message 1961: by Jo (new)

Jo I'm making sure I actually buy hard copies of books this year rather than kindle books.

I have just bought The Infernal Devices trilogy - on book three already! absolutely love them.

message 1962: by Victor (new)

Victor Jo- I'm reading Clockwork Angel right now. I am really liking it!! Have you read TMI series yet?

message 1963: by Janie, Group Owner & Book Addict (new)

Janie Johnson | 6303 comments Mod
Jo I want that series so much! I will work on getting it soon. I so love hearing you say you are going to focus on buying physical copies now more than kindle. It helps our book stores out so much!

message 1964: by Jo (new)

Jo Yeah Victor I read TMI end of last year. Couldn't put them down. Excited for the next one!

Janie I can't recommend them enough! She's such a fabulous writer. I noticed I got lazy with buying kindle books, it takes all the fun out of picking books and when you think about it they're not worth the money. I'd much rather see it go into stores.

I just bought Divergent so I can read it before the film!

Jo we have been doing buddy reads on the Divergent series, and have been enjoying them. So right now we are on the last of the series that we are reading in March. They are great books. Veronica Roth is very talented.

message 1966: by Jo (new)

Jo Sorry for being ignorant - what's buddy reads?

message 1967: by Janie, Group Owner & Book Addict (new)

Janie Johnson | 6303 comments Mod
Jo that is what this group is based on. You can either join in on someone's buddy read or start your own. There is a folder called Buddy reads and you can go through those threads and see if you may wanna join one. If you want to start one, you choose your book and post in the Buddy read folder the name of your book. Then you can set it up how you like it. Set your start date, do you want to read a set amount, read at your own pace, and what not. Then you wait and see if anyone wants to join you on your read. Hope that helps. :)

message 1968: by Jo (new)

Sam Arnold (samharnold) Had a really good book haul the last couple of days. All are review copies of books but some look like really good reads so can't wait to get into them.

The first was Caitlin Star - James J Caterino which I am reading straight away because I can't wait to get into it.
Caitlin Star by James J. Caterino

Betrayal - Jacqui Rose which looks like a Martina Cole style of writing
Betrayed by Jacqui Rose

The Accident - CL Taylor which from the blurb reminds me of a Linwood Barclay novel
The Accident by C.L. Taylor

Dead Gone - Luca Veste two new detectives in this one which sound interesting
Dead Gone by Luca Veste

Viper Wine - Hermione Eyre which is a time traveling science fiction style novel and was received through Goodreads
Viper Wine by Hermione Eyre

Going to look at working most of these into my March TBR

Got together with Kathryn today and had a great time. I have a pretty good book haul to share as well. Most from the sales rack for $1 each. I got to increase my Coben library which makes me happy.

Artemis Fowl
Victims
Mystery
Vanish
Apocalypse of the Dead

Harlan Coben Books

Darkest Fear
One False Move
The Final Detail
Promise Me
Miracle Cure
Deal Breaker
Drop Shot

And then I have a great find, and that is The unopened box set of the Chronicles of Narnia for $20 It is a set of 7 books. I am so fortunate to have found the set.

message 1989: by Victor (new)

Victor Great haul Janie. I want to get a Narnia box set sometime soon:)
Looking forward to Kathryn's haul.

message 1990: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 345 comments Heck yea, I've been wanting a Narnia set too! I had em when I was a kid and now I don't :(

This afternoon I went to the indoor flea market type store and picked up: Godslayer (The Sundering, #2) by Jacqueline Carey , The Last Light Of The Sun by Guy Gavriel Kay , Why Mermaids Sing (Sebastian St. Cyr, #3) by C.S. Harris , and three books for the kiddo.
Then this evening I slipped up to another Goodwill and got: City of Shadows A Novel of Suspense by Ariana Franklin , The Night Boat by Robert R. McCammon , The Season by Sarah MacLean , and Murder on Fifth Avenue by Victoria Thompson .
And that kills my $20 I got on my lottery ticket the other day, lol. May be awhile before I get to go book shopping again :\

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments Last week I finally got to go shopping for fun. We took some of our tax refund and went to the Mall last Monday. We all got some goodies, but my wife and I bought Hollow City (Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, #2) by Ransom Riggs for us at Barnes and Noble and we got a Monster Truck book for my son. I didn't spend to much time browsing becuase my daughter was a bit fussy but it was great to get to buy a book for a change.

I was really surprised I actually found the Narnia box set and unwrapped? I mean who does that? LOL I am guessing it was gift for someone and they did not want it? LOL Who Knows!

Kit you gotta love what you can find at the Good Wills! I love stopping there to look. Most of the time ours has some pretty good stuff, but sometimes they have less of a selection.

Chris, a couple of weeks ago I got Hollow city too since I loved Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children. I knew I had to read Hollow City!
