JIM: No need to apologize. I'll be hunting for your book. Promise. Any of those names does not ring a bell too. But maybe it's me and the fact that I am not really into reading Filipino poems.
ROLLIE: I just noticed your avatar! Finally, inilabas mo na ang mukha mo sa buong GR ha ha! Good decision. You sure will have more female fans here.

Hi everyone! Im Chloe, from Cebu. I've been a member of GR since Dec 2010 but i haven't explored this site much. My reading taste is very varied, i go for: legal thrillers, gothic mysteries, time travel, art mysteries, inspirational, urban fantasy, historical/contemporary romances, philosophy, law, urban planning books, etc. Im looking forward to engaging in a discussion here and gain new reading buddies, as well.
Louize, thanks for inviting me here! hugs!

@ K.D., Veneficus, Ken and Cee~ Thanks for the welcome greeting! I will pop in and join the discussions later.
tnx Cee Lakambini! like my avi, I'm also cuddling and huggable!...HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! meet-up na yan!
Hi there! Bago lang ako rito. :) I discovered this site when I was googling "Must-read classics." :DAnyway, I became a fan of books ever since my aunt gave me Harry Potter book 1 back in elementary. Then that's where it all began. I started to read books on fantasy but then in college I met my asian lit professor and she just made me fall in love with asian lit.
I usually like to read books on magic realism, japanese sci-fi, asian lit, european classics and compilation of essays (most esp Umberto Eco's). :)
It's nice to meet all of you and hope that you could recommend places where I could buy cheap books, like Booksale or that stall at the Shopping Center and AS walk in UP. :D
Hi Francesca, welcome to GR-Filipinos! I also enjoyed reading books when I read Harry Potter but before that I already read books but not as a prior hobby. Hehe. Anyway, have you read Haruki Murakami's books? Talking about Umberto, I have some of his books but I want to know where to start reading his works.
Hello everyone! :) @Kwesi : yup, I read 5 books of Murakami's. :) About Eco, if you like reading essays, Five Moral Pieces is an excellent choice. :) Still finding time to read his other collection of essays so I can't say yet where to begin. I'm reading In The Name of the Rose right now and I find it a tough read. O.O hehe Anung books ba yung meron ka?
@Dana: Ano-anong genres ang hilig mo? :)

Chloe and Francesca, welcome to the group. :))
Po, Dana, Chowking lang ang napupuntahan ko for siomao. Meron pa ba sila ng ginger-something sauce?Francesca, I really liked The Name of the Rose. I've been putting off reading Foucault's Pendulum which I've listed as my next Umberto Eco read. Just because mahirap magbasa ng makapal na libro sa ereader. Same with Pillars of the Earth. Have you read History of Beauty? It's been recommended to me again and again.
@Cee: hindi ko pa nababasa but it's on my to-read list hehe. Ang hirap talaga basahin ni Eco, he has too many references to other materials hehe
Francesca, I'm glad you enjoyed Murakami's works. I only have 3 of his works so far, 2 non-fiction and 1 fiction that I'm planning to give it away.1. On Literature
2. Turning Back the Clock: Hot Wars and Media Populism
3. The Island of the Day Before

give away?
Rollie, The Island something? Have you forgot, I still owe you a book. I found it while lifting my old books just a while ago.
Rollie, Arte ha! Don't worry, you can have the book if you want to. I don't need trash! Haha. Kidding, where did I heard that line?
Hi guys, magandang gabi sa inyo.. Anong balita? haven't joined this discussion for a while.. Sinong excited pumasok? (May naeexcite pa ba? hehe) :)
so obviously you didn't like the book. Would it be okay to change the book I'm going to borrow if only it means I can avoid reading a trash one? haha.
Rollie, Haha, I never tried to read that book because of its condition. That's the reason why I'm giving it away because I know somebody will took care of that book. Hehe. So do you like the book or not?Faye, Me! I'm bored this summer, I was locked alone in a chamber full of books! I was hoping to meet new friends this year!
I changed my mind. I'm going to borrow a different book from you. Would it be okay? Kapalan na ng mukha to. haha

Francesca, i've also read Baudolino by Eco, it has a glimpse of his humor there with outrageous imagination. Yes, Eco is a tough read. I prefer The Name of the Rose, so far.
@Dana: I'm kind of new to the sci-fi genre, but so far I'm enjoying jap sci-fi, those Haikasoru books esp. :3 I'll also try to find a copy of The Hitch hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.@Kwesi: haha yep. The first novel I read of Murakami's was Kafka on the Shore and it was a complete mind****. haha So I loved him right away.
I enjoyed Turning Back the Clock, not exactly sure on the Italian gov't parts, but his thoughts on some other stuff were interesting. :)
@Maydayeve: Haven't read Baudolino yet. I'm trying to collect his essays first hehe
@Francesca: If you're looking for a good sci-fi, I suggest you to read Ender's Game or Ender's Shadow.
@Kwesi: chamber full of books? Sounds like fun. haha. Ako excited naman for my last year in school. haha. Tsaka to see my friends din. Bored na din ako sa bahay e. :)
Francesca wrote: "@rollie: thank you for the suggestion :) i'll check it out :)"you really must since you can just see it in BS branches being just neglected by some buyers. haha
Rollie, Grabe, this is my first time that somebody force me to borrow some of my books. Haha. Anyway, you can browse my online library if you want to borrow some of my books. Make sure I already read them. Niyahaha!Francesca, Niyahaha, I forgot to mention that I only giving away the last book on the list. But I'm not sure if you will like the book's condition. My first Murakami was Sputnik, it was a good book although I find it weird. Haha.
Faye, Anyway, how's your summer?
Kwesi 章英狮 wrote: "Rollie, Grabe, this is my first time that somebody force me to borrow some of my books. Haha. Anyway, you can browse my online library if you want to borrow some of my books. Make sure I already re..."I like to borrow DIVERGENT! Kaya mo? Bwahaha
Rollie, go to hell! Haha. You have to suffer before touching my Divergent book! Anyway, I saw a copy of Libba Bray's A Great and Terrible Beauty in hardbound and bought it for P40, mint condition and I ordered a copy online too. I will be glad if you're willing to own my never-touched copy than borrowing my blessed Divergent?
@Kwesi: I think I spent too much time reading books (that sometimes I forgot to eat, and lost sleep. lol) and also too much internet. haha. I've reduced my TBR list but then again I want to read so many books. haha. My family and I went to the beach last April ata, masaya naman. haha. Then I had reunions with my high school and some other college friends. How about you?
