[General] Introduce Yourself!
Hello guys! Decided to join this wonderful group after a year of signing up to Goodreads. I'm not sure if reading is my passion but I do love to read. My mom infused her love of reading to us kids at a very young age. I do not have any particular favorite genre but my first love is Austen. I probably have 3-4 copies of her works lying around the house - I think 4 copies of Pride and Prejudice or Persuasion are not enough so I'm planning to buy another one for good measure. The Vampire Chronicles are my second love and for a time I was in love with the Brat Prince (geeky crush that I don't think I'm over yet now that I'm... well, now that I'm old enough). :)So glad to be a part of this group and I'm looking forward to learn things from you. Happy New Year, btw!
Hey, I'm Eaunice and I'm 15 (: I like to read all kinds of books but lately I've been into classics. I've been on Goodreads for a while but I've never really got into it, until now. This group seems like a good one ( the reading buddies seem awesome! planning to join one soon). May you all have a prosperous and happy new year !
Hi! I'm Nekka, 17. signed up for Goodreads just an hour ago and found this Group so I joined immediately. Seems cool. Hope to meet new friends here. Have a blessed New year ;)

Hello everyone! I'm Jem, one of the first members of Bookmooch and Flips Flipping Pages in Shelfari. Because I was busy chasing the dream, I became inactive and left the group. I registered in GoodReads years ago, just to create an account but never really explored it back then..and now I'm glad I did! Other tidbits about me: I'm 22, trying to be a doctor (still counting the years before I can actually say I made a difference), I love reading anything YA and the occasional chiclit. :-)
HELLO NEWBIES *waving*All these young people, I feel obsolete, yet I feel giddy at the same time. :)
Hi there! :) I'm Arianne. I'm new here and I love to read, obviously. I'm also a huge fan of the Hunger Games and Rick Riordan. But I consider myself still new to reading published books because I mostly read fanfic when I was younger. Now I have a shelf stacked with great books. I wish to get to know other people who also love to read. Happy belated new year everyone!

I see the word fanfic! =)) I started fanfic and books at the same time actually :P Haha, mind if I asked you what fandoms you read? Wish we could be friends!
Hello! I'm Renzy :)I'm a newbie here just made this account today. I am into reading than writing. The type of books I read is Romance. self-confessed hopeless romantic. If I am not reading, I enjoy listening to kpop. While I was browsing, I've seen that some of you are into the hallyu wave. :D
I hope to meet new friends here! :)
Hi! I'm Jill from Iloilo. Good to know there are book lovers here over the net. I don't get to have friends who loves books as much as I do with the technology advancement they prefer gadgets rather than a good old paperback novel in their hands. Currently, I'm having problems with all the books I have collected ever since I learned to read. Is it advisable to sell or keep the books instead? Since paperback novels are expensive, I go for ebooks so I see this as a dilemma as well since books are crowding the small space I have at home. Any replies will be welcome. Thanks!
Hi guys! I haven't been active here in Goodreads although I've been a member for a few months now. Anyways, I'm Claire, Now I'm into reading more than into writing. The genre I prefer are YA and Chick-lit. Btw, I've been browsing and it's nice to know that you guys have events/get-togethers. Sadly, I won't be able to go to those even if I'd love to coz I'm from Bacolod -__- but I'd love to get to know fellow bookworms. Hope to make friends here :)

I have a question. Before kasi, when I read a book whether it's the trashy, God-knows-why-I-even-bothered Sweet Valley High or a humble genius called To Kill A Mockingbird, I'd always get something from it that would rub on me. Say, the literary style. In a way I would always stab my pen a little below the surface, fashion my writing style the same way (a little) until a new book came along. To put it simply, I used to read like sponge. But recently I read like a filter. It's like books are water to me now. I'd feel warm, cold, or just lukewarm about it, but they eventually go down the drain. Books have become absolutely volatile! I wish, and I did try, to revert to the older reader version of me but to no avail. I feel jaded and I've not read that much either. What do you think is my issue? -Truly, Whinny Arse. [pardon my grammar, he's a masochist]
Hello! I'm Goldie, and I'm a newbie book blogger. Well, since 2010 but I wasn't very active. I've been in Goodreads a couple of months now but this is the first time I joined this group. Hope to have great discussions with all Filipino booklovers out there. :)
Nibra wrote: "I have a question. I think I know how you feel. That happened to me before, like, the books I read just didn't appeal to me anymore, you know? Got over it though when I changed the books I was reading - from YA lit to horror books. I find that much more exciting and enjoyable than before, so yeah, that might be your issue as well. Maybe you just gotta find a different kind of book :) And lol, don't force yourself to revert back. It will be futile =))
Oh and hi Goldie! Welcs to the group! Le' be friends!
Minerva Clara wrote: "Biena: that's nice to know. Meron makakarelate saken dito. Hehe. True?? Pwede! I'll be your tourguide. LOL"I'm planning to go there soon. Kasi, hindi ako natuloy sa UP-Iloilo last National Debate Championship. I'll tell you kapag na-plan ko na. Yay! :)
Um. Hi! :D I'm Jill from Rizal. I love reading books. Obsessing in YA fiction mainly, Dystopian, Fantasy and Chick-lit. I'm also open in reading more/different genres din. And, I'm really really looking forward to have book gossip/chat/talk with you guys and be friends as well. :)

I feel you! I can relate with shadowbreaker, my love for reading re-incarnated when I tried a different genre. I guess when you grow up and become mature, your tastes/likes changes as well. So, I'd give you the same advice, try a genre that's out of your comfort zone :)
Guys, if you wouldn't mind, can I ask for your twitter usernames so I can follow you? thanks!
PS: welcome Goldie and Jill!
Hello peeps, welcome!Nibra wrote: "What do you think is my issue?"
Nibra Hi. Book lovers do get illnesses once in a while too. So don't be too hard on yourself. I haven't read that much, but I think you're reading preference is growing faster than you believe. Your sponge is getting overly soaked. It's a phase, and every reader goes through that. Shadowbreak is right, don't force yourself to revert, try discovering new genre instead. Soon enough, you'll find the books suited for your current phase. Then, do same next time you experience it. Before you know it, you're a brand new sponge. Cheer up! :)
Hello! It's been a long time since I've been with this group. I just finished my third and last book in a series about the Philippines during WWII. This last book is about the guerrilla groups formed during the war. It has a stronger romantic thread than the others, but it's historical fiction, and there is a lot of fact and history in there!Joyce Shaughnessy

Hi there! I'm JR, a part-time banker and a full-time geek who's passionate about a million things, one of which includes reading!Cheers! =)
Hi newbies! welcome to The Filipino Group! If you are into YA, mystery/thriller, crime/suspense, or even romance, then add me up. :)Nibra, Sweet Valley High got me into reading, along with Nancy Drew series. So seeing your comment that it is trashy, God-knows-why-I-even-bothered, ay nakakataas ng kilay.
