Thanks and have a great day!!
MAGGIE

I fell in love with the romance genre as a teen. My fave sub-genres are historical and paranormal/fantasy. I'm NOT into Romantica/erotica. I prefer warmblooded Vamps to the cold and dead variety.
My fave authors (right now) are Karen Marie Moning, Gena Showalter, Robin Owins for pranormal/fantasy and Mary Wine, Terri Brisbin (Highlander) and Elizabeth Rolls for historical. There are other authors on my "watch" list as well.
I am also an author, both non-fiction and fiction. My non-fiction works are pattern books for the model horse hobby and my fiction works are romantic fantasy (paranormal/speculative fiction).
My 9-year-old son plays travel ice hockey (We live in the desert), which takes up more time than any of the other sports he has tried. He keeps us busy!

My name is Sarah and I'm from the high desert half of Washington State. I've been reading scifi/fantasy since I was a child and romance for almost as long. Paranormal romance is perfect: it combines the best of both worlds!
I have two kiddos, two dogs, two cats, two horses and three tortoises. They keep me busy.
For sport I jump large horses over small fences and practice yoga.
For relaxation I garden, DIY my old house, and knit. And gun down aliens in Halo. Oh, and play Bejeweled.
For fun I clean compulsively, sing loudly, and work as a recess aide at the local elementary school where I get to open juice boxes and bananas, blow a whistle repeatedly and on good days shout: "Don't run on the bark!"
I lock myself in the bathroom every evening for an hour or so with my latest book. At the moment it's a reread of GRRM.
My latest favorite paranormal romantic is Karen Marie Moning.
I look forward to meeting you all.

Im into Paranormal Romance all the way, with favorite authors that include Sherrilyn Kenyon and J.R. Ward. I also love Urban Fantasy, and after reading some of the posts, have recategorized some of my fave PR authors into this genre as well. I love Patricia Briggs, Jeaniene Frost (recently converted from PR category lol) along with Charles DeLint and Neil Gaiman (true UF authors).
I'm really excited about joining this book-loving community and hearing everyones thoughts on books and life!

HELLO EMILY! OOH! JEANIENE FROST IS A GOOD CHOICE! I REALLY NEED TO CALM DOWN WITH CAPS!

LOL!

Welcome NEWBIES, you'll love this site and will find yourselves lots of friends, great discussion groups AND great recommendations.
Shelly, reading your instroduction reminded me of myself 2 yrs ago. I didn't have any interest in PNR until Twilight, and that was 2 yrs behind the craziness. I read Twilight 4 times back-to-back than accidentally got my hands on Black Dagger Brotherhood...hello adult PNR. I never looked back. It's been so crazy reading and catching up all of these great series out there.

If you're looking for a new series to try, I would love to recommend the first release in my Only After Dark series of paranormal romance entitled "Love Bleeds...

Welcome to the group and have a great weekend!!
MAGGIE

I got an e-reader for my last birthday & now somehow there is always time to return to my love of reading.
I'm new to posting and need you guys to be patient with me as I master it - I'll try not to make too many mistakes.
While i was deciding if joining a group would be for me, I peeked at you. The books and the challenges seemed so much fun I couldn't resist anymore. PNR (both adult and YA) has become my absolute favorite genre. After all you led the way to BDB & the Lords and suggested a few other series I can hardly wait to try.
I'm glad to be reading with you all.

Lol, your story of gettin into PNR reminds me of myself. The Twilight series was my 1st intro to PNR also. I have never been a vampire fan, but Twilight changed that. I read the entire series in less than 36hrs (of course I looked like a zombie when I finished them but it was soooo well worth it!) I bought them all in hardback and read them 23 times (excessive I know). Then, to quote a friend of mine (Crazy4more), I "got my hands on Black Dagger Brotherhood...hello adult PNR. I never looked back". Lol I now love vamps (along with shifters & other PNR characters). ;p So by all means, welcome fellow PNR lover! ;)

Lol I just love how so many of us got introduced to/hooked on PNR by reading the Twilight series!!! ;)

I noticed you mentioned you like historical romance. You should REALLY read the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. She's AMAZING!!!!!! DON'T let the size of her novels intimidate you! I promise once you start them you'll fly through the series and they're well worth the read. I very highly recommend them to everyone. They're the only other series (other than the Twilight series & those available in hardback in the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning) I own in hardback which for me is saying a lot (I only buy hardbacks if it's something exceptional that I'll reread many times in the years to come).
Great to have you!

