same here.. even my gf told me so. Kakabili ko lang daw bibili na naman ulit.. haha

I can't seem to keep track of the new members coming in. Anyway, in behalf of the group, I gladly welcome you all! Feel free to join in on the threads, especially in our monthly read. For December, we will be reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Kwesi, the moderator will set up the discussion thread over the weekend. It's something to look forward to, yes?See you all around and have a great weekend! :)
oh why charlie &tcf? :( Yeah anyway, there's something about the stuff tim burton touches that i always feel compelled to stay away from. there's something unnaturally organic about his theatrical execution that gives me the creeps. i know that the film adaptation is authorial expressive and almost independent in terms of aesthetics. but gawdness, the characters are clockwork-orange grotesque they even infiltrated my nightmares! johnny deep, oh lawd! why people think he's a sex god baffles me to no end. anyway i'd try participating on this activity. x.x
Nibra wrote: "oh why charlie &tcf? :( Yeah anyway, there's something about the stuff tim burton touches that i always feel compelled to stay away from. there's something unnaturally organic about his theatrica..."We actually share the same views about the movie. It's a children's tale gone wrong in so many aspects. Haha.
Nibra wrote: "oh why charlie &tcf? :( Yeah anyway, there's something about the stuff tim burton touches that i always feel compelled to stay away from. there's something unnaturally organic about his theatrica..."You are my new best friend. A Clockwork Orange reference! Haha. Agree on all points—except about Mr. Depp. Gwapings e. Ganun talaga, kahit ano gawin, kilig naman mga gels. Wouldn't mind being the dude. Haha.
@Biena indeed. there's something about children's books adapted into films expressing authorial off-center horror sensibilities that doesn't sit well with me. i am so glad that Tim Burton did not touch Harry Potter. He would have done the world a favor if he had his hands on twilight though.
@reev ah- clockwork orange. i thought i was going dyslexic i wanted to tear my hair off. girls find him hot alright. but gawd, the only time i'd watch him as charlie (again) is if i am held at gunpoint and either i watch that or do a twilight movie marathon (or just kill me). his portrayal was a cinematic nightmare for me. i never had such an awful nightmare (from a movie) since the exorcist.
Hi New member here! I was actually kinda hesitant about joining the group since a lot of the other members seems to be reading a totally different genre from mine.. i read to entertain myself so therefore my books are of the fluffy? kind???? But I am a filipina although I emigrated to the US years ago...
Haay, I love Johnny Depp! loved him as Edward with the scissorhands, loved him when he was a barber named Sweeney (Todd), loved him when he was a vampire in the Dark shadows, or when he had gone mad and a hatter in wonderland. And oh, i like Tim Burton too and the fact that he does not comb his hair (like Helena Bonham Carter), makes me at peace to know that there is someone out there that does not comb his/her hair like me. hahaha.
Hello po! Bagong member lang po. Ako po si Karla. 1st year AB Communication Arts Student ng Angelicum College. Mahilig magbasa at magsulat. Mahilig kumanta at sumayaw. Haha.
Johnny Depp. Don't you think this guy is immortal or a god or an Endless (lol)? He doesn't look like he's getting old. His face is almost the same like it was years ago!
Me too! I love Johnny Depp, since 21 Jump Street ('yung mga hindi inabutan 'yun hwag na mag-comment,hahahaha). I've seen all his movies, along with my daughter, even the most drab. Same goes to Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter. They are all genius in their craft. I don't know any other actor who can completely and convincingly re-invent themselves other than these 3 and Robert De Niro.
Hi I'm Aian, new member po from Laguna. I like all kinds of books so please recommend anything and i'll see if it interest me. Thank you! http://kakuroch.tumblr.com/
Louize- and the overrated Meryl Streep. :)) She could dissemble herself seamlessly. Depp has had stronger roles but always overshadowed in the Oscars.
Hi! I'm new here. :) I've been a member of Goodreads for about a year, I think, but I've only had a lot of time recently to properly become an active member. Also, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I *like* where this is going. :) Looking forward to interacting with you all. :) -jeng
Oh. Welcome to everyone. You just joined a very, very beautiful group. That's a very good thing, considering that this world might end anytime next month. Hahaha.
nik wrote: "Oh. Welcome to everyone. You just joined a very, very beautiful group. That's a very good thing, considering that this world might end anytime next month. Hahaha."Nik, I forgot about 12/21/12. Does this mean I don't have to cook for Christmas eve? Haha
Hi everyone, i just started last month i think. i didn't know about the whole site until i stumbled on it while googling something nice to read. this is cool. :)
Hello.. In from Zambales, I love reading and that's the reason I'm here.. Ang dami kong ebook pero minsan inaabot ako ng siyam-siyam para makapili ng sunod na babasahin. Uber happy na my Goodreads at least may point of direction at lessen na din time mamili. Katatapos ko lang ng
Hello again :) Are there any Goodreaders here who want to meet up to discuss their favorite books somewhere down south like in Alabang?
Okay, it's time to say massive hi's again! *cracks knuckles* Let's do this. :DRin: Hello and welcome back! I lurked around the group din before...I think I joined 2009 or something? Tapos, I finally said hi and showed up sa isang meet-up and I never looked back. :) Hope we can meet you too, even with law school! We have several lawyers in the group. :)
Clai: I remember you! Parang nakikita ko mga post mo before. :) Hope to see you in a future meet-up. :)
Nelz: Hello to you too! :)
Marc: Hi! Welcome to the group. I'm from DLSU-Main, so hello neighbor school. Haha. Pero matagal na ko graduate, so. :)) I know several people from CSB -- I used to give a talk on NaNoWriMo for a class there. :)
Katrina: Hey, it's you! Welcome to the group! :D Haha, I can't remember how we met -- did we meet because of blogging or something else? Anyway, really hope you can join us in one meet-up. It's been a while! :)
Nikka: Hi! Welcome to the group. Don't worry about being socially awkward -- I think we all have our own awkwardness, and it makes things interesting. :)
Ryan: Hi! Haha, mabilis talaga usapan dito, maski ako di makahabol minsan. Sa totoo lang, mabagal na to, dati mas mabilis pa mga usapan. :))
Tang/Sam: Hello! :)
Pam: Hi there! Ah, New York. One day makakapunta din ako dyan. :) Welcome to the group!
Jas: Hi! I think I saw you sa ReaderCon? But I don't think I actually talked to you there. But hello, welcome to the group! Medyo na-starstruck ako, haha, because I know you as Avalon guy. :)) Hope we get to see you in one of the discussions. :)
Ching2x: Hi! Nahihirapan din ako sa classics before. You can start with the easy ones, yung mga medyo pambata para masanay ka (A Little Princess, Peter Pan), then move on the more challenging ones. I find that the trick to reading them is to take it one page at a time. Just make sure you read a few pages everyday para di ka mawala. :) Once you skip a few days, medyo mahirap siya balikan. :)
Nibra: Hahaha I may be one of the few girls who's NR about Johnny Depp. Or any Tim Burton film. Ewan, hindi ko lang sya trip? I don't find him hot, either, so. :))
Anne: Hi Anne! Oh don't worry about it. We all read different genres. And I also like reading fluffy stuff! :)
Karla: Hello! :) Haha sample ng pagkanta? j/k. Welcome to the group!
Sheepsie: Hi! Welcome to TFG! You like Charlie...so I hope you get to join us sa discussion on the 15th? :)
Sheena: Hi, Sheena! :) Haha Google is your friend, and I'm glad it helped you find the group. :)
Nina: Hello! I read Anna Dressed in Blood early this year and I had to read it in broad daylight kasi mabilis ako matakot. Haha. I liked it naman, di naman ako nahirapan matulog after :))
Okay I hope I did not miss anyone! *stretch* Happy December everyone! :)
Hello, I'm dardenitaaa, and I suck at introductions. I really wish I could tell you interesting things about me, but all I really am is twenty-two and all kinds of awkward. And that I love books and talking about how much I love them, which probably explains why to this day, I am still not wholly convinced of the feasibility of having a boyfriend; my life is too preoccupied with monstrous to-be-read bookpiles and ilusyonada book wishlists. A girl can dream. Okay, I’m writing weird things I shouldn’t be saying.
Anyways, I like strangers too, and I like them better when they become my actual friends, and I hope to meet lots of kindred souls here. Us, eternal soulmates in literarylandia.
Am overwhelmed that reading is still all the rage here in our motherland, and this book club looks promising and cool on so many levels. Yaypoints!
I also blog and am always on the lookout for fellow ditzy book bloggers. Links please!

