Becky Rivers Not sure if this is appropriate but I would like to recommend C.L. Wilson and her fantasy series. (She has flying cats!!!)
She is an author on Goodreads, I hope you will check her out.

I read the first two in this trilogy, I think it might be a good pick actually, ty! I need to start a sticky thread for book suggestions too, thanks Becky!

message 3: by Cherish (new)

Cherish (lady_cherish) | 94 comments I've also found a steamy little duet by S.E. Lund, 'Dominion' and 'Ascension' ... vamps, vamp slayers, possibly angels, steamy sexy bits and even a little D/s. Only on Kindle, so far. Author tells me paperbacks coming soon.

Veronica Belmont (veronicabelmont) | 33 comments Mod
I need some suggestions!!

message 5: by Karina (new)

Karina I've pretty much passed on the Rachel Caine love to everybody and they seem to enjoy it!

message 6: by Cherish (new)

Cherish (lady_cherish) | 94 comments And there's always "Bitten" by Kelley Armstrong, the beginning to a great paranormal series and one with a very strong female protagonist.

message 7: by Tabs (last edited Oct 30, 2012 06:48PM) (new)

Tabs Meredith Duran's Wicked Becomes You. Great romance. Also, gets bonus points for some superbly sexy usage of the word "quim."

message 8: by Nic (new)

Nic (nicmo) | 93 comments i sent a couple of recommendations via twitter. when do we find out the Nov. book?

message 9: by Heather (new)

Heather Finley (heatherfinley) | 49 comments I'd love to see them do something by PC Cast. Her Goddess Summoning series definitely falls under vaginal fantasy. It's been a long time since I read the Divine ones but I seem to remember them being the same way as well. Fun combo of myths an modern.

I really wanna read these books, I have always wanted to. I think we'll make December a forum choice month! Shall we do a round of Genre narrowing and then title narrowing? Or just titles? If local groups got together then we could establish some suggestions and then put a visible poll up for books to vote on, does that sound good?

message 11: by Becky (new)

Becky | 18 comments JR Wards Black Dagger Brotherhood is a good series, yes I know it is alpha male dominated but I like the world she built with it.

I'd say pick genre first then title. Help narrow things down a little.

message 13: by Becky (new)

Becky | 18 comments I agree, start with genre. Then narrow it down from there.

message 14: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 493 comments Mod
I think it would be fun to have a genre poll, take nominations from everyone on the genre and have enough time before the November hangout to do a few rounds of polls to narrow things down. We might also have enough time to announce it in advance and give everyone some extra reading time since the holidays are coming up!

If you want help running some rounds of polls, let me know!

message 15: by Cherish (new)

Cherish (lady_cherish) | 94 comments I agree re: genre poll, first, then title. I, also, like the idea of extra time to find and read chosen book. Busy time of year coming up.

message 16: by Zadiela (last edited Oct 31, 2012 04:01AM) (new)

Zadiela | 6 comments I don't know if it's been suggested before but 'The Hollows' series by Kim Harrison is pretty good, it was my first venture into this genre. Also relating to a point raised in the last hangout, she's got magic and she get quite powerful with it, there's definitly blowing stuff up and demon magic. Rachel the protagonist is quite strong, she can get a bit whiney at times and does seem to look for trouble but I enjoyed all of the characters in these books, they have sexy parts that gave me that 'oooOOooOOO' feeling spoken about but it was also well written enough and the characters developed to actually make me cry when things took a turn for the worse.

Oh and actually I've always seen Felicia as Rachel aswell!

Ramble over.

message 17: by Jute (new)

Jute | 238 comments Although I like the idea of an occasional pick coming from a poll here, there are some problems I've seen in other groups you might want to watch for here.

There's been controversy over authors recommending their books or getting people to join groups specifically to vote for their book. So you may want to have something in place about that.

Also, one thing I really love about this group is how I've read some thing I wouldn't have picked up otherwise. When you have a poll it just naturally becomes a popularity contest and we're going to end up with fewer of those picks. So although I'm all for an occasional poll, I hope you'll continue to have picks that don't rely on polls.

I second this. An occasional poll to take some of the work off the ladies is okay, but I really like being exposed to books and authors I might never have read otherwise.

If we had a nominations thread and then had Felicia and the ladies pick the books for the polls we could hopefully avoid some of that. There still might be some inflation of the votes - but at least we would know that the books are good suggestions.

message 20: by David (new)

David | 4 comments I agree PC Cast and Kim Harrison are both great. One of my favorite series is Laurell K. Hamilton’s Meredith Gentry. I would love to see the ladies talk these over.

message 21: by Cherish (new)

Cherish (lady_cherish) | 94 comments I don't specifically know why, but I've avoided P.C.Cast for some reason. Whenever in a bookstore (which is often) there are always piles of her offerings and they always seemed far too plentiful and cliche to have any substance. Have I been wrong and this author is just incredibly prolific?

message 22: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (sceriddle) | 95 comments After hearing the most recent VF meetup, given the kind of book Veronica wants to write herself into, she should totally read the Graceling series by Kristin Cashore and the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce. They're right up the alley of Veronica's dream story!

