Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments Good to hear you liked The Memory of Running Rachel - I wasn't too sure about it but I really liked the cover!

Ella | 108 comments Shadow of the Wind was very good.

Tee27 | 96 comments I went to Barnes and Noble and picked up Life without Limits, The Other Wes Moore, a box set of Game of Thrones (it was 60% off, so I couldn't resist!), and The First Phone Call from Heaven, which I would have bought even if it weren't 40% off, because I love his books!

Thanks Michelle! Please let me know if you wanna read the Percy Jackson series. I will not get to it until next year.

Tee nice books! You gotta love the 60% off stuff!

message 1557: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments Janie, I'm pretty sure I have it on my Kindle so just let me know whenever you want to read it - I'm not in any rush :)

Ok awesome. Yea I am trying a different approach this month and see how it works out. I am creating myself "to read" lists each month. Gonna see if I can follow it. Once I read what is on my list if there is still time I can read whatever after that. I chose 8 books for this month, so we will see if I can read them in Decembers time frame.

message 1559: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments That's a good idea Janie. December is such a busy month, I will be happy if I can finish Cujo and Eleanor & Park - if I can squeeze that one in I will have finished all my challenges :)

message 1560: by Janie, Group Owner & Book Addict (new)

Janie Johnson | 6303 comments Mod
YAY Good luck Michelle! Yes December is definitely busy, but I am gonna try. Also stepping back from multiple books at once. I have discovered that I seem to read more when I only read 1 at a time.

message 1561: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments I'm doing the same thing Janie, and I think I enjoy books more when I'm only focusing on the one at a time. Having said that, next year there are a few BIG books that I want to read so I'm thinking I might aim to read a certain amount of pages per day or week while I'm reading other things.

message 1562: by [deleted user] (new)

I just bought THE YARD, A VISIT FORM THE GOON SQUAD as well as some drawing books

Same Michelle. One big book I am wanting to read is Les Mis. I would also like to read Wuthering Heights and Dracula as well.

message 1564: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments I really want to read that too Janie, I think I might just give myself the whole year to get through it and not put too much pressure on myself. I loved Wuthering Heights and Dracula - both are fantastic classics, I'd love to hear what you think of them :)

I will be sure to let you know! Been wanting to read them, so I will do my best to get to them. I am definitely giving myself the whole year for les Mis.

message 1566: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments I'll look forward to discussing them all with you :) I'm excited but a little scared about Les Mis!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments Today, I bought Stardust by Neil Gaiman for my Kindle for $1.99.

message 1579: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments I loved Stardust Kathryn!

message 1580: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments Ooooh, that makes extra happy I bought it, Michelle! :)

message 1581: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments I read it while we were on our honeymoon as the place we were staying at had it in our room. It was my first Gaiman, I hadn't heard of him before that. I think you will love it, it's such a sweet little tale. The movie isn't too bad either, but if you haven't seen it already, definitely read the book first IMO :)

So excited today! I received 7 books in the mail today! I have been dying to get all of my books. I think I only have 1 left to come. So today I got Incarnation, Triangles, The Magicians and Mrs. Quent, and that completes that series. I also got a trilogy by Richard Kadrey, Sandman Slim, Kill the Dead, Aloha from Hell, I am pretty excited to read that one. And then the last one is Collateral. YAY! Y'all should check out Book Outlet if you have not already. I got 5 books from them for $29 and that includes the shipping. They have great deals.

Squire (srboone) | 141 comments Signed/Limited edition of The Influence by Bentley Little.
A diffferent cover than the Trade HC shown on GR.

descriptiondescription

I'm more interested in a nice shelf copy of a book rather than a lot of ebooks I'll never read. Never know when the printed book will become passe. (Though the big publishing companies are still pretty heavily invested in the printed book, so probably not in my lifetime. Hopefully.)

another great cover squire! I hope printed books will always be available-what a shame it would be to lose them.

Veronica (veraj121) | 328 comments I just purchased:

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - must read
Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup - another must read
Fading (Fading, #1) by E.K. Blair - very curious not a book I would normally pick up

message 1588: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments I realize this isn't a book, but we were out Christmas shopping today, and ended up at Barnes and Noble because it was the only place where they had the book my dad is really, really wanting for Christmas. Anyways, so we're just kind of walking around, and Mark says, "Hey, I didn't realize the membership is only $25. I'm going to fill this out for you." So...I got a B&N membership today. I didn't realize the FREE SHIPPING!!! AH!!!!

message 1589: by Squire (last edited Dec 14, 2013 10:03PM) (new)

Squire (srboone) | 141 comments A great deal. I need to renew by Dec 26. I find the in-store coupons and sales for members more useful.

I orginally was a Borders Rewards member--but when Borders went under, they sold their Rewards member list to B&N. I was contacted and was given a B&N membership until my Borders membership expired. I've renewed it every year since but I don't know if I'll renew it this year.

Thanks Squire, thank you very much! Books always make Christmas brighter for me! Hehe!

It really is awesome Kathryn to have. I think we will renew ours again when it is up. You can get such good deals. And plus we are supporting a local book store which I feel is really important these days.
