I can't remember the title of this novel that we read in eight grade. And it's driving me batty.

It was about how this tall, freak of a kid who lived in his grandparents (?) basement. He made friends with this freakish short kid...and, spoiler, at the end he has cancer or something?

But they do fun things, like Fourth of July and such, and he carries 'little freak' on his shoulders?

I'm really frustrated trying to figure this one out...just short of going to the jr high and demanding of Ms. Mason what the hell that book was.

Yes, Freak the Mighty is a good book. There is also a movie based on the book. I think it is titled The Mighty.