Both series have definite romance, although it's YA romance so the sexytimes, while they happen, might not be raunchy enough for this crowd's tastes for a VF book ;)

message 23: by Nancy (new)

Nancy | 1 comments I think we should read some romances where the girl dresses as a guy. I have not found one I don't like yet. My two favorites are Gentle Rogue by Johanna Lindsey and Velvet Song by Jude Deveraux.

message 24: by Martha (new)

Martha (blackrose2582) | 14 comments I'd HIGHLY suggest Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning. Not only is there hot tension in the book but the story is great in and of itself. It's the first in a series (5 books total). Fantastic series, I think the ladies discussing it would be quite entertaining.

This thread has also got me curious about her writing - I've read part of her co-authored series House of Night and wasn't a fan. But, I don't want to hijack this thread completely, so I've started a new thread over here to discuss her!

Shannon wrote: "After hearing the most recent VF meetup, given the kind of book Veronica wants to write herself into, she should totally read the Graceling series by Kristin Cashore..."

I would definitely recommend Graceling for readers who don't mind a more YA focused book. The romance was good, but like Shannon says there's not much in the way of smut. In fact, I would say the smut meter comes in for Graceling around the same as it did for Poison Study.

message 26: by Michael (last edited Oct 31, 2012 07:41PM) (new)

Michael | 12 comments I was going to recommend Jenna Black's Morgan Kingsley http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/72... and my girlfriend suggested Katie MacAlister's Aisling Grey http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/50...

message 27: by Meryl (new)

Meryl | 1 comments Try the Accidental Series by Dakota Cassidy, The Accidental Werewolf is the first. Once bitten Twice Shy is by Jennifer Rardin is also a great book. These are more modern day and not so much bodice ripper. Jeaniene Frost is also an awesome writer and J.R. Ward should definitely be given a look at. Karen Marie Moning is a great writer as well. Most of these writers in this forum I have read and should definitely be given a look at in the Vaginal Fantasy feed.

message 28: by Jjosua (new)

Jjosua | 1 comments If you like the idea of suddenly appearing in this kind of book, you might like the Summoning series by Robin D. Owens. The first book in the series is Guardian Of Honor.

message 29: by Shawna Z (new)

Shawna Z (shoezimm) I just joined so I am not sure if this has already been suggested (I didn't see it anywhere though) but I love Tanya Huff's Seeker books.... the first, "Summon the Keeper" is very well written with entertaining characters, some delicious romantic tension but without a lot of bodice ripping play-by-play details.

message 30: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 13 comments Lesbian Pirates! That's what VF needs. We have Branded Ann or Water Witch: The Deceiver's Grave. I have made my recommendation.

I've read....3 of those so far and enjoyed them. I believe there's a 4th I haven't picked up yet though.

message 32: by Peter (new)

Peter | 55 comments A niggle with the early books in Kim Harrison's Hollows series is that, for EVERY significant action Rachel took, there were SEVERAL consequences where she was mostly a helpless victim. However, her world and its characters were interesting enough that I persevered with the series. In the later books, the active/passive balance is better.

Another small annoyance is that her character is 6 feet tall, which is unusual for a woman (though perhaps not so for witches), and that EVERY guy is taller than this.

However, every book in the series that I've read (6 so far) has been interesting, fun and sexy. Her relationship with vampires, particularly her (female) vampire colleague, has some kinky aspects, and I also liked the sexy-but-not-carnal experience she had with a fellow (male) witch.

I think this is a good idea Vicki! We'll get nominations for series and then I'll pick the top 10 and then we can get you guys to vote on them, the top two will be the picks for December!

message 34: by Paul (new)

Paul | 49 comments What might be fun is if Felicia, Bonnie, Veronica, and Kiala each nominated a book for a poll, and then we voted on those four. I don't suggest that we do this every month, but once or twice a year might be fun.

As mentioned above, having a poll every month could be problematic. I definitely enjoy it when our hosts pick out books (can you say Cthulhurotica?) that might not survive a poll.

message 35: by Brittany (last edited Jan 30, 2013 06:31AM) (new)

Brittany | 1 comments Hello there, I'd say pretty much anything by Mercedes Lackey. Some of her stories have more "Sexy Time" then others. Nor would I say they are the best written but they are fun as hell(Though I am not sure if I meant to be laughing at some of the parts). I personal love her fairy tale retells the most. The black swan is pretty awesome... ( though there not much of the good stuff. As a story though I like it.) Another book though Teen like Tithe by Holly Black. She's also got some awesome goodness going on in there. (though not the hard some stuff) But her book are wonderful.

