I got the first 2 books to the Safe Land series. Captives and Outcasts. I got the third book Rebels as a review book, well I did not want to read that one when it was the 3rd in the series so I ordered the first 2 from book outlet which were really cheap. Like $3.99 I think. So I am gonna try to marathon them so I can get this book reviewed.

For a dollar eighty I got The Time Travelers Wife, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl who Played with Fire.
I promised myself I wouldn't buy anymore books any time soon. I have bought so many over the past two years and still have yet to read all of them (please forgive me...I am not a speed reader like you guys...lol). However, the last book I ordered off of Barnes & Noble.com was this...
. It should be arriving in the mail around January 13, 2015 (that's it's release date), so, I can't wait to read that!
LOL Dan I wish I could promise myself that. Trust me I have bought a lot of books and don't even come close to getting them all read. The way I see it is that I will never run out of books. haha
Hello everyone :) Just wanted to stop in real quick because this group is awesome and so far I've connected with two awesome people since my last (and only; newbie here) post. I'm not feeling well (nothing new there, chronic and serious health issues, blah blah, lol), however seeing this thread and all your posts makes me smile. Sorry if I missed a reply above. I'm not sure if it was in reply to my post or not.
Anywho, a lot of people know from my FB days that about 2 1/2 years ago my girls and I lost everything we owned at the same time I became deathly ill from long term exposure to a gas leak etc etc we lost it all and the family bond got lost along the way. Above there's a post about having bought a lot of books in the past two years so that really struck my heart because I lost 16 years worth of collecting books and in the end lost over 400 most had gone unread, so these last two years have been about rebuilding on a once a month check. I think I should have focused on towels, clothes, bedding etc, but my books were all a part of me so someday I'll get the other stuff. That sounds horrible, but being alone 24/7 for five years made books my only happy through all the pain and tears.
Okay, enough with the depressing stuff (sorry about that :-/ )
This week what arrived (irresponsibly I have to add) was a pre-order I'm so happy arrived and that's.......
because Mitch Albom is always a light, cozy read and God knows I need that more desperately than words could express. Also,
by Julie Lawson Timmer because I read the prologue and it hit close to home so in need of a good cry that one-click button was hit right away.......And finally:
by Keith Donohue because I tried to win it, didn't and I'm a total creepy, spine chiller, scare me crazy book lover. So, I hope it does the job. A good creepy read would be awesome. There's the tip of a massive iceberg and a couple non-kindle books I've gotten. Now I need food money :-/ lol *not really funny* But, book happy :)
I hope everyone is doing awesome, having fun and Janie, we definitely have to do a Jodie Picoult buddy read. I've never done one before and I'm, as noted by somebody above, a much slower reader especially with the chronic pain. Sounds like so much fun though!! :)
~*Happy Reading & a Wonderful day/night to all*~
Thank you for reading and letting me ramble. I don't have anyone off the internet so I tend to do that when I feel just well enough to be able to share with others who care. <3

Thanks Dustin I'm sorry I haven't replied to your message yet. Honestly this week is the most I've been on gr :(
It's cool, man. I know you must be super busy with school and stuff. Just whenever you can, it's no rush, really.
I went out to Wal-Mart with my Mom today and she decided to spoil me, which doesn't happen often, LOL! But she got me
. It's funny because I was gonna ask for it for Christmas but now I can cross that off my list.
Recently I purchased the last book to Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly series and a bind up of her Seasons of the Heart series.
More books for me, yay!Peter Pan
Poirot Investigates
The Mousetrap and Other Plays
The Grapes of Wrath
The Three Musketeers
The Mayor of Casterbridge
Ivanhoe
Grandes Cuentistas
Cheryl wrote: "Got the Book Thief today."Hi Cherly, So I see it was your purchase which started the talk of "The Book Thief", which then led me to run over to amazon to buy it. It was the day after my prime membership ended so I had to pay shipping and I tracked the book for five days. It never arrived, which in three years has only ever happened one other time. Called Amazon and as always they were amazing in helping resolve the issue and sent a replacement overnight. I got that today and the cover is 'Beautiful'.
Anyway, the really funny part is that Amazon called USPS for me because there was zero record of the tracking number or where the book was. I told the Amazon rep that "The Book Thief" must have stolen it. I guess it's one of those you had to be there moments, but the irony and humor that of all books that one went missing from 'everywhere'. Then today I see it's showing up on USPS as "out for delivery", but it's still an hour and a half away from where I live. With the book suddenly appearing in the system again I just assume that "The Book Thief" felt bad and dropped the original order back in the mail, lol.
I thought it was funny and hopefully puts a little smile on everyone's face who's in the group here. I have to go read your review!! Can't wait to start reading it.
As always ~*Happy Reading & Warmest of Thoughts to everyone*~ <3
SO M do you send the book back to Amazon or what happens with that? I have never had that happen to me.
Janie wrote: "SO M do you send the book back to Amazon or what happens with that? I have never had that happen to me."It's only happened twice in about five years. The first time a replacement was sent and th original order has never arrived. This time was a crazy mess I took screen caps of to send with my feedback. It was nowhere to be found, the replacement arrived Friday or Saturday (brain fog), and the original arrived today. So I just have to call Amazon to ask them to send me a return ticket and then have somebody drop it off at a UPS location back to Amazon. Glad I got the replacement because th first copy arrived drenched and soggy due to the weather mess. Amazon has walked a long road with me In recovery and rebuilding all we lost.
It's been painful times and three years later I'm really starting to realize I'm most definitely going through a level of PTSD. Waking each day is too painful so that's why I'm awake most of the night. It's more peaceful. Without Goodreads and Amazon I'd be lost. So painfully lost. That's why when you, Dustin and Corey welcomed me like you did it really touched my heart in a way I can't explain in a message. Please know it's bad and you all are my friends/family. Lots of cruely at home. I hide in my room. Thank you 3 <3
P.S. Believe it or not I can be very fun and lighthearted. I just can't find that part of me right now. Someday......maybe.....

