T.K. Kenyon | 3 comments Hi All!

I love smut. I'm embarrassed to read a book with a cheesy cover someplace that someone will see me, but that's why Kindles are soooooo cool! If someone asks what I'm reading, I can cut away from the vampire neck clinch and pull up Cutting for Stone before I hand it to them. No one need know of my secret smutty books!

(Except for the fact that now I'm posting here and anyone who searches will know. Ah, the lengths that a reader will go to in order to get book recommendations! Sad, really.)

Hi, Katie! I'm coming back after a long hiatus, too, and really hoping to get more into the social aspect of GoodReads. I am an aspiring writer myself, I just honestly have no clue how to get started. (Surely there's a group on here for that?)

What have you written? Maybe I've seen some of your work, and/or the work of all the other wonderful ladies here :)

I could not have said this better myself! I love smut as well, and my Kindle will let me flip to something a lot more 'smart' if anyone is curious about what I'm reading in the break room at work. I also read a lot of smutty fanfiction - I forgot who introduced me to that, but whoever did.....they've created a monster!

Some of it is just really, really good though, and needs to be marketed on its own.

message 558: by La La (new)

La La | 245 comments My name is Lashell. I pretty much love all genres of romance books, but find that I gravitate to paranormal more. The first paranormal book I ever read was as a teen and it was Christopher Pike books. I was addicted. I stopped reading novels for almost 15 yrs and then I got into it again with the Twilight series, which I thought was the best books ever, until I really explored the genre and found that there are books out there that are so much better.

Hi Lashell. Like you, I fell out of reading for awhile, too. After I read the Twilight series, I went on a mission to find books that were just as good (if not, better). What books have you found that you feel are better than the Twlilight books? I would love to check them out if I haven't already read them.

message 562: by Sabrina (new)

Sabrina Blue (sabrinablue) | 1 comments hey there,
i'm sabrina blue from portland oregon. i have been addicted to the vampire romance genre for about five years, but before that, anne rice and poppy z. brite were a couple of favorite writers.

i'm really into the laurel hamilton's books, and have just finished the twilight books, but couldn't get into them. i really dig some good old fashioned horror fiction too, like clive barker, stephen king and caitlin r. kiernan. my favorite writer is alice walker, who writes some of the scariest stuff ever.
i live with my four rescued kitties - luna, bella, june and leo. i love vintage furnishings and clothing, especially from the 20s & 30s, and can be found purusing the flea markets and thrift stores looking for amazing pieces. i have a boring office day job, but love to paint and write poetry in my spare time.

Send me a friend request i need good reads friends!

Bella Street (bellastreet) | 35 comments Howdy from Nashville! I used to read contemporary and regency romance, then one day I discovered Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I was hooked. My taste in fiction followed and I read the Southern Vampire series, Carrie Vaughn, Kelley Armstrong, Melissa Marr, The Beautiful Series about casters...I think what draws me is the freedom to explore new ways of understanding human nature via bizarre settings and symbolism.

message 567: by Sarindre (new)

Sarindre | 1 comments Hello all! I just joined Goodreads today and I came across this great group! I love to read Fantasy and Sci-Fi. I love stories about the paranormal and will read them nonstop. I took great classes in college (Sci-Fi East & West, Vampire: Blood and the Empire, and Gothic Imagination) which helped me find my love for all different types of fiction and I have been reading everything I can get my hands on every since!

I live in the "boons" in Pa so I spend most of my time reading, gaming, and taking care of my daughter who is now 11 weeks! It is great to meet all of you.

Susie | 10 comments Hi! My name is Susie. I guess my love of paranormal romance began with Twilight. Still love Edward Cullen, but now that I've met Barrons (Fever series--awesome!) and Bones (Night Huntress series-also awesome, even though I'm only on book 2, so far), I have to say they've moved ahead of EC. Oh, and I can't forget about Zsadist from BDB. Also quite yummy! lol
This looks like a great group, so I'm looking forward to being a part of the discussions. :-)

I am thinking of becoming an author my-self. The books I will publish one day will be a three book series about vampires. My hobbies are reading and drawing. I also like graphic design. Yo, I'm Alex and I don't really read any romance, paranormal or otherwise; but that's gonna have to change soon since that seems to be all I ever write. On the rare occasions I actually write anything, that is. Anyway I need to actually read some of this stuff since I seem so keen on it. Plus I write sex scenes even worse than I perform them.

Hoping to figure out some stuff that'll interest me, so far most all I have to go on is movies. I'm a big fan of weird, surreal, somewhat disturbing romance stories like Jodorowsky's Santa Sangre or the Italian zombie movie Dellamorte Dellamore. Stories about nostalgia and puppy love really intrigue me, especially when they're twisted a bit. Also anything by Guy Maddin, but his stuff tends to be not so much paranormal as abnormal.

message 580: by Sillylittlefishey (new)

Sillylittlefishey | 1025 comments I'm sure I'll get there eventually...but my to read list is huge and keeps growing!!

message 581: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolezoltack) | 9 comments Hi everyone! I just joined. I love to read and will read anything that has romance in it and anything fantasy/paranormal.

I also am an author and write medieval fantasy as well as other genres. Woman of Honor, the first book in my Kingdom of Arnhem trilogy, is about a girl who wants to become a knight.

My favorite TV show is The Vampire Diaries. :)

message 582: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (bookminx) Hi everyone! I'm Sam.

I joined because it seems like 90% of what I read is paranormal romance or fantasy. My favorite author is Kelley Armstrong. If you haven't read anything by her yet I strongly suggest you pick something by her up. My favorite element in paranormal romances is probably shape shifters. And not just werewolves, if one of the main characters can turn into some kind of animal I'm there.

A few of my other favorite authors in this genre are Marjorie M. Liu, Maria V. Snyder, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Laurell K. Hamilton.

And my favorite TV show with paranormal elements is Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Heroes. :)

message 583: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolezoltack) | 9 comments Hi, Sam! I loved Heroes, too. I haven't watched Buffy yet but I plan on correcting that this summer.

message 584: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (bookminx) Hi, Nicole! Nice to meet you! Buffy is great... well except for the last two seasons. Things went down hill pretty quick after season 5. I haven't seen Vampire Diaries yet, but I've been hearing a lot about it. I'm going to have to check it out!

message 585: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolezoltack) | 9 comments Vampire Diaries starts out a little slow but then it really picks up and the cliffhangers are just amazing!

I hadn't actually read anything by her until I read the anthology Dates From Hell by Kim Harrison ...her story was my favorite of the whole book. I'm going to be reading Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong for an online book club next month.

message 588: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (bookminx) Bitten is my favorite! I hope you like it!
