Do you usually read dystopia? If so, isunod mo na ung Blood Red Road by Moira Young. For contemporay naman, try Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta.
Not really but I'm open to new things..To be honest I have been reading the same plots lately kaya nakakasawa na. I will try your suggestions, thanks so much Alona..Now I have several books I actually look forward to reading. Will let you know how I find it..
Hello Eos and Donna, welcome to the group!@Donna, YA lover din Ako. One of My favorite book series ang The Hunger Games. hehe. Enjoy po kayo rito!
@Venus madami ako gusto yung top 11 ko nasa profile ko yung nakadisplay na book covers dunSa series naman fan ako ng The Mortal Instruments, Vampire Academy, Twilight, House of Night, Percy Jackson, Harry Potter and many more
Eos, Venus, welcome to GR TFG! Eos/Donna: i read Nora Roberts' works under her alias J.D. Robb :) ung romance nya, d ko binabasa.
Venus: YA fan here! love THG > dystopian yan. try mo din Unwind by Neal Shusterman. Astig :)
Venus: I am an occasional YA fan! Ha ha. Di na kasi ako young kaya di na pede. Nakiki-YA na lang! ha haI think I graduated from reading YA when I graduated from college. I was 19 years old when I started reading Charles Dickens and Fyodor Doesteovsky books. But I still read YA occasionally.
I think you only become a YA fan up to a certain age. For me, I guess it was too early (that's the reason why I still read it). For some, even if they are in the 30's, they still enjoy it.
Hi Everyone! Joyzi, pasilip mamaya ng faves mo. Currently reading 3rd book ng Vampire Academy, tapos ko na until 5th book yata ng House of Night noon. Twilight, given na yun. ^_^ I have included in my to-read list Mortal Instruments and Unwind as suggested by Maria(thanks!).Hi K.D., am in my 30's kaya siguro medyo sawa na at select few na lang ang talagang engaging for me. They just don't move me the same way anymore. Ayoko naman ng masyadong heavy, yung Great Expectations nasa middle na ako nag quit. Got bored.I felt na parang obligated lang ako to read it kasi nga classic. Any suggestions?
Oh Venus, I have not read Great Expectations yet. I've read David Copperfield, Christmas Carol and A Tale of the Two Cities though. I also quit reading Hard Times before. They say that his best book is really Our Mutual Friend.
Hi Everyone, i'm excited to share with you this new blog i started just for fun. Hope you can follow!http://bookendsmeet.blogspot.com :-D
Hi everyone. I've been looking for an active pinoy book lovers group online and stumbled into this one. Nice to know that you actually meet up..I'm based here in Saudi though. More of a general fiction-type reader. Anyway, hello!
Hi, everyone! My name is Vienda. Law Student. I'm into legally or crime-related books, so I'm sort of a bore. Hehe.. I'm also a closeted (I guess not anymore) hopeless romantic, and I just love Judith McNaught's works. I found out about Goodreads for quite a while now, but it was only recently that I found out you could actually sign up.
thought it was Bienvenida, kaya Vienda, :P, agree ako sa tawag sayo ni Cary, mas madaling sabihin :D
Hello po! I'm Sandee from QC. First love ko ang reading. I read all types of books. Hopefully I will get to meet people na makakapagrecommend sakin ng iba pang books na di ko pa nababasa!
Hello Sandee. I think it's better for you to join the next meet-up. :) And welcome to the group, btw.
Hi Sandee! Welcome! New din ako dito, hopefully maging active reviewer..^_^ By the way, pag meron po akong nabasang magandang book which I would like to recommend or even just to talk about, saana po ako dapat mag-post?
Venus: You might recommend it to others. Or if you want to discuss about the book, try posting comments on the review of your friends. And if you're reading a book that's currently the group read of the Group, you can actually join the discussion there.
Hi Sandee, welcome to GR-Filipinos! You just joined the perfect group for you, we usually have meet-ups every month or mini meet-ups for everyone to socialize. We are planning to meet next month in SM MOA for the grand opening of the first Filipino Reader Conference, feel free to join. Hehe.
Hi Vienda, the closeted hopeless romantic law student (Haha, I can't stop laughing. I remember Danielle Steel and other romantic authors with lawyers as protagonist and being hopeless in romance.), welcome to GR-Filipinos! Don't worry, there are few readers here who enjoy reading mystery crime novels like Maydayeve (Cebu).
Hi Jill, welcome to GR-Filipinos! There is a new member in GR-Filipinos that is currently working in Saudi too (ma'am Venus). Have fun reading!
@Venus: Hi again, I think Rollie already answered few of the things that you might enjoy books and ways to recommend it. Besides those things mentioned above, (1) you can also recommend a book by recommending it directly to the user by using the recommend setting of Goodreads.Method: Open the book's page - Click 'Recommend it' (top right of the page, above 'Other Editions (#)') or click 'Recommend this book...' (Below the 'Friend Reviews') - You can recommend by 'Facebook', 'Manual' and 'Friends' (Usually your Goodreads' friends) - Choose the right person - Click 'Recommend' below the text box
You can also (2) comment to the user's profile and lastly, you can (3) join other groups available online. There are groups categorized by authors, topics, genres, etc. that will help you. I nearly forgot to mention, you can also (4) post your favorites books on this thread, Discuss Your Favorite Books and soon active readers will accidentally (most of them are intentional) click your link and share their ideas. Have fun reading and share the fun of reading to everyone!
Thanks Kwesi for all the info. Super ang info! Actually ang dami ko ng books to read ngayon kaya feeling overwhelmed tuloy! Kelan ko kaya matatapos ito? Just finished the 3rd book of Vampire diaries, I want to finish the series. Gotta go and read now, otherwise I won't have anything to post. BTW, am in Dubai.^_^
Hi everyone! I'm Veronica Mist, hahaha, though it may sound foreign I'm still one hundred and one percent pinoy! My book The Seven - Key of Credence will be soon out. Support me please? ^_^
The book is under Isshin Dream Publishing. I'll be talking about the book under Isshin Dream's group as well. Please join.

Hello Joyzi, thanks for the welcome. :)
Hi Veronica, welcome to GR-Filipinos! We are proud to all new Filipino writers and we usually support them here in the group. Last time, we invite Mina (writer of No Strings Attached) and Sotto (writer of Before Ever After) and did a small talk about their books and experiences. So we will be happy if you could be part of the group and experience the fun of sharing! Why not give us snippets about your book?
@Venus: Don't be sad, I have 500+ books on my TBR and I'm currently saving money for MIBF this coming September. I don't mind reading them all, as long as I invest my money to books (my friends told me that books are good investment, is it true? Haha). One-fourth of them are currently waiting in the province, but still I'm happy that my parents support me. You are free to ask any questions related to Goodreads.
@Joyzi: Haha, I don't have a choice but to spill it out but I'm proud of myself this month because I did not buy any books for 2 weeks na!
Thanks for the support everyone!
@Kwesi: my book is entitled The Seven - Key of Credence. It's about seven angels and seven demons, seven heavens and seven hells, seven characters and seven keys, seven virtues and seven deadly sins. It's a book for young adultsI hope that you'll love them ^_^
