Ohh...The Gathering - Anne Enright...please! I was about to start it anyway so would be good to be able to discuss it too.
Category 1: By George by Wesley Stace (because it has been TBR for awhile, and my friends keep talking about it - I need motivation!!!!)And I've already read the entire Gemma Doyle trilogy, so I can't vote for that one (otherwise, I would!)
Quite a list we have here everyone! Keep them coming. Tomorrow is the cut off for Noms!

That's a brilliant choice - loved it
Well, if we arent in agreement, then we wont do Scottish authors/Scotland. SOrry. I dont mean to cause a war.
So we will nix my nom for Gideon Mack and the Ferguson nom. Damage is undone!

yes..id have to strongly protest against Scotland being like Ireland cos its in the same vicinity. That would be like saying Canada and USA are almost the same place, or Australia and New Zealand - youd have a mutiny on your hands :)

Hmmmm as I am married to an "Irishman" I'm not sure he would agree that "Scotland" - is "closest enough".
not wanting to sway anyone but ive just started on a Ulysses audio book... oh my god, hardwork is an understatement and all ive got to do is listen...very clever literary style, but tortuous. Still. will be glad to say ive crossed it off
I love all the literary references in Lost. I think they add the widespread appeal. Even us "bookish" people feel justified in watching;)
Lori, I have Lost on my DVR to be watched tonight, I'll have to look out for Ben reading Ulysses. Not that that will make me want to read Ulysses mind you, Joyce is some seriously hard work!
Joanie wrote: "Not that that will make me want to read Ulysses mind you, Joyce is some seriously hard work!"I see the name James Joyce and I start having bad flashbacks to high school Senior English class! Nooooo!
Do you know I have yet to read a James Joyce novel. Isnt Finnegans Wake his? I have this urge to buy it and try it.....
and that being said....
Noms are offically closed!!
I will begin creating the polls and will post when they are ready!
