So I've been looking through the threads recently, and there's a similar topic to this one: Is Luke a traitor or a hero?

Many people who argue for Luke being a traitor point out his bad past and betrayal of Percy. I don't think redemption of mistakes you make in the past taints your virtue as a human being...or demigod I guess. That is to say, I think that if you make mistakes but acknowledge them and redeem yourself, it doesn't make you any less heroic than someone who did not make those mistakes. If anything it makes you more heroic, IMO, because you can swallow your pride enough to not only acknowledge them, but sacrifice your life to compensate for them. Which is exactly what Luke did.

I've always found Luke to be a fascinating character--a hero on a villain's side.

What do you guys think?

Gabby Ohh, i didn't think of this. I think he deserves it.

Luke deserves Elysium. Thats my point of view.

Rick mentions in one of his Q&A's that Luke went for rebirth or whatever you call it...

Oh! So I hope he lives a better life this time, don't you think?

I think so! I always felt sorry for Luke...if you've ever read the Demigod Diaries, one of the stories is from Luke's POV. It's really heart-wrenching, knowing his future and what it has in store for him.

Leah I think no.

BubblesTheMonkey I don't think he deserved Elysium. He was the one who caused Kronos to rise in the first place.

the fire burns inside me He was comtrolled by Kronos, so I believe he is a hero.

Joe he does not deserve it. He rose a flippin Titan to power.

That Titan took controll over him, he had no choice but to obey him. Kronos is too powerful. Plus Luke sacraficed his life so basically the world wouldn't end.

Maya To be honest, I've liked Luke the whole series, I cried when he died.He wasn't the bad guy, he was just misunderstood. He thought that his own father didn't care about him , and he had gotten influenced by Kronos, who took advantage of him.
In the end, he sacrificed himself. I hope that he does go to Elysium.

Olivia I've always seen Luke as a complex character. I think he deserves Elysium, because he realized his mistakes and made the conscious decision to sacrifice himself for everyone else. "The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap"... that line was spot-on, and I stand by the use of the term "hero". Luke never seemed truly evil, and he never lost all of his redeeming qualities. He still cared for Annabeth, and she saw that he could still be a hero. She was right, of course.

I think Luke was agreat character, but I'm not sure if his final acts are enpugh to earn him anything more then the Fields of Asphodel. He was a good character to begin with and he ended the same way, but I'm just not sure that can redeem him enough.

Very much agreed, Olivia!

Maari I very much think that Luke deserves Elysium because HIS MOM went crazy not to menchion his dad never really talked to him. Besides in the end in my oppinion he was really a key part in DESTROYING Kronos. Hence mending his mistake. I think he truly was not bad at heart just corrupted inot thinking people wanted him for a bad cause.

Azka Luke was my favourite character.he was a hero so I think he deserves Elysium

Gina Juliana~The Story Of Amelia Pond wrote: "No! He was never not guilty! He didn't have redemption! Why do you guys think so?"

He was controlled by a titan though. In the end he sacrificed himself for everyone else so he is a hero. I definitely think he deserves Elysium. Annabeth said it herself and he replied that he's going to try for the Isles of the Blest.

Zachary Rosier I understand what you are saying i just do not understand how if he spent five years serving Kronos how in the end killing himself to send Kronos back to Tartarus could save Luke and him going to Elysium

MartinInAMask Hmm well would you need Hades approval to get in to Elysium. If so I would think that changes things but if not I think he would make it in since he was a big reason Kronos was defeated.

Astra Yea

message 26: by Amelia (new)

Amelia M maybe his father asked Hades to make Luke go to Elysium

sorry if there are spelling mistakes

beeno dude he definetly deserves elysium

beeno in my opinion

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

He thought he was doing the right thing, didn't he? I think he 100% deserved elysium

Marlow Whether or not we believe he deserves Elysium, if Hazel didn't get it, he by no means deserves it.

Caleigh I don't think he deserves Elysium. He rose Kronos, what he did to Silena, he left Annabeth to hold up the SKY, and so much more oml. No Elysium for him.

message 32: by Zoey (new) - rated it 5 stars

Zoey He deserves it! He was kinda nice the whole time and it was jealousy that drove him to help Kronos. I'm not saying that he isn't fault because he still is but I just think in the end, he deserves to go to Elysium.

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

To be honest, I don't think Luke deserves Elysium. As much as i like him, he did try to kill Percy, was responsible for a lot of deaths and overall he was being not so great. But in the end he did realize his mistakes and sacrificed himself, but that doesn't mean all the crimes he did are going to disappear. The judges weren't being merciful to Hazel and said she has to be in Asphodel just to be with her mom, then think about Luke. I still love him tho, he's a great character.

Jasper Zweers no it is not because we know how the proces goes because of hazel and she would have gotten elysium and she was forced to do it by somenone who looked like her mom and she was jounger and there by knew less about the world luke on the other hand knew exactly what he was doeing he wasn't forced by anyone but his redemption might be good enough for fields of apostle just so you know

message 35: by Adarsh (new)

Adarsh Shrivastava People who think that kronos controlled him it was luke who went to kronos in the first place to destroy Olympus also kronos can not completely control you he can only show you visions in the dream if he was so powerful that luke had no chance to stop him from controlling him why didn't he control Percy then? He couldn't luke made his choices and Percy made his choices .In the first book Percy was his friend what did Percy do to harm him? Yet luke tried to kill him and almost did and then luke was in total control in Sea of Monsters as well he was ready to let all of his friends die at the camp by destroying the magical protection then also it was luke who agreed to do that as Kronos was just starting to occupy Luke's body so mostly it was Luke who was in control now yes luke sacrificed himself in the end but it was because of luke that almost all the Campers died many nature spirits etc died yes luke had a troubled childhood and he was angry at his father but does that excuse him from those horrible crimes then most terrorists or criminals are also deserving of heaven do you agree with that?
