Hi Ma. Ruby,Welcome. You can also express yourself freely.
Titled: Ang iyong, Kuya Doni
Har har har :D

oops sorry *blushes*., i thought the line "medyo bata bata pa ako" imposes that you're already old.

we were invited to a neighbor's (actually, they're relatives)house-blessing and i raided their private library, which houses an impressive Easton Press collection! the one i'm holding in the pic is Laura Esquivels's Like Water for Chocolate, personally signed pa! kala mo sa'kin noh? hehe, wish ko lang...

[kalungkot =(:]
Welcome sa mga bagong members!@ Ma. Ruby: I'm delighted to learn that you're also from Bicol at sa Masbate pa..I have also a friend there who happens to love reading, too.. law Grad ka? wow.. I adore Law students and grads..So I believe you read Grisham's Turow's and Meltzer's..? They write legal thriller and law stuff..you know.. I love Grisham and have been collecting his books..
Har har har, Jzhunagev and Aaron Vincent, I am alone in the room but I am laughing out load all by myself! So, what's the plan, sino ang letter sender at anong problema ang sasagutin ko? Ruby - good luck sa bar exam. Kelan ka magte-take? My elder brother is a lawyer (UP Law) and he is also here in Goodreads and we are both collecting and trying to read all the 1001 Must Read Books. We now have 421 of them! I read 68 already vs his 62! Mas adik ako sa fiction kasi. He prefers non-fic (so he does like John Grisham) and of course, his law books.
Hi guys, im jay aster, and i'm new here. Wala pa kasi akong sinasalihan na group e, kaya sabi ko sa sarili why not join the filipinos group first..hehe..i'm from iloilo but currently i'm working here in Makati.Lahat ng klase halos ng libro binabasa ko, from classics (dumas, etc.) to the recent popular books (dan brown), and from fantasy books (tolkien, jordan) to (u wont believe this) historical romances! (nagagalingan ako kay judith mcnaught)..hahaha..pero paborito ko sa lahat xmpre yung harry potter series..ti-nry ko ring magbasa nung twilight saga, pero hanggang 1st book lng ako, feeling ko hindi na worth sa time pa to read the other books (sorry sa mga fans ng twilight series).
Recently, i've read hunger games and catching fire and all I can say is that i haven't felt as excited (for hunger games 3) as this since the release of DH. Currently, i'm reading Christopher Moore's "Lamb:The Gospel According to Biff,..." and i'm laughing my hearts out, hindi nga lang siya recommended for people who are too sensitive about their religious beliefs.
Welcome, Jay Aster! Why don't you participate in the February Book of the Month poll? Closing na tomorrow. I am campaigning for Bridget Jones.
Jay Aster wrote: "Currently, i'm reading Christopher Moore's "Lamb:The Gospel According to Biff,..." and i'm laughing my hearts out, hindi nga lang siya recommended for people who are too sensitive about their religious beliefs."Welcome Jay Aster and to all new members I failed to welcome immediately. ^.^
Glad you're enjoying Lamb. It was a great fun for me.
Thanks for the welcome guys..Yeah, Lamb is pretty good, there is almost always something outrageously funny at every turn of a page.
Also, just voted for Bridget Jones at the book of the month poll, although the four titles listed don't really appeal to me that much..
Uyy! Bago uling member! Aba!
Thanks for the welcome jzhunagev (did i spell it correctly?,hehe) and Lynai. U've got a really beautiful name (if it's ur real name)..Hehe, Lynai sounds pretty much like "lin-ay" (do i pronouce it correctly?) which means a muse or a beautiful girl in the ilonggo language.
Yeah, it is and you pronounced it right. My friends gave me the name. To deviate from the more popular "Lynlyn"... Daw bagay man sya sa akon ah. Hehe! Have fun here. :)
So this means si Lynai na ang official muse natin...At si Jay Aster ang escort...
Hehehe! :D
Very high school...
Hahaha..Nice one jzhunagev..though i admit i never have been tagged as class "escort" back in high school or elementary. I look pretty horrible (nah, i'm just not that good-looking),hehe..I'm more of the, shall we call it, the "scholarly/nerdy" type back then..I most certainly agree though that Lynai would make a very fitting muse..^_^
Why me? And why muse? There's no need for that. We will all be busy reading books we wouldn't have time for that. :P
Of course we need a muse in our group...Basta, sa ayaw mo't sa hindi, musa ka na Lynai...
Hahahah! :D

