If i can't find it in library ebay often has obscure books second hand- good luck and id be interested to hear you thoughts as im still not sure what i thought about it!
93 BULGARIA
Probably very Eastern European, a surreal series of thoughts expressed by a man whose marriage is in crisis. slightly bonkers but short in length and chapter so some merit.
94 THE YEMEN
I've not really gathered my thoughts about this book which is the story of a young woman who is gradually radicalised and goes of to Afghanistan for Jihad. It covers sex, clothing, family and religion and certainly was an interesting read.
Ian wrote: "Good find for a difficult country."Bizarrely it was on a waterstones tweet a month or so ago of books from countries banned by the trumpton. It was the only country I'd not visited and could find.
Just been looking at the translation prize list as well. Some cracking books for Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Algeria, Lebanon etc but none for my 3 missing Middle beasties - Bahrain, Qatar and Oman and indeed none for Trumptonville either.

Huw, pugh, Barney mcgrew, and donald too- hopefully laughter might make it all go away!!
One of the Egypt ones The Automobile Club of Egypt by Alaa Al Aswany took my fancy. I read his The Yacoubian Building for Egypt which got 5 stars from me.

Hello Roy, Please can you delete your message 265 as this is a thread relating to a personal challenge not a thread for author promotions- Thanks
96 MONGOLIA
i finally filled that huge piece of white on my map with this picture of life on the Mongolian plains. Very interesting.
97 GEORGIA
A story about a man born on the day Stalin died and given the dictators name. We then follow his life and family through to post independence, in an interesting and enjoyable tale in which the hero is dogged by his belief that the man of steel has possessed him.
98 CAPE VERDE
A rich businessman dies leaving a 300 page will which details his life story , interesting read .
99 BELARUS
A darkly comic satire on the commercialisation of the horrors the Nazi holocaust and communist massacres in Europe. The second half of the book moved from terezin in Czech republic to a town near minsk Belarus and the creation of a macabre museum.