hi Tina! Yes I did see you sa Readercon. I'm usually the type who says hi to everyone I know but ang dami nyo kasi dun kilala or acquainted ako medyo nalito haha sorry about that! I'm sure we'll talk soon in one of this group's events! See you! =)
Dardenitaaa wrote: "Visit mine at http://thebookblah.wordpress.com "Hi girl! Nice blog. Welcome to the group.
hello, hello! my curiosity got the better of me and i went searching for filipino groups here on goodreads and voila! i found you guys. ^.^i'm jen, a 38-year-old bookaholic who can never say "no" to a book bazaar or sale. taught preschool (seven years) and ESL (3 years) and have been a freelance writer on and off. i'm currently an editor and have a never-ending little notebook that constantly gets updated with books i want/need/lust over...and once i win the lotto, i'm going to buy every single one! *evil laugh* i also have several ideas for books i dream of writing one day (though i need to keep reminding myself to jot those ideas down in one of my many notebooks).
i come from a family of book lovers, collect a menagerie of things, and am mom to my dogs, cats, and goldfish. i've been known to be friendlier online than i am in person (it takes me a tad longer to warm up to actual people in the flesh...go figure) but i hope that doesn't discourage anyone from a virtual wave and greeting. hehe.
Okay so....Hi! April here. 21. My job eats most of my time these days but I still find time to read because it is what's keeping me sane haha. I created a Goodreads account (actually I didn't, I just synched my Facebook account to this) just for the sake of reading reviews and checking out which to read next. Having said that, I, most of the time, read through suggestions. I trust my "bookworm" friends' judgment way too much and so far they haven't failed me. I'm a Potterhead. I enjoy Riordan stuff, too. I cried, no, bawled while reading John Green's TFioS. I like Baldacci, Sheldon, Albom, Crichton and the likes. I'm open for suggestions, though. My fictional husband is Ronald Weasley. My fictional boyfriend, though, is Kellan Kyle (Thoughtless). And my fictional dream guy is Lucas Scott (though that might be asking too much haha). Last book that I have read is Riordan's The Mark of Athena. So much for an introduction. Heh. Feel free to visit my "personal" blogsite http://aprilheartsred.blogspot.com, leave comments if you feel like it. I wish to participate in here too and meet/be friends with all of you, hopefully, and I will try to be active for as much as my schedule would allow me. :)
Welcome to all the new members :D
There's so many, so I'm not gonna name names. Just to avoid missing out on any :P
Hope to be friends with all of you :)