Hello all! I've been a member of this group and have been here on Good Reads for quite some time now, but I havent been as active as I would've wanted to be for the sole reason that I update my shelfari account more.Tbh, I joined Good Reads (and shelfari, for that matter) just so I could keep track of the books I've read, especially the ones I own (because some of my books are back home and I'm in the middle of the desert right now), and not to make friends because I tend to be extremely shy, even online. LOL. But since most of my friends are not into books as much as I am, I always find it neat to meet people who, like me, loves to read. So here I am. :)
Some of the books that really hold a special place in my heart (and my bookshelf) would have to be the Harry Potter Series, Little Women and The Book Thief. These books made it real hard for me to pick up another book to read because of my tendency to get attached either to the characters or the story itself. In these cases, it's both. I'm more into YA books - blame it on my Peter Pan syndrome :)) - but I try to read other genres as well. Right now, I'm also trying to do the "1001 Books to Read Before You Die" list, just for the heck of it, and because I dont want to miss most of the great stuff. Sadly though, I've only read Tagalog books that were assigned in school before. But I can proudly say that I did really enjoy reading El Fili back in my HS days, so I plan on rereading them in the future.
Aside from books, the two other loves of my life would be music and poetry. I'm into arts and crafts as well as they are part of my profession.
On that note, cheers to everyone and happy reading! :)
I stumbled upon Goodreads when I was stalking my favorite author, J.D. Salinger who is now a big loss in the literature world. I'm not really updating my profile like I do with my blogsites but since Doni added me as a friend, I was encouraged to browse through discussions and I ended up joining this group. I read classics, psychological books, and a bit of surrealism. I'm a music addict too, punk rock and indie. I love music as much as I love books. I guess poetry sometimes is roped in to music. Well enough of music... I take pleasure in reading Salinger's and Murakami's. They never cease to amaze me. Catcher In The Rye tops my list. I think Holden's peculiarities make him likeable. I adore him as much as I adore Charlie in "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower" who honestly blurts out his innocent thoughts to an anonymous friend. I love the way both characters look nonchalant yet affectionate inside.
Keep digging those books guys. So many books, so little time. :-)
Welcome to the three pretty ladies you just joined in - Aislinn, Jade and Stoicindie! Aislinn - try to read Lolita and mesmerize by its prose.
Jade - I also enjoyed reading Little Women especially after seeing the movie adaptation where the young (then) Winona Ryder played the role of Meg (if I remember it right). Harry Potter and The Book Thief are among those still waiting for me to pick up from my shelves.
Stoicindie - I like Catcher and J. D. Salinger's death made me really sad. Just like when Frank McCourt (of Angela's Ashes) died last year. Oh, how can all the literary greats are dying one after the other?
Doni wrote: "I like Catcher and J. D. Salinger's death made me really sad. Just like when Frank McCourt (of Angela's Ashes) died last year. Oh, how can all the literary greats are dying one after the other?"Because it's now my time to literary greatness!
HAHAHAHA!! :D
Ala lang it just ring a bell kasi that's why I asked.
Hahaha!
Di bale, sabi ng kaibigang Elbert Or, the more the happier, the merrier!

I hate to break it up to you, our Filipino Group's Muse, that Jessica Zafra is a fellow alien. And I think she gels well with the Filipino crowd. Publishing those books and all, ending up being a celebrity. She formerly lives in the planet Blito-PG445. A good many a galaxies away from my former abode.
Hope that info made your day! ^.^
Just teasing you Lynai... ^_^bigyan na lang kita ng link:
http://www.goodreads.com/review/edit/...
if you'll notice in the far side corner there's the formatting tips text box, andun lahat kung papano mag-bold, italics, underline and everything ng mga texts... html kasi ang gamit ng goodreads at sana i-develop nila ang features ng Goodreads in the future tulad ng friendster or multiply for the convenience of the users.
Thanks for the link. Hehehe... Jurassic na muse at alien na moderator. Ang saya ng Filipinos Group ano? Hahaha! :D
