Rebakah Cooper is the main character from Terrier by Tmora Pierce...one of my favourites.. angel's unlimited by Annie Dalton is actually for kids... i just love this series a lot... the main character is very funny... you might find it weird that i read this kind of book despite my age... but i found children's book more interesting than the other books... especialy picture books... there's just soooo much meanings to them that you can pull out... and also can you belive? i found my very own first copy of angel's unlimited in a park near i live! since then, i've been interested in reading children's books!

Hi Nicole, Welcome to out Awesome Geeky Group. I must admit, your intro is one of the coolest intro I've read in this thread since I joined this group. We share the same love for fantasy. Looking forward to having convos with you about them. :)

Aaron Vincent wrote: "Hi Kaye! Welcome to this Awesome Geeky Group!!THG was my most favorite book ever until Unwind came along. :)"
Aaron, I would just like to say that you are an angel sent from heaven. i read the synopsis of 'Unwind' and i cant wait to get my hands on it, lol (im not kidding i was at work then and i so want to leave and buy the book)
i have been trying to find a book that has the same vibe as THG and i feel that this may be the answer to my prayers (sorry being melodramatic, **tilts head**)
anywho, i'll be bugging you again once i finish reading it.. haha

Have you already read "unwind"? You would never regret picking it up, buying and reading that book. Not a waste of money and time.
^_^
Kaye, yes, I'm an angel but I just doubt it if I'm from heaven. hahahaI had the same problem after reading THG. And I resolved it by hanging out in Powerbooks Megamall branch, reading synopsis and stuffs.
I don't mind you bugging me for book recommendations. Actually its one of my favorite activity, Spreading the Awesome YA Love.!! hehe. Welcome to the Dark Side!!
Big NO! People might get the impression that I am a Patch "jackass angel" Cipriano wannabe if I am a fallen one. hehehe..
Aaron Vincent wrote: "Big NO! People might get the impression that I am a Patch "jackass angel" Cipriano wannabe if I am a fallen one. hehehe.."hey i like Patch, not the book though...
@Ariel:sadly, i havent read the book (although im dying to, **sigh**)..
i have loads of stuff to do right now and my boss is breathing down my neck to complete it as soon as possible. so if i start reading now, i know i wont be able to put it down for a while. thats why im delaying it...
but i will definitely get round to it.. probably this week.. and then i'll be bugging everyone about it
hello everybody~i'm a newbie, and i found this introduction thread :D
i'm Dylan, currently working as a researcher (so i really get to read lots of books, although not all are fun, i tell you)~ i really love reading, and i just found this site through mindless surfing over at Facebook :D
it's just refreshing to know that there are Pinoys who read a lot :D and i'm really glad to join this bookclub for Pinoys and by Pinoys.
masaya ring mag-Tagalog paminsan-minsan, pag hindi talaga ma-express sa Ingles ang mga nararamdaman. haha XD
i like manga, fiction and political books most, but i'm open to other genre as well. i tried reading some sci-fi, pero parang medyo nahihirapan akong tapusin sila T_T i like to write too, especially essays and poetry. i love reading fiction but i'm not really good with it T____T
my ultimate favorite (kasi kung favorite lang, super dami) book is The Little Prince. ewan ko, but i've even tried reading it in the original French (nosebleed ako, kahit may kalakip na English yun sa kabilang kamay!) and in Korean :D it looks like a children's book, but it contains the lessons i think everybody needs to live out a good life.
so there. i hope i can get along well with everybody, kahit bago lang ako. it's always nice to see (virtually XD) people having the same interests as i do.
:D fighting~!

I do hope that you'll have as much fun as we're having here at Goodreads!
Feel free to join the multiple discussions we've set up here and, why, you can set up one yourself if we don't got the topic covered. Just feel free to join any discsussion...
We're all nice here...
My warm regards and happy reading...
aah... Little Prince is the best. sobrang iksi lang niya pero ang daming profound entries. tama ka, lessons in life and love talaga.
Hey Dylan, where's Natalie and Alex?!? heheheheSo you can speak in 4 languages? coolness. I also want to learn Korean and Mandarin so I can be one of the masters of Asian languages but I need to pass Level 2 in Nihongo before that.
I love Little Prince too. Such an optimistic novel.
Welcome to our Geeky Group!! :)

