Therese
Hi I'm Selena. I love paranormal and romance books. I love writing poetry and I'm currently writing a book so if you want you can check out the ones I put on my page. :) I love P.C Cast and alot of others <3

SO obviously I am new here. My name is Muna and I have been reading romance books since... forever nearly! I love reading and blogging about paranormal romances, Young Adult romances and the more classical ones as well. I really enjoy Nalini Singh, Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter, Lisa Kleypas and sooo many others that i could literally bore you to death with them.
But like other people have said I am really glad that I have Goodreads so I can share my love of books and hopefully people can share that with me as well.
-Muna

I'm Emily Goodwin and I have been a fan of anything paranormal since I was a kid. I used to stay up and sneak on the internet to look up information about magic, ghosts and vampires. Adding romance into the paranormal mix just makes everything so much more compelling.
I'm an avid read as well as a writer. My first novel is finally for sale (yay!). Other than reading and writing, I enjoy riding my horses, sewing and just being outside.
I'm looking forward to 'getting to know' everyone in this group!

It is true though. If the girl doesn’t get her guy (or the other way around), if there’s no “white horse into the sunset” (metaphorically speaking of course), if I don’t sniffle at least a couple of times during the story, then I’m just not happy.
Whether the girl is falling for a ghost, a vampire (Team Edward!) or a selkie, it doesn’t matter to me. Just as long as she’s falling and there’s a “great catch” waiting to catch her, that’s the “fix” that I’m looking for.

Hi, Krista,
yess! I can only stress that. It´s the exact way with me. I can not stand stories/movies/TV series, what ever, without an happy end. If so, I´m eager to forget what read/saw immediately ;-)) Before I read a romance novel I collect as much information about it as I can get so I am sure I won´t be disappointed about the end. And - of course there has to be at least one really hot, steamy sex scene in it so my romantic heart will be satisfied ;-)
So - welcome to the club of the "hopelessly romantic girls" - I guess we must be "sisters in soul" ;-)))
Which books did you like best in the paranormal genre?
Oh, btw, I think I didn´t mention it in my profile or elsewhere - I don´t like vampires. Sorry for all of you who are big vampire fans. But - I can´t help it - that´s the way I feel. If vampires are included in paranormal romance novels they have to be the "bad guys", not the main couple. Again - sorry!!

fav authors so far
gena showalter, joselynn drake . liz strange

I'm kouk a 27 yr. old Paranormal Romance booklover!
Some of my favorites are:
Jeaniene Frost, Michelle Rowen, Kerrelyn Sparks, Charlaine Harris & JR Ward.
I look forward to talk about books with all of you!

I'm 31 and single mother to an awesome 6 year old girl. I love animals (I have 5 cats, 4 dogs, and 2 horses). I live in South Florida (Hollywood) and I read a LOT (generally 4-8 books a week).
My favorite genre right now is YA Paranormal Romance (Clockwork Angel is my current favorite book), but I love adult Paranormal too (read quite a bit of Sherrilyn Kenyon, etc), as well as regular romance, mystery/thriller, etc.
I work in law enforcement, but I love to write and I'm currently participating in NaNoWriMo!
:D
Hi,
I'm 30+ and love all things paranormal but particularly paranormal romance. It's great to see a community of PNR junkies. Now I can tell my family I'm not crazy there are more like me out there...we even have a group...lol

My name is Jessica. I'm 25, live in Canada, and manage a blog called Book Bound. I review books, most of them paranormal romance (my genre of choice), host giveaways, author interviews....blah blah blah. But, this isn't meant to be self promotion so...moving one. Lol.
I currently work as a medical lab tech for my regional health authority. I enjoy it, and I must admit, I get a kick out of being called a vampire or a blood sucker by my patients. :)
When I'm not working, I am usually reading, blogging, writing (procrastinating), or baking. I hope to one day take my writing seriously enough to complete a novel and publish it. I also hope to one day open a cupcake shop. As it stands, I make custom cakes and cupcakes out of my home...more a hobby than any kind of business venture.
Thats me in a nutshell. ;)

I discovered the paranormal genre fairly late compared to some of you. I read the Twilight series about 2 years ago and absolutely loved it! After I’d read it several times, I went looking for paranormal romances to help curb my withdrawal symptoms.
Some of my favorite paranormal romance/urban fantasy authors are J.R. Ward, Jeanine Frost, Lara Adrian, and Charlaine Harris. Other genre’s I enjoy are chick lit, contemporary romance, and young adult titles (which I read for my own enjoyment, but also to discuss with my 12 year old daughter).
I’ve joined Good Reads just this month and am excited to meet other book lovers. I am even more excited to have found this group and am looking forward to reading and discussing with you all. Happy reading!

Hi Josie!
I'm a huge, HUGE fan of JR Ward myself. So you and I will get along nicely. ;-)

My name is Kiara and I'm from a small town in West Virginia. I'm probably a bit on the young side, being 19 and going on 20, but I've always enjoyed reading paranormal and historical romance. I currently attend an online college to maybe pursue a career in informative technology. When I'm not completing my assignments, I usually am writing posts for my rp forums in my spare time or reading reviews of the latest books and movies.
I can't say I have any favorite authors/books at the moment since I just got back into the genre, though I am a big manga fanatic and enjoy series like Vampire Knight and Berserk. They've really encouraged me to give the PNR/Supernatural another shot.
-has run out of things to say-
Ummm....
Oh yeah!
It makes me glad to have found goodreads while searching for friendly book forums. It's a pleasure to meet you all and I can't wait to start discussing and reviewing with you guys! :)

My name is Jenny Buijs, I'm 21 years old and I'm from the Netherlands. For all my life I have been addicted to books. Young Adults, Paranormal Romance and Chicklits are the books I like the most.
I work in a book and magazine store and I also write a blog (in dutch) with reviews about the books I read. I love to write and it's my dream to write a book of my own someday.

I've always been an avid reader, but only in the past year or so have I been a fan of paranormal romance books...my friend Paloma got me hooked on them! :)
My favorite authors are J.R. Ward, Kendra Leigh Castle, and P.C. Cast so far on the PR scene. Other authors I enjoy are Kathy Reichs, Tess Gerritsen, Gregory Maguire, J.K. Rowling, Phillipa Gregory, Dan Brown, Amy Tan, Anita Shreve...and several more, I'm sure. I'll read just about anything that sounds interesting.

I'm an bookworm who is having a bit of dry spell as i am morning the lost of Borders and Christmas is just around the corner. I'm so glad to have found this group it has giving so many good book tittles to check out and I can't wait to get back into all the good reads.
I read mostly YA but dabble in anything and everything else that catches my attention.
