[General] Introduce Yourself!
HI Bee! Me too, I love to smell books! maybe we could do some sniffing sometime, maybe on our next meet up? would love to meet a fellow "booksniffer" heheHi Kate! looking forward to swap and lend books to you!
Hi Tricia! welcome to Goodreads! 'tricia' books looks like an interesting compilation...
Hello! Mga kapwa ko Filipino :) Julie here, ehem! ehem!
I'm a fresh college graduate and sadly not yet employed. I've learned about goodreads because of my friend's recommendation, and now I so much love the site.
My love for books started during my college years (late bloomer :D) It all started with Twilight. Twilight was my first "lovebook" haha. I was super gaga over Edward Cullen, that after reading the novel there were countless days and nights that I'm like a limbo. I was so obsessed of it that I can't help myself wanting for more. I remember pa the time after I finished reading breaking dawn, I was like staring the book for an hour imagining some stories to satisfy the welling feelings I have. it was like a nightmare, so i started on diverting my attention to other books, luckily, thereafter came The Time Traveler's Wife, I was happy and satisfied because my addiction to Twilight had vanished, then little by little my addiction to reading began. I love fantasy, romance and adventure novels. I love Greek and Roman Mythology, also some times I'm fond of reading paranormal books like those written by paranormal expert jaime licauco :D
Before, especially during my high school days, sadly, I only read (English) novels for the sake of enhancing my English proficiency. I often neglected books which I think now are mostly interesting. Nasasayang ako sa mga times na sana nagbasa nalang ako. Before, my addiction was more on anime watching and reading anime magazines/ mangas but now, things changed. Instead of anime-marathon watching, I'm more engaged in reading. Before kasi, I thought it was hard to have good books to read unlike in animes so many interesting stories pero napagtanto ko rin na there are tons of books out there na super interesting din pala. for instance would be my SUPER favorite novel written by diana wynne jones which is Howl's Moving Castle, which has its own film adaptation made by the famous anime artist hayao miyazaki. I knew of the novel because of the animation, after watching I started to get curious about the book so I searched for it in the net then, luckily I found and bought a copy of it in fullybooked north edsa (hahaha, I will never forget the day, the feeling and anticipation I had).
then that's it, and now I still continue on buying/ hoarding and stacking up books bought from various bookstores. I realized that reading is the best remedy for a soul that seeks adventure and for a body that longs for escapade.
Nice to meet you all! Kinagagalak ko kayong makilala :)
Hi! I love Howl's Moving Castle (the anime movie) too and also Spirited Away (another Hayao Miyazaki film).
Hi love everything done by Hayao Miyazaki. and uber love listening to Joe Hishaishi. he did the musical score of almost all Miyazaki's films.

you're going to read 1001 books? that sounds fun and interesting and challenging, on my part xD. I'm doing a 31 day photo challenge which I do on my blog, and even at that, I couldn't quite commit. I need some strong will power and motivation!

Ranee, hey, here's a kindred spirit!"
Thank you! I'm now totally spazzed! having met someone who feels the same way as I do with HP and Snape!
@3sha: I love bargain books too! I oftentimes find my wallet drained whenever I leave a Booksale outlet!@Julie: I love the Twilight series too! Obviously not because of Edward Cullen but the way the Meyer's writing (simple, vivid and each page is event-packed) and of course, the time when those books came into my life! They actually brought back my interest in reading. Now I am into 1001!
@Joyzi: same here, i love all Ghibli made animations and those two you mentioned are my top favorites :) @Ranee: Agree! Love them all! After watching Howl's Moving Castle, I felt like crying, the song was so beautiful (Sekai no Yakusoku). Without further ado, I downloaded it ASAP and kept playing it on the computer until satisfied.
@K.D.: Thank you! :D nice to meet another Twilight fan. Indeed, simple, vivid, and event-packed pages. Twilight is the root of my booklove-life :).

