Yep, I tried The Alchemist and I couldn't finish it. It's either I fell asleep or my mind would wander off while reading.
I am Wil, I'm 22 years old. I live in Las Piñas. I like books but since I am on a tight budget, I venture different places just to find cheap books and good deals. I usually frequent Booksale branches in Muntinlupa up to the northern parts of Manila. Currently, I am very much engrossed with sci-fi and fantasy. In fact, I am planning to read all the books in the Dune Saga. After, the next series of books I would probably read is the hitchhiker's guide to galaxy or the ender's game.
Welcome Joy,Gael,Coeli,Wil and all new members! ^_^ @Joyzi di ko atang kayang kainin si bantay -_- balitaan mo ko kung anong lasa ng panda(Po) hahahaha!
@Po paniguradong mabenta ka sa meet up hahaha! maghanda ka na :))
And Hello sa lahat ^_~ could you guys check this one out/mark it as to-read/grab a copy if you can The Talking Palm: How the childhood storms of a young woman's life remained hidden until a palm fruit started talkingby Esther Jno-Charles maganda, relatable & a really must be told/read story..spread the word, love and awareness of Sheryl's story ^_^v
Hi Wilson, welcome to GR-Filipinos! Almost of the members here loved Ender's Game and Orson Scott Card. Haha.

I find Ender's Game interesting because it won the Nebula Award. I am very excited to read it however, I intend to finish all my Dune books first; I have read 6 out of the 13 books that I have - notwithstanding the fact that I don't have the 4 remaining books yet (there are a total of 17 books in the saga). More books to go. LOL.
Are there other sci-fi readers here? I hope you could add me up. Thanks!
Have a nice day Kwesi and everyone!
Welcome to GR Filipinos, Wilson! I have yet to read Ender's Game, wala pa ko matiyempuhan sa Booksale eh. :)i like sci-fi, but i'm into dystopia more.
Enjoy Ender's Game. careful ka lang dahil not all of award-winning books are for everyone. But i'm sure marami dito ang magvvouch for Ender's Game. :)
Ender's Game is so good it's epic. (And yes, I'm excited for the J.J. Abrams film adaptation.) I've also read the sequels, Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide. The books were completely different from the first one but they are equally good. Orson Scott Card's new book Pathfinder is also awesome. The way he played on space-time continuum blew me away and the ending will leave you wanting for more -- think Doctor Who's The Stolen Earth mixed with Fringe's Over There episodes. Seriously, I couldn't recommend it more. There is this blog I'm following, Stainless Steel Droppings, and the blogger is holding a Dune Group reading for July. I thought of joining that but I didn't have a copy before the group read started.
hello everyone. I'm not really new here. But it's only now that I got to introduce myself. I'm Pinky, Mom of 2, housewife and bookworm :) Just finished Llosa's Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter. Now I'm planning to read (again!)100 Years of Solitude and Gaiman's Smoke and Mirrors. My all time faves are Marquez, Sedaris, King, Gaiman and Jose.
Hello Dame (How do you pronounce your name?) and Pinky (I like your name! Cute), welcome to GR-Filipinos!
Hi, my name is Tess and live at Malabon. I found this site to be interesting and this is my 1st time to join a club who have the same interest. I just started reading again last Dec 2010 and told myself in this life time I would love to finish reading a thousand books. I love reading both fiction (except science fiction) and nonfiction books. Just say I'm a bookworm who also loves to join fun runs too. (10k & 21k) :)
Hi The (Dame). Nice name. Welcome! :)Hi Pinky: I'd love to have you here. Please be active. I love moms and married people who still find time to read. One Hundred is my #1 favorite novel for all times ever. I tried Llosa's Time of the Hero (his first novel) and I liked it too. I loved Gaiman's American Gods and I read and liked a number of Sedaris' memoirs. Who is Jose? Rizal? ha ha. Jzhun loves King (Stephen King I assume ha ha).
Tess: Reading and running? I used to do that but cannot do it anymore. Tina still does it!

Hi Pinky> I am also a mom of 2, working mom, bookworm, runner, cross stitcher, and occasional road biker. All these are great stress busters. Also happily married for 17 years.
Hi! Im neña and my friend recommended this site, she said that i can find new books to be read and perhaps motivate me to read more. I'm more likely a loner and spent most of my time doing coffee paintings.
have a good day everyone!
@Tess: Welcome to GR! I used to do cross stitch too, pero dalawa lang natapos ko (Guardian Angel at isang stemmed rose). Hahahaha. Tinamad na ako.@Neña: Welcome, happy reading! :)
@Alona: Thanks nice to join GR! On cross stitch, patience is a virtue. Meron din ako Guardian Angel hindi ko tinapos 17 years na. Paano lost the pattern. Now if I have cross-stitch project it's only using 1 or 4 colors. @Nena: Hi. I also have those alone moments and I enjoy the silence especially when reading a good book.
Hi Tess and Nena (wow, a painter)! I'm an occasional fun runner for 3K & 5K, cross-stitcher din! i think i finish 2 or 3 patterns, at wala akong nai-frame. haha!KD, yes! love mo pa din pala ako (dahil ako ay sinakal este kinasal at may anak na pero may oras pa din magbasa - maraming oras!) hehehe!
@Veneficus & Maria - Hello. Thanks for the warm welcome. Would like to know what you're reading now and if its any good.
Tess, you just click their names and see their profile including the books that they're reading, have read and to be read. If their profiles are private, send them your invites to be their friends. You may want to invite me too ha ha.
