The Hunger Games
question
How did Thresh die?
In the book, Thresh took Catos bag, and Cato went into the field to attack Thresh and Cato killed him. Hope this helps :)
I think Thresh died from Mutts because Cato had blood on his forehead in the movie. Thresh usually fights with his fists in close combat. Cato got the scars from the Mutts.
Omg here's how he really died, The game makers created a finale finish off to kill the last tribute, they created a tiger monster which killed Thresh in the woods and the cannon boomed and attacked Peeta they ran after Katniss shot it but it didn't die, so they ran on top of this thing where Cato popped up and fought them and Katniss shot his hand to let go of Peeta and he fell down with the tiger and was getting attacked by them which katniss hot him in his brain after. WATCH THE MOVIEEE
He died by Cato in the book and died by the mutts in the movies
I am going to guess that Cato killed him. Cato was wearing the body armor to protect himself from Katniss's arrows. He would have had to fight Thresh to get them. I can't see him having enough time to put on the suit if the werewolves were chomping down on Thresh.

I always thought it was the wolves by the way he screamed.
I'm pretty sure what happened was this:
He was sleeping when the mutts attacked him. Yes, he took cato's bag so Cato was planning a raid on him, to get his backpack back (hehe), which is why he was near Thresh when the mutts attacked, which is why the mutts were chasing him.

Was it a battle between Thresh and Cato? We don't know what was in Thresh's district bag. So he was probably in need of something. It is a possibility that he was struck by lightning seeing as how he was in a field (can anyone say magnetic) yikes!
I'm also not so sure Cato could take Thresh... hmm

BTW - that's AWESOME that your husband read the series. i could barely get my husband to go see the movie w/ me let alone to read the book.

i knew i wasn't alone in thinking that his death was another one of the confusing things between the movie and the book. i wonder if the screenplay writers to stories like this realize that we'll pick up on EVERY discrepancy since we're so fanatical about some of the series.
I think it was probably an epic battle between Thresh and Cato. As i was reading i knew due to the book being solely from Catniss's POV that i was probably going to miss it, but im pretty sure they squared off one on one.
I thought he was killed by Cato, but this is what I found on internet on http://thehungergames.wikia.com/wiki/...
"The cause of Thresh's death was not directly revealed in the book. Katniss and Peeta assume that he was killed by Cato after taking his backpack and killing Cato's district partner, Clove. Katniss and Peeta see Thresh's distorted picture in the sky from their cave, and it can also be assumed that he was killed during the thunderstorm, created by the Gamemakers, as the cannon that announced his death was inaudible. There is a discrepancy between the film and the book in the manner that Thresh was killed. In the book, Thresh is killed 5th, before Foxface and in the movie, Thresh dies after Foxface, resulting in finishing 4th place, which is a very high score for a tribute from a poor district like 11. In the movie, you can hear the wolf mutts howling and Thresh screaming, followed by the sound of a cannon, meaning he is killed by the mutts."
