Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 2 comments Alright

message 2: by Dixon (new)

Dixon | 1 comments I'm new to book groups. Will there be discussion of the selected book after a certain period of time? Or is it more a self-paced read-and-then-read-another deal?

Whichever it is, I'm excited about broadening the genres I read in - Dixon

message 3: by Tyler Leigh (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments Finished!

And the next book is... The Princess Bride by William Goldman

It has been on the top of my 'to-read' for a long time and now seems like the perfect time to read it.

message 4: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 2 comments I never read that book

message 5: by Tyler Leigh (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments Maybe we should have another board to discuss the books we've read if we want to.

message 6: by Tyler Leigh (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments Sounds great. I'll hopefully get started soon.

message 7: by Tyler Leigh (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments I'm working on Eve and Adam now.

message 8: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I'm still waiting for Dirty to come in the mail, so I'm skipping to The Princess Bride and will go back to Dirty when it gets here, probably next week. I'm playing the catch up game.

message 9: by Tyler Leigh (last edited Nov 24, 2012 08:53AM) (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments Ok, I finished Eve and Adam. It was really good and I'm looking forward to what you guys think about it. The next one I am suggesting is Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore I've heard it's really good. Let's keep our fingers crossed. Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan

message 10: by Tyler Leigh (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments I've finished Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore. I loved it. Does someone else want to choose a book?

message 11: by Melissa (last edited Dec 05, 2012 06:51AM) (new)

Melissa Just Finished Eve & Adam, moving on to Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore.

message 12: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Finally got Dirty in the mail!

message 13: by Tyler Leigh (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments When I worked in a bookstore, we couldn't hold onto copies of The Passage for very long... they kept flying off the self. It will be interesting to finally see what all the hoopla was about.

message 14: by Melissa (last edited Jan 19, 2013 08:24AM) (new)

Melissa Just a update on my reading:

1. Dirty by Megan Hart Read it and liked it
2. The Princess Bride by William Goldman read it and enjoyed it
3. Eve and Adam by Michael Grant read it and thought it was an interesting book with a nice twist
4. Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan reserved it at the library, still waiting for it to come in
5. The Passage (The Passage, #1) by Justin Cronin reserved it at the library, still waiting for it to come in
6. Divergent (Divergent, #1) by Veronica Roth already read it, its not one of my favorites, interesting concept but didn't like the characters

that will wrap up the books for this group for 2012, I must say I have liked the variety that doing a book club this way gives me. Can't wait to see what books get recommended in 2013!

message 15: by Tyler Leigh (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments I have finished Divergent, so I guess it's time to add another book. The Catcher in the Rye has been on my to-read list for a long, long time. It is what I suggest we read next.

message 20: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I tried reading Catcher in the Rye and I just can't get into it. So I'm moving on to The Cop with the Pink Pistol

message 21: by Tyler Leigh (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments I struggled a lot with Catcher in the Rye as well. For a short book, it took me a really long time to get through it.

message 22: by Tyler Leigh (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments Book 12 is... Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine, #1) by Ransom Riggs

Good choice! It's been a while since I've read it but I thought it was a good book. May actually reread it!

message 24: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Read Cop with the pink pistol, Still looking for The Con Job, I've read Mrs. Perigrines Home for Peculiar Children, I may reread it when it comes back into the library so I am going to say the next book is the book that has been on TBR the longest that isn't a series...

Book 13.... Strangely Sober by Essa Alroc

message 25: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Finished Mrs. Perigrines and Strangely Sober. I still haven't found a copy of The Con Job.

Book 14. Life of Pi by Yann Martel

message 26: by Tyler Leigh (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments I am having a hard time finding both of those books, but I'll keep searching.

message 27: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I'll check books a million for The Con Job. Now that I think about it, Strangely Sober was a free on Kindle book so I'm not sure how published it is.

message 28: by Tyler Leigh (new)

Tyler Leigh | 20 comments Agreed. I'll look for the book.

message 29: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Looks interesting! I'll see about finding a copy to read.

message 30: by Melissa (new)

Melissa My library found a copy of The Con Job and The Lying Game this week finally.

Melissa CascadeI either wasn't in the mood to read this type of book or Its just not my kind of book. I had to really make myself pick it up and then I was bored.

Need to move on to another book...

message 34: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I'm thinking going outside my norm and say we give Memoirs of a Bad Dog by Curtis Moser a try.

It's been on my list a long time.

message 35: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Does this group have an age restriction? There were a few books I looked at but I didn't know if there were under 18 in here or not.

message 36: by Melissa (new)
