Hi, I'm Alex.

Hindi ako marunong magintroduce ng sarili.

Uhhh. I'm in college, actually graduating, I only have my thesis to pass kaya I have so much time to do blogs, and register here.

Ano pa ba... I like YA books, almost all my books are of the YA genre. Pero ngayon, I wanted to read naman tipong mga literary winners and such. My favorite books include the Harry Potter series (eh, who doesn't?), Rice's Vampire chronicles, tapos siguro percy jackson. Favorite authors ko naman are Isabel allende, david levithan, and jasper fforde.

The only Filipino books I have read are those of Bob Ong's tapos yung comics ni arnold arre na mythology class at kay carlo vergara na zhazha zaturnnah. Yung Para kay B rin na libro, pero di ko natapos at yung mga required reading sa school. Hirap ako magbasa ng malalalim na tagalog kaya I stick with Bob Ong, madali kasi intindihin, but still, I read uber slow when it's in Filipino.

Mahilig ako magpunta sa booksale, kasi sobrang mura ng libro. Naiinis ako sa mga bookstores dito sa pinas kasi ang daming walang libro na magaganda. I'm a sucker for books with good covers, pag nakita ko maganda yung book cover, natetempt ako bilhin kahit hindi ko pa nababasa yung summary sa likod. Favorite ko rin puntahan yung NBS sa cubao, lalo na dun sa bargain floor nila kasi ang dami kong makikita na libro na sobrang mura.

Pag tanda ko, I want to own a book shop, o kaya something like a reading cafe, or better yet a library. Gusto ko ang amoy ng bagong bukas na libro, it's very addicting. Pag wala akong magawa, I go to the sites of our local bookstores to see what I should buy next time I go there. OC ako sa libro, I always cover them, ayoko ng nadudumihan, natutupi, o kaya nagkakagasgas yung cover ng libro ko. Feeling ko, mukha na akong stuck up dito hahaha.

Anyway, grabe, it's good to see so many pinoys here. Hello to all of you, sana we'll be friends :)

Hi Alex! I also have that dream of having my own bookshop/reading cafe. I enjoy reading YA books, it keeps the inner child in me alive.:p In terms of reading Filipino authors, madami pa din akong dapat iexplore. Masarap nga ang feeling na nakabalot at nasa mabuting kondisyon ang minamahal nating mga libro. Welcome welcome! =)

hi Alex! finally, nakahanap ako ng taong kilala si jasper fforde. naintriga ako sa libro niya. may nabasa kasi ako na article na magugustuhan ko din daw siya kung fan ako ni Douglas Adams. Eh fan ako ni Douglas, so bago ako bumili ng Fforde books, gusto kong marinig ang reaction mo.

Siya yung gumawa nung "shades of grey". Meron ako nito kaso, d ko pa nababasa... pero according sa mga reviews mganda daw.

Wow hello sa inyo! Ang dami ko palang kaparehong OC sa mga libro dito. Pag nacover ko ung mga libro ko, parang ang sarap sa pakiramdam, napakafullfiling. Pati ung smell ng new book.

Sa Shades of Grey, maganda siya, hindi common. Natuwa pa ako sa cover, I have the UK edition kasi. Got it from NBS bestsellers sa Galleria, I don't know nga lang kung meron pa sila nung edition na yun. Yung Thursday Next oo detective/fairytale nga maganda rin naman, nakakatawa ung isang review sabi Harry Potter for adults, parang ako - hindi ah! pero it's good din naman.

Kasi dati my friend borrowed my Vampire Lestat book, pagbalik nya may lines na yung bridge ng book! It was so annoying! I can't even let myself see that book now, lalo lang ako naaasar dun sa person. Hindi siya marunong magalaga ng book.

Ranging from sci-fi/fantasy to Pulitzer Prize/Booker Prize winners to astronomy/science/mathematics to short fictions of Alice Munro and the novels of Alice Walker and Gabriel Garcia Marquez to the thrillers of Stephen King to the social commentaries of Jessica Zafra and David Sedaris.

May pagka OC ako :D kaya may tendensyang kolektahin ang mga obra-maestra ng mga authors na currently napupusuan ko. So I have a collection of Gaiman's novels, anthologies, collected fiction at ang Sandman graphic novels; Terry Pratchett's Discworld and Tiffany Aching books. Almost complete set of Alice Walker's and Alice Munro novels. Currently trying to collect Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker books. Sigh. And oh yes, I have all of Jessica Zafra's Twisted books.

Hmm. Been thinking of starting on reading Coelho dahil interesante ang mga titulo ng libro nya. Ano ang libro nya ang pinakamagandang unang basahin ng hindi pa nakakabasa sa kanya?

I am quite positive that your being obsessive-compulsive will find a special niche here in this site, most surely if your fixation of books includes cataloguing, since nearly everyone who loves it here has a neurotic predisposition of making novels, comics, and whatnot somewhat more than mere hobby and pleasure. So, by that, I wish you have a jolly good time adding more and more books: the ones you already have, I must comment, are brilliant in their own light. You having Cunningham, and loving Pratchett, Gaiman, and Adams, has me determined on finally finishing my own collection of them, very good talents.

@Karen - have you tried Murakami? Most of us like him here.

@Frescille - pede kong ipahiram sa yo ang copy ko ng Para Kay B. my office is in Ortigas and my home is in QC. Don't feel threatened or something. Naghihiraman kami rito especially during meet-ups (big ones or minis)

@Karen - I also go to that website. Kaya lang mostly old classic books. Not the kinds of books that young Winron would appreciate (I think).

@Alex - here, we take good care of the books we borrowed. I even put plastic cover for those I got without. If you will put up a library someday, you will have to be less attached to your books. May mga unexpected na mababasa ang libro, kakagatin ng daga, atbp. For me, as long as the person who borrowed it from me appreciated your being willing to lend it, okay na sa akin. Huwag lang talagang consciously na vinandalize the libro mo like guguhitan (kaya ng taong nanghiram sa yo).

@K.D. No, I haven't. Been meaning to get his Wind-Up Bird Chronicle; but for some reason I always held back. Ilang beses ko na binabalik-balikan sa NBS... Hmm. Maybe this time I should make up my mind.

Re lending out books: There are books I love so much that I give them away with specific instructions to give it to other people to read after they're done with it. So on and so forth. That's what I did with Ursula K. Le Guin's The Left Hand of Darkness. I bought another copy of the same book from BookSale, for giving away again.

Re taking care of books and being attached to them: I am notoriously OC in taking care of the books that meant a lot to me. I am also attached to them, but not to the point of not lending them out. I guess the thing to remember is, why do we want other people to read the books we are reading anyway? :)

Also, in the second site, only 5 books can be downloaded for free for any 2-week period. Which is not too bad, I guess. The eBooks are in text files