Crazy4more recommended Outlander series to me; she and Keri are absolutely correct!! I'm on the 4th book and I can't say enough about them the series is indeed AMAZING!!!
Welcome to all the new arrivals, I hope you find us all as fun and inviting as I have since joining.

Before you know it you'll have forgotten you just started on the genre. There are quite a few interesting series:
Black Dagger Brotherhood - JR Ward
Immortals After Dark - Kresley Cole
Lords of the Underworld - Gena Showalter
Midnight Breed - Lara Adrian
Wings In The Night - Maggie Shayne
I hope this group helps you find some good ones.

Shawn, let me know if you need a next author, Keri and I will vouch for Karen Moning: The Highlander and Fever series.
Keri, I know you have a fascination for horses, does that include cowboys and ranch life? got my hands on a too-hot-to-handle series, ROUGH RIDERS by Lorelei James. OMG..."Save a horse [ride a cowboy]" nuff said, wink wink. Warning, culture shock to our Southern Bells, hope I'm not offending anyone, but man, I love hot cowboys. Not than I'm over my vampires, but my chances of meeting cowboys and highlanders are just a bit higher. I'm hitting Wyoming and Scotland future vacations!
Pat, great suggestions.
Happy reading!

Thank you, Aislyn!

When I'm done with Drums of Autumn I'm going to read the Conversion books that Jessica recommended. I'm trying to get books in between Outlander so I can savor the after glow. Ha Ha. You and I definitely have the same taste in books so I would love some recommendations. I have already read most of the most popular such as BDB, IAD, MB, NH, anita blake, Rachel Morgan, soooo I'm definitely looking for something new.

Thank you I've heard of her psy~changeling series and have it on my nook wish list but not Guild Hunter I'm adding it now. And I finished Voyager it was FAB~U~LOUS!!! I'm now reading Drums of Autumn so far I'm loving it too. I am so glad I joined this group I have had so many great recommendations and haven't been disappointed yet!!!

If you don't mind I was also like to invite you all to check out my newest release LOVE BLEEDS, book one in the "Only After Dark" series.

I absolutely will vouch for the KMM's Highlander & Fever series. A warning though...hands off Adam Black, he's alllllll mine ;) The Fever series is awesome. OMG, it's a page turner for sure. I loved KMM's Highlander seris but I must say her Fever series (which by the way some of her Highlander series characters are in and/or make debuts in the Fever series) blew her Highlander series outta the water!

Lol, it's much more than a fascination sis. We're cattle and horse ranchers in my family (the ENTIRE family). It's a lifestyle. As for lovin cowboys...lol of course I do! I've got some men (yes some are single though most are alreay taken) who are the real deal and have the looks to go with it! ;) I'll have to check out the Rough Riders series. (The only men I date are cowboys, gotta know who to rope & ride & keep up!) ;)

OK, newbies, warning, this series is NOT for the Southern Bells in you, but if you're looking for some guilty pleasures and fall in love with our cowboys, this is a yummy read.

This one was one of my favs. I hope you enjoy!!

Jessica, if you have a barnes and nobles account and a nook you can download it for free from the freenookbooks section.

Lol, trust me sister, Whyoming isn't the only state w/hot (authentic) cowboys. Us Okies (and Texans too!) have more than our fair share...we don't have the mountains though...(sighs wistfully). Wish we did. After I finish up my BSN I plan to head North into mountain country and rub elbows w/the cattlemen & horsemen up there. If you're ever in the TX/OK area, give me a shout, I'll hook ya up ;)

I just finished all 3. I enjoyed the first one the second was a little slow. The third one was pretty good, it brought most of the characters together had some decent twists and left me very interested to find out what happens next. The author definitely improved her character development in the last book.