Welcome to Goodreads Dylan.
I like the Little Prince. The pilot got stranded in Sahara desert - no food, no medicine, no water, no protection to cold, sandstorm, etc. Was the little prince and other characters just his hallucination? Did he die? I have an impression that people just focus on the ethereal story we all know of. Have you ever wondered what happened to the pilot? Was he rescued?
wow everybody! thanks for the warm welcome. i'm starting to like hanging out here than in Facebook. hahaha~it's nice that a lot of us like The Little Prince. magagamit talaga kahit saan no? :D i'll try starting a thread on it kung wala pa. XD
@Aaron: haha, i can't really speak French, pero inaral ko 2 years in high school :P it's a lot like English, so to understand most I try using context clues. as for Korean, i did better in reading and understanding it. :)) wow level 2 na JLPT? cool. wanted to learn Japanese dahil sa manga at Jdorama, haha XD
@Kuya Doni: oo nga po, i had those questions sa high school teacher namin dati na nagrequire sa'min nito. maaaring hallucinations nya lang yung Little Prince and all those adventures, pero napaka-elaborate, ano? a part of me wants to believe in the more beautiful side of the story, na everything was true and all, but then...if all those were just a figment of his imagination, then i'd kill to have an imaginative mind like that. i'd like to think that the 'pilot' lived long enough to 'write' the whole book and tell the world of the Little Prince's journey. <3
Kuya Doni as far as I'm concerned the pilot didn't die of thrist, hunger or whatnot...A big sandworm ate him...
And then the pilot all along was the hallucination of the sandworm whereas it died due to hunger, thirst, and whatnot....
My pity for the sandworm... :(
Lolz!
Kuya Doni wrote: "I like the Little Prince. He always carry his drawing and show it to the grown ups he met hoping that somebody will understand his drawing.
I also wonder if the little prince is his childhood life.
I love the story it's so inspiring.
kuya Doni, i love to agree with Dylan about the little prince being real. But i think he's just a mirage or something of that sort or could be his inner self reminiscing his travels in a sort of "dream" landscape. Well, he did went back to his love, the rose. There was contentment, it might symbolise him coming home either him dying or him getting rescued. That is the beauty of the story, at the end of the book, you are full of hope, focusing on the positive aspect of the little prince continuing his journey and not on the pilot being in the sahara, who symbolises the "end" of his journey.
Hi everyone! I'm Lizzie. :)I'm also new here, i just joined this April and i find myself opening this page more frequently than facebook. I discovered this site because i was actually looking for e-books of Angelo Suarez's 2nd poem collection (who apparently was my ultimate crush when i was in college) and i ended up being here. But i wasn't so successful getting e-books of local writers though. :(
Reading books packed with adventure, and life lessons are not only my past time but a passion of mine. However, due to my school commitments to build up another passion of mine (treating illnesses, do medical research, help the poor and those idealistic blahs of aspiring doctors) I'm literally time constrained. So most of the time, I'm bound to and required to read boring, very technical medical text books.
So, I'm really grateful for short vacations, and long worry-free weekends so I could catch up with my other passion that I first mentioned.
I'm looking forward to share nice book things with you guys. It's a pleasure being a member here. It's like hollering out to the world that Filipinos are intellectually gifted, vast readers:)
Hi Lizzie! We're all nice here and we don't bite...
Feel free to join any of our discussions here...
Just feel at home...
My warm regards and happy reading! ^_^
@Jzhunagev: thanks! I figured you're all nice people here! and you've got interesting discussions that i'll surely join... :) @Bluemoon: thanks! yeah, history is very interesting. Med school is interesting too but it can be boring at times... yun lang, when i graduate i'm doomed to face more books because i'm taking the board exams... But it's all good!
hope to get to know you more guys... peace!
wow! another doctor! Hi Lizzie! Are you currently in medschool or you're already a consultant? I feel for you, my current read is always a medbook. hehe
@jamaicaska: hello there!!:) @ranee: hi ranee! I wish i can fast forward time so i'd be a consultant by now hehehe.. yep med school parin po:) I'm on my third year! How about you? Hoping to get to know you more :)
@Bluemoon: yeah! I'm just hoping I could finish med school right on time so whatever time's left for me I'd get on other things and remember there's life beyond med... LOL:D
hi lizzie: hmmm... pre-internship. enjoy that time. it's the best. I'm a third yr surgery resident. i still have 2 more years until i take my diplomate exam to become a consultant.
@Doc ranee: Oh my, starting now, I'm calling you doc :) I have so much respect for female surgeons. In our hospital, I think we only have a couple of female surgery residents from the department. good luck anyways on the residency:) @Marifel: Yeah, I figured that out:) thanks for the warm welcome!
Lizzie wrote: "@Doc ranee: Oh my, starting now, I'm calling you doc :) I have so much respect for female surgeons. We have an average of 2 female surgeons per year level, that's plenty. But you are right, there are few female surgery consultants in our hospital and most of them are breast specialists.
Hello...I'm Annneng. I've been part of this group for a while but for some reason i'm just introducing myself now. :))
Anyway, I'm a third year physics major. And most of my free time are dedicated sa pagbabasa ng libro na malayong malayo sa science. Para naman di ako masyado mabaliw sa pinagaaralan namin.
Walang akong particular na genre pagdating sa libro. Pero ayoko ng SciFi. Kung pipili man ako ng favorite it would be "God of Small Things" or "Life of Pi".
I hope we could all get along. It's nice finding people with same interests as me. :D
