Hello Im new to this group and Im really happy I found one for Filipinos! Im in love with reading and read all the time! Nice to meet you all!
Hey there guys. Good Evening. :) As you can see I'm also new here in this group and in this site. So, yeah.. Hi. XD I'm happy to know that there are Filipinos here that have the same interest with me. So, I hope that I could make some friends here. :D
Okay. That's all. Bye-bye. ^^
I forgot about posting in this thread! Sorry! Well, anyways, the name's Monfred. I'm currently taking English in UP Diliman. I am in love with books. I think they're avenues of imagination and creation. Literature's the most noble form of art in my opinion, if I might add. Glad to meet y'all!
Hello, newbies! :) Welcome to TFG! I hope you guys enjoy your stay -- and post around the other threads, too. And maybe even join our meet-ups? We'd love to meet you guys in person (view spoiler). :)
Hi, everyone! :>I'm Jalyn and obviously, I also love to read (though I'm a late bloomer) But atleast, I've discovered the joy of reading not too late. HAHAHA. I don't have a favorite genre. I read everything I could lay my hands on as long as it is interesting for me.
Looking forward to discuss books with you guys. I hope we can be friends! :)
P.S Thank you for inviting me, Ms. Louize. :)
Hello guys!I'm Maia and my mom said I started reading when I was # years old. I started reading funny komiks, then Liwayway and moved on to Pugad Baboy when I was in grade Three. Hehehe...
I started reading "real" books when I was 10 years old, we lived in Zambales back then and the library fell down when Mt. Pinatubo erupted and my dad took home 2 sacks full of books.
And the rest is history...
I love Stephen King, Wilbur Smith and Ken Follett. I also like books by Sidney Sheldon, John Grisham and Sherrilyn Kenyon.
I will basically read anything, I like horror, thriller, legal, paranormal but I don't like romance books that much. But I will read one if I'm bored.
I am a very dedicated reader. I can finish up to 2 books a day, depending on how long the book is. It normally takes me a day to read a "short" (300 page) book.
I am now at a lost of what book to read, so any suggestion is welcomed.
:)
PS:
I hope I don't get in trouble, but here goes:
I can't stand 50 shades of Grey and Twilight!
^ HAHAHAHA No, you won't get in trouble for that. I for one hate those. T_T So much that I generally avoid any book with romance + vampires/wolves. I've heard so much of this Ken Follett. I haven't read any of his books, although I have one right now waiting: Hornet Flight. What say you about this one? Have you read it?
Oh sorry. Welcome to the group! :D
MAIA: Stay away from the likes of 50 shades, they leave nothing to the imagination :) As the movie is coming out this year, why not take a detour in scifi and try Ender's Game? It's a huge favorite here in TFG. Then you'll understand why we're excited for this:(view spoiler)LS: I haven't read any of Ken Follett's thrillers, but his historical fiction is excellent (The Pillars of the Earth).["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
hi mia!!! welcome to the group..reading suggestion? try reading YA books, dey r good. i cant recommend u d buks dat i read coz its either romance or erotica..^-^eniway, try reading Legend by Lu Marie..its good jst finishd reading it...
Hi Jalyn, Maia! Welcome to TFG.Maia: I second Ycel. Go read Ender's Game. I am currently about a little less than 3/4 of the book. I am losing sleep over it already. It's that good. :)
You may also want to try the Bartimaeus series by Jonathan Stroud or Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness. :D
Ycel: That poster! Aieee! Flash suit!
Hi Maia! Welcome to the group! You can read Smaller and smaller circles, it's our May discussion book. And a big YES for Ender's game!
Btw, are we going to watch Ender's together? Parang tagal pa eh, pero HOHOL?
Ranee wrote: "Btw, are we going to watch Ender's together? Parang tagal pa eh, pero HOHOL?"I think HOHOL by default :)
JALYN AND MAIA: Welcome to TFG! It's always wonderful to meet kindred spritis. <3Re Ken Follet, I've read Lie Down with Lions and A Place Called Freedom -- they're both good, if you like historical fiction and political intrigue. Pillars of the Earth is his most popular work, I guess, and I still have to read it. :)
Hi Jalyn and Maia! :) Welcome to the group. :)Ranee and Ycel: Yes to Ender's Game HOHOL. Catching Fire din that month, so medyo magkakasawaan na naman ata tayo. :D
Maia: I can't stand Twilight too. Okay, fine I actually liked it when it first came out, but I totally hated it after I finished Breaking Dawn. Utter WTH. :)) I agree with their Ender's Game recommendation, though! :)
Ender's game is good? i'm connecting to my inner YA..hehehehe...the last YA that i just finished reading is Legend...before that, it was Kelley Armstrong's The Summoning
....both are good books... hehehehehe
Thank you po! :)Actually, I liked Twilight, too, when I was in highschool but as I matured I realized how absurd the story is. Hihi ^o^
@Maia, don't read Fifty Shades, it will just pollute your mind. ;)
welcome here maia!I'm a newbie also... My name is Alyssa! ^^
@ maia its not that I hate those books but I do not like them too.
@ LS I also agree to you, I also avoid books related to vampires, romance and werewolves. hehe
Uhm. So, hi. I'm Meryl and I just joined this group like... ten minutes ago. hahaha! So, again, hi.
I read books na something that catches my eye, basing from the title, the back cover, and the reviews. I don't have a favorite pag dating sa genre ng mga books. I just read, read, and read. Kahit na ayaw ko yung story sa start, well, I'll still finish it kasi sa end, malay mo, andun yung best part.
So, college grad and soon to be (God willing and sana please please!) MIT graduate na din. Not working 'cause I'm really sick and I find a place of peace when I read books.
So, I joined this group kasi I want to find good books, good reads, and friends na din along the way.
So... yun lang! :'3
Welcome to the May newbies (Maia, Yssa, Meryl)! If you are looking for recommendations and are feeling adventurous, why not read the monthly selections of the group and then join the discussions? That way, you can find possibly new favorites and friends (regardless of how you react to the books). :)
Maia: I also read Funny komiks. I pity the kids now; the Komiks (yes, with the capital K) days are gone.
Hi Guys! I'm Janika!and well I'm a bibliophile, since the dawn of time,:D I read any books and any reading material I get my hands on, I go Book crazy and will discuss a book for hours and hours, unfortunately not everyone I know would find this interesting, so I joined this group so i could join discussions and find new books to add to my reading list.
I am looking forward to discussing books and other stuff with you guys!