@monaliza: me too, during college, i always find time to squeeze in my other readings (non-academic :P). most notable will be my twilight moments, to the point that i neglected my notes just to finish every chapter of it. yung feeling na, "promise last chapter nalang, eventually i just realized that i actually finished reading it. :))

Welcome to the home of Pinoy booklovers, Monaliza! Is that your real name? Very classy.@Julie: Me too. I had very little sleep when I was reading the Twilight series!
K.D: yes that's my real name, and i find it a bit odd.. (LOL)julie: same hir, i should've been reading my nurse's books nga eh, but instead i have this internal urge na kahit anung gawin ko, hindi ako makakatulog hanggat hindi ko xa basahin.. parang inaakit lang... haha

Hey you're a student nurse too? What year are you in?
Hello everyone. :) You can just call me Monique, I'm 30, a lawyer/public servant, currently in my 7th month of pregnancy, wife to a sci-fi/fantasy addict, and am crazy about books as well. By "books", I mean the traditional, printed and bound ones, not the ebooks that are the trend right now because one of my and my husband's projects in the near future is a combined personal library. Besides, I still love the feel, smell, and crispness of new books. Not to say though that I don't buy old copies ~ I'm a patron of Booksale for as long as I can remember. A trip to the mall would never be complete without a visit to any bookstore.
I mostly read fiction books, though right now, the "What To Expect" series is a necessity for me. My favorite authors are Anne Rice, Khaled Hosseini, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, and John Grisham. I don't do hardcore reviews like some of you here, and I am no book blogger, but I do simple reviews of the books I've recently read and assess in a few paragraphs the reasons why I like or didn't like a book. I'm fairly easy to please ~ just don't make me read the "Twilight" series all over again.
Happy reading, everyone. :)

Thank you. :) I've visited your book blog through Blooey. You have a great blog going. Have a nice day! :)
Welcome to this site, Monique. We have many lawyer or paralegal people here. So, enjoy! I also love books, brand new or otherwise. I always smell them. I like the smell of tobacco in books but I do not smoke! I also love Khaled Hosseini but I am partial with Anne Rice. I have no idea who Carlos Ruiz Saton is but I have John Grisham. I don't normally read bestsellers as I am a 1001 questor ha ha. But I love love the Twilight series although like you, I will never read it again!Joyzi: you are a graduating nursing student? wow. a reader-nurse! cool!
Yep I'm going to enjoy these last moments of procrastination since the next semester will starting to have reviews that will consume my weekend (my Saturday and Sunday Gosh!) and my vacation.

Thanks for the added encouragement!
Have a nice day and Mabuhay also to you!

Carlos Ruiz Zafon wrote 'The Shadow of the Wind', 'The Angel's Game', and 'The Prince of Mist' among others. The first title is my favorite one among his works. :)
JZHUNAGEV ~ You're welcome! And how do you pronounce your name? 'Jeyzunagev'? :)
JOYZI~ One of my younger friends (who actually introduced me to Goodreads) is a registered nurse who topped the board exams (#5) last year and is now in the UK. Goodluck and God bless to you! :)
Monique wrote: "JZHUNAGEV ~ You're welcome! And how do you pronounce your name? 'Jeyzunagev'? :"Yes! That's how it perfectly sounds. Jeyzhun would also be equally fine, to save you the trouble. Ehehehe...
Couldn't agree more with you that "The Shadow of the Wind" is one great book and I do count it among my favorite, or you use my blogging parlance: "It's definitely included in my dark chest of wonders."
Have a blessed morning Monique! ^_^
@joyzi and @monaliza: Are you student nurses! Good luck! I'm a nurse too! I just passed the boards this year :)

just finished The Hunger Games, currently reading Catching Fire and probably Mockingjay is the next all by Suzzane Collins... i'm not really into fantasy books but this really keeps me goin like the Twilight Series of Stephenie.
@K.D.: I agree, I love Twilight, but reading it the second time is a "no" :P. @Monaliza: yeeesss :) true! classes during my 3rd year in college ends at 9pm then an hour for transportation. 10 pm 'til 2 am nagbabasa ako :P (can't help it). It's like intaking 5x energy booster drink whenever I read my stuff. The more I read, the more I feel awake.
If I don't get to read, the next day will be "grumpy-day" :D. Goodluck sa studies ;)
Joyzi: Goodluck!
@Julie: I agree I try to read Twilight the second time (I borrowed a book from the library). I'm actually excited since I've just read the whole series from e-book, but I only read 5 chapters and I give up.
julie: haha, minsan naman pag graveyard shift nga eh, kung hindi caffeine, libro ang ultimate savior ko..basta iba ang effect, addictive talaga.. thanks!

@Joyzi: Kudos to you! at least you've tried reading it :) as for me, I was also planning to read all of it (twilight to breaking dawn). Sadly, I wasn't able to due to the influx of good books to read. That's why I lost interest in re-reading it :D
Angeli wrote: "Hi everyone! :) New to Goodreads~ I'm Angeli Dumatol. Nice to meet all you! :D"
Hi Angeli!
Finally you're here! If I reckon you're that lady who was featured at Inquirer for writing a novel for such a young age.
