That's funny about the Kent family series, because I did the same thing - except that I got to the last one, and never read it! I also read the first one in his North and South series, and really liked it, but never read the sequels! I have no idea why, because I really liked both series, and I almost always finish a series that I am reading. I keep thinking that some day I will go back and finish them up, but so far it hasn't happened - probably because there are so many great newer books that are on my TBR stacks!

Whatever you read - Happy Reading! (I think it should count if you read ANY of the Kent family series, so consider them all recommended by me....heehee!)

The North and South series were the first books I read when I started reading again! I got the first at the library and loved it so much I had to hunt down the other two - I read all three 800+ page books within 2 weeks! And this is without reading for about 10 years!

Jojo | 1010 comments Hi Joyce,

Sorry about the late entry but I'm away at the moment and I've managed to borrow a PC. If the picks aren't any good let me know and I'll be home on the 2nd and I can give you some different choices.

Turkey Dinner
Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness - I see you've read the first book and want to read the second. It's really good and builds the story really well.
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffennegger - You love it or hate it as far as I can tell.

Mashed Potatoes
A Touch of Greek by Tina Folsom
Truly Madly Yours by Rachel Gibson - I don't think fluffy and light is really your cup of tea but I hope you enjoy one of them.

Gravy
Covet by J R Ward - yummy cover, yummy story
Sweet Dreams by Kristin Ashley - the yummiest story I've read for a long time (It's part of a series but is also completely stand alone).

Pumpkin Pie
Cake Icing, Butt Budder & Tea Lids by Renee Andrews - difficult topic but this book was a rare sweet book that I enjoyed.

Once again sorry about the rush but if nothing suits let me know and I'll repick on the 2nd.

Gea (gea89) | 545 comments Grace, I just finished The Texan's Wager (Wife Lottery, #1) by Jodi Thomas and it was decent enough but not really for my tastes.

I will probably read Game for Anything (Bad Boys of Football, #1) by Bella Andre next since it's one of the books that's been longest on my TBR shelf and it's time it leaves it :)

message 334: by Kami (new)

Kami (aidansmama) | 988 comments I finished my first pick Anna and the French Kiss. It was a cute light YA romance. I really liked that it was set in Paris, France. That has always been my dream vacation spot. So it was a cute little story and I am giving it three stars.

Oh dear; let me know if you need a re-pick. I want to read A Girl Like You, too--I'm glad to hear that it was as good as it looked.

message 336: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments I finished Sugar Daddy (Travises, #1) by Lisa Kleypas . Not at all what I expected! I'm a huge fan of LK's historicals, and I've read the three Friday Harbor books. I expected this to be a formulaic contemporary romance, but instead it's the story of a strong and determined young woman who sacrifices everything to care for her baby sister. Yes, there is romance, but it's not the main focus of the story, which for me was refreshing. I'll definitely read the next in this series! Thanks for the nudge to read it, Vi!

message 337: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2795 comments Oh that's so good to hear, Sandy. I like the book for the exact reason too! In the next two books though, the focus is back on the romance but it's still character-driven. I'm so glad you liked the book :)

Love the recs. At first glance, I think I'm going to go for Sylvia Day's Bared to You or Kortny Alexander's Give Me More.

Thanks for the great choices.

message 340: by Kristina Simon (new)

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) I needed something sweet, so I decided to read one of my Pumpkin Pie picks from Kami. Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor #1) by Jill Shalvis certainly fit the bill as a cute, irresistibly sweet story. Just what I was craving! I immediately bought the sequel. Thanks for the great pick, Kami!

I finished Lady Luck at the weekend but forgot to post on here. Kristen Ashley is a new author to me and this is the 3rd book I've read. Just like the previous books it was fantastic, I really love the heroes in her books but the heroines are really likeable too.

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments I've finished my first two picks - A Wedding Story, which was super short but light and cute, and Hearts in Darkness, which was also rather short, but AMAZING! Thanks for the great picks, Nikki, I'm definitely planning on reading a few more before the month is over.

message 345: by Nancy H (new)

Nancy H | 1113 comments Lexa,
I finished two of your picks while I was traveling in the last two days - Rocky Road to Romance by Janet Evanovich, which was cute and fun, and Virgin River by Robyn Carr. I absolutely LOVED that one, and am going to find the next ones in that series right away. It was definitely a feel-good book, but what I loved was that the characters were human, and some of them, oh, so quirky! My kind of book!
I am also planning to read more of your picks, too, even with some of the other challenges I am doing. Definitely the Molly Harper one, and I haven't decided what else. Thanks for the great picks!

message 346: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments I've finished my first pick for this month, A Walk to Remember.
Nicholas Sparks is an author who balances the fine line of really presenting a great lovestory or going absolutely over the top dramatic with it.
Sometimes it works out really well but in this book it didn't.