Thanks for adding ;)
Hi all!It seems Tina has got almost every newbie covered so I will greet the fairly recent ones with a hearty welcome! :)
Dardenitaaa: Hello! Don't worry, I am also awkward with self-introductions but when it comes to talking about books, I kind of get carried away too, so. ;)
Jen: Hello! *waves* I can just relate with the long list of to-be-read books! :)
April: Hi! I bawled over TFioS too. It's one of my most favorite reads this year. :)
TFioS is the first J. Green I've read, which I enjoyed too. I ended up reading his other works. All save Papertown and that Holiday-themed collaborative novel. I think TFioS is his best and it stands head and shoulders above all his works. :]]
Welcome to the new members!~ Hi, I'm Chibivy. Feel free to add me. :DBtw, I think I saw a thread here in TFG dedicated for this topic, but I can’t seem to find it now. Anyway…
I have started a new blog. Actually, I have been in the blogging sphere for around four years already, and I’ve tried various blog providers (Blogspot, Wordpress, Tumblr, Livejournal, Xanga, Multiply, Typepad. Name it. Hahaha). However, I only keep blogs for my personal use (e.g. daily happenings, teenage rants, random babbles)
Now, I created a new blog for something I really want to do. It’s for my creative juices. Well, it’s dedicated for my original writings. I also intend to post my reading experiences there. So generally, my new blog is about my world of words. :>
Kindly drop by http://tracinginfinitewords.wordpress.com if you have time. :) My new baby is just a few days young so I’m just starting to publish my ‘words’ there. I’d appreciate if you’ll visit it. ;D
(I still have a personal blog, but I think it’s better to “promote” this one. Haha.)
And oh, for other Wordpress users out there, can I ask for your blog links? I wanna follow yooou~ I managed to visit other members’ Wordpress blogs, but I can’t keep track of all the active users. And lol, you might feel weird if a random person commented on your posts, so I’m asking now. :))
Thanks! :D
P.S.
Anyway, if there is really a thread for this kind of topic, please tell me! I don’t know where I should properly post this. ;o;

Hi, can you do me a favor by following me on Blogspot instead? haha it's a "personal" blog too, actually. And I only created it because my previous home is closing (Multiply). So forgive me if you'll find lots of random daily life stuff in there. I do reviews sometimes too, though. :)
and I don't know if its proper to promote that in here as well haha, or if there's another thread for these kind of topic, please do inform me. Thanks :D

The world will not end, though!! I refuse to believe!! But let's party nonetheless. :))
Greetings, everybody!!

Yea'. I'm just such a huge fan of Katherine. But that significantly grew after I watched 27 Dresses :)