YUCK the book was soggy, I am glad you got a replacement copy too. I don't understand how sometimes things get lost. It boggles the mind for sure. Sorry to hear you are in pain most of the time but I am glad you have things to keep your mind occupied. I find the nights quite peaceful myself, a time for me to settle down. But I don't stay up like I used to.

lol, yes, it definitely went through a lot to get here. I still have call Amazon for the return label, but all is good. They've been amazing far and beyond for two years so I cannot complain whatsoever. With the weather the way it's been around the country it's understandable.
RE: The pain.....thank you. It is what it is and we can only do the best we can to get through it. Someday........I'll figure it out.
RE: The nights........so Beautiful and Peaceful. Since I was nine my family has always been a casino one on a swing shift and that part of me never was able to go back to pre nine years old. Especially after I began dealing that same shift. Blackjack and Roulette. Roulette was always the most fun to deal. Miss is a lot sometimes. Sometimes......lol, but with you saying not as late it seems you do get to enjoy some of the night still and much of the day. A bit of the best of both worlds :)
What books lately:
This one is for memory sake and one I'll keep wrapped and write on a card I'll insert on the inside cover for whom it goes to through years......from me to my daughter, to her children and so on:
by Roald Dahl it was my oldest daughters favorite movie for most of her early years and one of mine.....am I, a 42 year old woman going to read a children's book?? This one? ABSOLUTELY!! I'm going to enjoy every page and then create the traditional card for passing it down. The cover and illustrations are 'so' pretty. The other is a kindle book which, when I first saw it and the synopsis, here on goodreads I 'knew' I'm'had' to have this. When my kindle made that "ding" notification at about 1:20 a.m. I screamed excited *in thought, lol' knowing it went live!! I was counting the hours down. This book already means so much for the depth of what I know it's going to have in its deepest meaning and humor. Super excited about this one.
by Peter J. Story Seriously, Its been about a year since I tweeted, shared, and got so excited about a book before. Again, there's so much more to this story than one might think. I can feel it in my bones. lol I'm acting like a grown up kid. Just released today!! :) Anyway, there's my usual mile long reply (probably with a bunch of auto corrects) so I'll step away from the keypad and wish all of you are somewhere being happy and with love surrounding you!!
~*Happy Reading *~
Well, I went to delete my over long and off topic posts that hadn't been replied to, but there weren't any. So I don't make anyone who replied feel that awkward moment of the person they replied to suddenly being gone I just left the posts up. I'm so sorry, but thank you so much to those of you who welcomed me in here and connected with me. I'm going to miss you and the group. Seriously, the threads in this group are some of the best I've seen. So much fun......Take care of all of you and especially during the wonderful holiday season coming up, I hope you all have special people, family/friends to surround you with Joy, fun and Love. Nobody should ever have to go without that.......
M are you leaving the group? If so I am so sorry to hear that. I hope your leaving is not anything with the group. I really enjoyed chatting with you.
Had nothing better to do this afternoon so I took a trip to Goodwill and bought a couple new books,

I went to the USB yesterday and traded in all my mass market paperbacks and some old books. I was very surprised when I got thirty dollars in store credit. I got:
Hardcover of Cujo
Hardcover of Duma Key
Trade paperback of Wizard and Glass
Hardcover of The Bachman Books
Books three and four of Vampire Academy in paperback
I got Pennyroyal Academy at barnes and noble for myself for Christmas yesterday and can't wait to read it in the future.

The Secret History
Lord of the Flies
Final del juego
The Maltese Falcon, The Thin Man, Red Harvest
My Ántonia
Agnes Grey
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
The strange library by Haruki Murakami, it's a short story but definitely a collector's item because of the illustrations. I really like it.
I've bought a few good books the past few days, my Mom went out and bought me
