Introductions!

Hi, Katie! I'm coming back after a long hiatus, too, and really hoping to get more into the social aspect of GoodReads. I am an aspiring writer myself, I just honestly have no clue how to get started. (Surely there's a group on here for that?)
What have you written? Maybe I've seen some of your work, and/or the work of all the other wonderful ladies here :)

I love smut. I'm embarrassed to read a book with a cheesy cover someplace that someone will see me, but that's why Kindles are soooooo cool! If someone asks what I'm reading, I can cut aw..."
I could not have said this better myself! I love smut as well, and my Kindle will let me flip to something a lot more 'smart' if anyone is curious about what I'm reading in the break room at work. I also read a lot of smutty fanfiction - I forgot who introduced me to that, but whoever did.....they've created a monster!
Some of it is just really, really good though, and needs to be marketed on its own.

Hi Lashell. Like you, I fell out of reading for awhile, too. After I read the Twilight series, I went on a mission to find books that were just as good (if not, better). What books have you found that you feel are better than the Twlilight books? I would love to check them out if I haven't already read them.

I'm BJ from the UK, and I love anything paranormal romance, love dark hunters/midnight breed/BDB etc etc, and I am new to goodreads, and I have a quick question if anyone can help me does anyone know who book the Guardian is for on the dark hunters series coming out In Nov??????

i'm sabrina blue from portland oregon. i have been addicted to the vampire romance genre for about five years, but before that, anne rice and poppy z. brite were a couple of favorite writers.
i'm really into the laurel hamilton's books, and have just finished the twilight books, but couldn't get into them. i really dig some good old fashioned horror fiction too, like clive barker, stephen king and caitlin r. kiernan. my favorite writer is alice walker, who writes some of the scariest stuff ever.
i live with my four rescued kitties - luna, bella, june and leo. i love vintage furnishings and clothing, especially from the 20s & 30s, and can be found purusing the flea markets and thrift stores looking for amazing pieces. i have a boring office day job, but love to paint and write poetry in my spare time.
Send me a friend request i need good reads friends!

Thank you! And I agree, they are very addicting!

I live in the "boons" in Pa so I spend most of my time reading, gaming, and taking care of my daughter who is now 11 weeks! It is great to meet all of you.

My name is Emilia, but people call me Emily.
About me: I have 3 dogs, one is named Pickles, Pinky and Bebee. They are all tea cups Chihuahuas. I am a university student and I graduated once. I will graduate again in one year, and again in year 2015. I will continue to go for many more years.
I love romance novels and fantasy, anything that has to do with the paranormal. I love to talk to authors and I have met a few. Fiona McIntosh is my favorite author. I am thinking of becoming an author my-self. The books I will publish one day will be a three book series about vampires. My hobbies are reading and drawing. I also like graphic design. One day I wish to travel the world, the places I want to travel are Rome, Spain, London, and Europe.
This is a great group, and I hope to talk to everyone real soon.

Yo, I'm Alex and I don't really read any romance, paranormal or otherwise; but that's gonna have to change soon since that seems to be all I ever write. On the rare occasions I actually write anything, that is. Anyway I need to actually read some of this stuff since I seem so keen on it. Plus I write sex scenes even worse than I perform them.
Hoping to figure out some stuff that'll interest me, so far most all I have to go on is movies. I'm a big fan of weird, surreal, somewhat disturbing romance stories like Jodorowsky's Santa Sangre or the Italian zombie movie Dellamorte Dellamore. Stories about nostalgia and puppy love really intrigue me, especially when they're twisted a bit. Also anything by Guy Maddin, but his stuff tends to be not so much paranormal as abnormal.

I also am an author and write medieval fantasy as well as other genres. Woman of Honor, the first book in my Kingdom of Arnhem trilogy, is about a girl who wants to become a knight.
My favorite TV show is The Vampire Diaries. :)

I joined because it seems like 90% of what I read is paranormal romance or fantasy. My favorite author is Kelley Armstrong. If you haven't read anything by her yet I strongly suggest you pick something by her up. My favorite element in paranormal romances is probably shape shifters. And not just werewolves, if one of the main characters can turn into some kind of animal I'm there.
A few of my other favorite authors in this genre are Marjorie M. Liu, Maria V. Snyder, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Laurell K. Hamilton.
And my favorite TV show with paranormal elements is Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Heroes. :)

I hadn't actually read anything by her until I read the anthology

Have you read the books? I tried reading the first one, I just couldn't get into it, but I love the shows!
Hey I'm Jade, just joined the group :) x

Ive just joined the group to talk shop about books and to find out more about different authors. :)

I love smut. I'm embarrassed to read a book with a cheesy cover someplace that someone will see me, but that's why Kindles are soooooo cool! If someone asks what I'm reading, I can cut away from the vampire neck clinch and pull up Cutting for Stone before I hand it to them. No one need know of my secret smutty books!
(Except for the fact that now I'm posting here and anyone who searches will know. Ah, the lengths that a reader will go to in order to get book recommendations! Sad, really.)
