Look forward to discussing Joyland with you Rachel! You should try out Gaiman, his style is very different. I loved Stardust and The Graveyard Book :)
I haven't read Coraline - did you like it?I bought Neverwhere awhile ago because I thought it sounded really good but I've never gotten around to reading it!

sounds good Michelle :D
I have heard a lot of good things about gaiman so I hope to try him out this year I think I will probably end up buying the new one but many people love the graveyard book so maybe i'll pick that up first.
Ok so I am extremely excited and y'all know why. Yes I got more books, and better yet, 6 of them for $1
Roadside Crosses
2nd Chance
Dead as a Doornail
From Dead to Worse
Fall of Giants

great haul Janie! (and you can't get better than a dollar!) I read 2nd chance a long time ago and remember liking it- enjoy your books :)
Thanks Rachel. I can't pass up the sales rack there with the dollar books. I always find great books on that rack. I love James Patterson, well his earlier stuff anyway.
I always love to see what you pick up at the UBS. Also excited to see you for another Deaver book. I just bought The Empty Chair by Jeffery Deaver for my Kindle. I already have the hardback but the kindle edition is on sale for .99 today only. So lucky I got in before the end of day.
Chris I find that I like the Kathryn Dance books better than Lincoln Rhyme. I feel Rhyme novels are more political. What do you think about the 2 separate characters?
Only a few of Lincoln's stories have a political feel to them. I really like his books because of all the forensics stuff. That's what my undergrad was in. I also like the relationship between Rhyme and Sachs. The Dance books are great too. I really like her as a character. What can I say, I'm a die hard fan of Deaver's writing so I like them both. You might like the Rhyme novels better the more of them you read. Vanished Man was very good, and so was the Devils Teardrop.
Oh I will definitely read more of Deaver's books whether it is Rhyme or Dance. He is a great writer. I really have enjoyed each of the ones I have read. I believe I have read 3 so far and look forward to many more. When do you wanna read Hannibal Rising?
I'm ready when ever you are. I have had the audio book for awhile and I'm ready to start when you are. I know Black House is a big book so let me know when you are ready.

Ok Chris sounds good, we can start it after I finish Black House. I am hoping to get both Black House and Hannibal Rising completed this month. I have a lot of reads coming up in July too. LOL

No problem, I haven't started another audio book yet so I am ready. Just let me know and we will finish out our Hannibal buddy read. I had a lot of fun, we will need to come up with another set of books for a buddy read soon.
Ok sounds great! What do you think about the Odd Thomas series, or the Frankenstein series for a buddy read?
For Odd Thomas I have just read the first one recently, if you would like to try that series out you could read Odd Thomas while I read Black house. LOL. I am also dying to get to Koontz's Frankenstein series as well. Let me know what you think of those.

I have read 1-4 of the Odd Thomas series and it is pretty good. Weird, but not bad. The earlier ones are better. I have read the whole Frankenstein and aside from the first two books I didn't like them at all. I just had to finish the series but it was painful. I loved the take on an old classic in the first book, and book two expanded on it. But after that I felt the whole thing just got ridiculous. I hope you enjoy them, maybe you will see it a bit differently.
Years ago I read the first 2 of the Frankenstein series and I did like them from what I can remember. But it has been a long time. Ok so those are all out lol.
Have you read anything by Ted Dekker? I actually just bought his Paradise series and I am looking forward to that one. Do you have any series that you might like to read? I am up to try anything.

Let me think on the series. I'm not a Ted Dekker fan myself, but if you are doing the Odd series I might join you for books 5 and 6 if I can get a hold of them. Let me think and see if I can come up with a series we both might like.
Since joining goodreads, I've been using the library a lot. So I,ve got a major backlog of my own books.

Janie- I'm so glad I saw your post! Cindy's group, Casual Readers, should be doing a buddy read of Showdown in July. If it doesn't get enough votes, then Cindy said she's read it with me. Please feel free to join us!:)

Holy smokes, Kathryn!!!
I got Never Tell a Lie by Hallie Ephron, The Forgotten by Faye Kellerman, and Night In the Lonesome October by Richard Laymon, all for a dollar. Gosh, how I love Dollar Tree!
Ordered the Deluxe Signed/Slipcased "Encounters with Enoch Coffin" by W.H. Pugmire and Jeffery Thomas From Dark Regions press.
I have gotten A LOT of books. My sister surprised me by coming here for a weeks vacation with her 2 daughters, and she brought some books along with her for me. She brought me Freedomland, The Reincarnationist, Blue Valor, Specials, Harvest, The Killing Game, Stranger with My Face, Strangers, The Door to December & The Good Guy. Then yesterday I went to the UBS and got, Cruel and Unusual, The Last Angel, Invincible & Identical. So I am a very happy camper.
great haul Janie! the killing game is a great book- if you can find The Face Of Deception- I would recommend reading that one first- I used to love that series. enjoy :)
Janie wrote: "I have gotten A LOT of books. My sister surprised me by coming here for a weeks vacation with her 2 daughters, and she brought some books along with her for me. She brought me Freedomland, The Rein..."Awesome. I've read all the Koontz. STRANGERS is badass.
Victor not yet, but I will look for them. I will be sure not to read Specials before I get to the other ones. My sister thought I would love the book because of the cover, so she bought it.
Rachel yea, she has several series and the Eve Duncan is a long one. You are right, they really do need to be read in order even if there is a new case in each one because she is kind of tracking her daughter's killer at the same time from what I understand. She also has a lot of stand alone books. How many have you gotten to read, and did you enjoy the ones you have gotten to?

I know I read at least the first 4 books although it was probably a little more than that- although I read them years ago I remember loving the first 3 books of the series- I know at some point (I think after book 4 -they started to sound the same and I lost interest)
years later I read that iris johansen was going to do a trilogy within the series that finally answered what happened to eve's daughter- which fans of the series wanted to know since book 1 so I read the book right before the trilogy Chasing The Night (which was a great read) and I read the trilogy (Eve, Quinn & Bonnie.
my recommendation would be to read the first three books in order The Face Of Deception, The Killing Game, and The Search - i think the rest of the books are not important until chasing the night which must be read before the trilogy(eve, Quinn & bonnie) and the trilogy must also be read in order.
although Eve & Quinn were disappointing -Bonnie was a great book- unfortunately the trilogy doesn't make sense unless all 3 books are read.
Janie wrote: "Thanks Victor I appreciate it. Did you read all of them?"I've read the Uglies trilogy. I really liked them!
BN has 50% off this weekend on many Nook ebooks which is tempting. But I only purchased The House Girl by Tara Conklin as it seems to have many good reviews and is a good mix for me in reading different authors and different genres. And figures NOS4R2 is half off and I paid the full price (was on a gift card given to me..but still!... d'oh!)

Ok awesome Rachel. That is helpful to know. I will be sure to read them in the proper order.

Ok so yesterday I got to go to the UBS. (My sister and her girls are all book fiends as well.) I got some new books. I got Watchers, Sharp Objects, When Heaven Weeps, Afraid To Die, Born To Die & At First Sight. Then I bought the whole Odd Thomas series for my niece. She really wants to read them and since we live 900 miles away from each other it makes it hard to borrow books back and forth. LOL So I bought them for her. Since my family has been here it has been a book fest around here. hehe I love it!

Dustin it sounds amazing, so I am looking forward to it. I want to get to it this year so we will see. I will keep you posted.