And, now, I'm reading Retribution, book #3. Still loving it. Easy reads and LOTS of sexy scenes.
After chatting with the author, I am happily awaiting books 4 & 5, which are in the works :)

message 40: by Gunnhildur (new)

Gunnhildur Rúnarsdóttir (grafarholt) | 173 comments If you haven't read The Snow Queen (The Snow Queen Cycle, #1) by Joan D. Vinge I highly recommend it. It does however only seem to be available used or on audio from what I can tell. I would love for Vaginal Fantasy to pick it for book of the month.

I have not read World's End (The Snow Queen Cycle, #2) by Joan D. Vinge The Summer Queen (The Snow Queen Cycle, #3) by Joan D. Vinge I was not aware of them until recently.
But I think that The Snow Queen (The Snow Queen Cycle, #1) by Joan D. Vinge can stand alone.

message 41: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (darthval) | 75 comments I'd like to see us read anything by Ilona Andrews. Both the Kate Daniels and The Edge series are fantastic.

I totally love the Fever Series, also.

I like the idea of having pick the next read polls a couple times per year.

Whatever happens, I am loving the VF book club. I have discovered some great reads that I never would have otherwise, even if I have not liked them all.

message 42: by Shannon P. (new)

Shannon P. | 9 comments I'd like to suggest the Sharon Shinn Samaria angel novels. They're some of my favorites and I think they fit into the Vaginal Fantasy mold.

Anyone else read/love these novels?

message 43: by Felicia, Grand Duchess (new)

Felicia (feliciaday) | 740 comments Mod
I'll be putting up a poll this week to choose next month's book! The way we did it last time, we did a blind suggestion poll where people can write the books in if they want, and then I culled the top ten. I think an easier one to do would be to do a NON blind poll and have you guys see who is voting for what, and submit your own suggestions to the poll as well. Actually, I'll post it today :D

Sally | 7 comments I'd like to recommend S.E.C.R.E.T. (Secret #1)
by L. Marie Adeline. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16...

I heard an interview with the author and it seems intriguing. No paranormal, but plenty of sexy times.

message 45: by Meowzabuth (last edited Feb 12, 2013 12:32AM) (new)

Meowzabuth | 14 comments Ever since the first VF Hangout I have been dying to recommend Margit Sandemo.

Legend of the Icepeople! Historical fantasy fiction romance.

There are 47 books in the series, they are all short and written in a light, enjoyable style makes them easy to breeze through.

But just because the writing style is light, some pretty heavy stuff goes on. The saga begins during a plague during the late 1500's Norway with this one: Spellbound.

They are total comfort reading. Sexy-times vary in amount and style from book to book, character to character. Some books have more than one set of love interests.

The one downside with the translations is that they don't seem to have the awesome original covers, which include classics like these:

Feber i blodet

Våroffer

I know that there have got to be some other VF peeps out there who have read these books! :)

(I edited this to correct the number of books in the series.)

I can't believe I had forgotten about them.

Reading the first two books for VF would be great. This is such a good series.

I read the first book when I was 12. I have to admit, some of them are a bit racy at least for a 12 year old.

Yay! I knew I couldn't be the only one! My sisters and I are obsessed with them.

I just keep thinking how much fun they the VF girls would have with them. I could just see Felicia enjoying the soppy romance of the Silje storyline, and Bonnie hating that Silje gets "saddled" with the orphans, but then Bonnie loving the bits with Sol running around seducing anything with chest-hair and going on hallucinogenic "wild rides" to have sex with Satan. (Ok, those might have been slight-spoilers but I prefer to think of them as interest-grabbers!)

I'm gushing too much perhaps, but they are so gooood!

Lisa (lcatano) I'm new to the group so maybe this is old news but I just finished the dark Duet Series "Captive in the Dark" (The Dark Duet, #1) and "Seduced in the Dark" (The Dark Duet, #2) by C.J. Roberts. and it literally blew my mind. When it was over my heart was pounding out of my chest and I was stunned speechless trying to figure out what the heck just happened. It's most definitely going into my favorites list.

Traci Martin | 4 comments I would recommend the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness. I really enjoyed the first two books, and I believe the third will be released soon.

You should also check out the author Katie Macalister. Her Guardian series was good, and also the Dragon serieses(?--what is the plural for "series"?) that were a spin off of the Guardian. She's written a ton of books in the paranormal romance genre, and has a humorous approach that I enjoy. My husband gets a laugh just reading the titles on my kindle.
