Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 10:29 PM. Okay...so...I'm still distracted by football. However..I finally beat this dumb game on my phone after like three months. Lol...I'm a bit more awake now, sort of. Go figure. Maybe I will try to read. I also need the last of the Halloween candy to be gone!

What are you going to read?

10:03am EST. Cold and gray, good day to stay in and read. Hub had to work the night shift Sat and now is on 2-11 this week. It really throws our schedule off. So now I'm drinking coffee and waiting for him to wake up. Watching an old Bette Davis movie on TCM. I love to watch movies from the 20s, 30s and 40s. (I would love to have been a flapper or a Ziegfeld girl in 1920 New York.) Son is home from hospital but he hasn't been able to get his meds. He was approved for Medicare part D effective 11/01, but he doesn't have the card and he can't afford his meds without it. I'm kind of worried about him not having them. Drug prices are just so outrageous.

Chris, good luck on your first day!!

Cindy, hang in there. I'm on those kinds of meds too, and it just takes a while for them to be effective.

Happy Monday everyone!

I SO love TCM! The actors then were the real deal. I rarely watch TV anymore but that's definitely my go-to channel when I do.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 9:26 AM. Okay...Let's try this again...I'm not awake enough to try to go back and fix my last post since I'm on my phone. After coffee and breakfast, I need to go run an errand for my dad. I just want to get it over with so I can come back home and read. I also need to do the dishes and get some laundry started.

Good luck today, Chris!!

message 7861: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) @Heather Actually, I'm still not sure. I'm debating between a reread of Warriors: The New Prophecy: Midnight or a first time read-through of The Monstrumologist: The Final Descent. Sometimes I wish I was a book-a-day person so I wouldn't have to choose between books like this; I would only have to wait till tomorrow for the the one I don't choose today :)

Carrion Comfort is an awesome read. Really creeped me out. One of the best books I have ever read.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 8:58 PM. Tonight was a late night for my sweet husband, so dinner was later than usual. I made baked tomato, basil, and garlic chicken, acorn squash with butter, dark brown sugar, and nutmeg, and wild rice. It was delicious. We have been talking since he got home about our week, and it sounds like a bit of a busy week. He will have some late nights at work, Wednesday, I am going to dinner with an old family friend who is in town from Maine, and this part is exciting: Friday night we are going to the opera of Carmen. Mark won the tickets at a silent charity auction for his hospital. It will be the first opera for both of us. I'm going to get some more reading done in The Sleeping Doll. This is, so far, is a compelling read.

One more day of orientation and the. I'll be at my office Wednesday to get my training materials and start work at home for the next 8 weeks. So far I think I will really love working for this company. Thank you all for the well wishes. I really appreciate you all thinking of me.

11:46PM Have not had much of a chance for reading today, so I am gonna read a bit right now before bed.

Kathryn sounds like you are gonna have a busy week. Enjoy the opera, I don't think I could stand it myself I don't like that kind of music at all. I also am enjoying The Sleeping Doll.

Chris glad to hear that you like this new company. I hope you are happier with this job than you were with your last! Good luck!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 9:37 AM. Good morning!!!! I'm enjoying some coffee and oatmeal at the moment. I need to go grocery shopping today, but fortunately I only need a few things. I am going to read for a while this morning. I didn't post on here, as usual, right before bed. I had fallen asleep with Gizmo on the couch, and I was so sleepy, I crashed in bed after Mark told me the good news: the Packers lost. Anyways, happy Tuesday!

Janie, Mark and I have never been to the opera, so it will be a neat experience for us both. It is always neat to find something neither of us have done and be able to do them together. Opera music isn't our thing either, but it is the making of a memory. Lol!

10:51am EST. Had a horrible night. My son, who is only 3 days out of the hospital, had almost a complete breakdown last night. He was in a car accident and did extensive damage to his car. We caught him shooting up drugs in his room. He was so out of it we could hardly rouse him. When he woke up he was belligerent and angry. He stormed out of the house and went for a walk (This was at 11pm.) He ended up walking in the woods in our neighborhood and fell into the creek. The police brought him home, got him some dry clothes, and took him back to the hospital. At this point he is still feeling sorry for himself and trying to place the blame anywhere he can. He kept saying "I"m weak, I can't help it, I should just be dead." It's heartbreaking and so difficult as a parent to deal with this. I just don't know what is going to happen. Needless to say, I'm not good for much today. I hardly got any sleep, and I can't even concentrate to read. So it's just a waiting game at this point to see what happens. Thanks for letting me vent everyone.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments Oh Terri....I don't even know what to say, except to say I'm sorry and I wish there was something I could do for you. Please don't blame yourself for what he is doing. You are doing the best you can in a delicate situation. Chris has the opportunity, especially with the support of his parents, to either get better or choose not to. I don't think he understands how much he is hurting you, because, and I hope you don't mind my saying this, he is only thinking of himself. I really hope and pray the medication situation gets sorted out so he can start his meds. I will be praying for him and you. You know you can always contact me if you need to talk. ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))

6:29PM Had a big lunch so I had a banana for dinner. Did a small workout. Aeverie got his finger caught in the door and it was pretty bad. He is much better now. I read a few more pages in The Sleeping Doll, it is really a good book. Hopefully will get to read more this evening.

Terri I am so sorry to hear about the continued problems with your son. And you are doing all that you can do for him. I know that it is so very stressful, and I can not even imagine dealing with one of my kids going through these problems. I know it does not really help to hear that you can't help him if he can't help himself. But as I have learned, it is such a true statement. We can only pray that he will come to a point in his life and finally decide that he has had enough of it and clean up his life. Please don't feel like any of it is your fault. I am here if you ever need an ear. (((HUGS)))

7:15AM Made Spaghetti for dinner this evening, however I decided to just have a salad. Then we took a walk to the playground. I hate that it gets dark so much faster now. So Aves did not get to play as long. But the walk is always good, we even ran a little bit too.

Aeverie went to sleep already. So I guess it was enough to make him tired. I just hope he sleeps through. He is about an hour early. LOL

I am planning on reading some here in a few. Switched over to Ashes to Ashes. The 3 books I am reading are all pretty good. So sometimes hard to decide what I wanna read. I have another buddy read coming up about mid week.

Kathryn it really was pretty chilly today! But I like this weather. We had about 57 this evening and Aeverie still enjoyed the walk as did I.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 10:21 PM. I'm already laying in bed. I've been catching up on notifications and FB stuff, all while texting my dad. Dinner was yummy, but overall it was an okay time. We went to Texas Roadhouse and it was just too noisy. Not really the type of atmosphere to catch up in. I wish I hadn't brushed and flossed my teeth yet because coffee surely sounds good right about now. Oh well! Mark is pretty worn out, but I'm still kind of awake. I'm going to read for a bit.
