Three books sort of at once, which is a terrible idea and I do not suggest it, but I have reasons. Sort of.
1. The Dragon Reborn (WoT #3). At the time that this came out, I was reading horror almost exclusively, and although the WoT series has been in my TBR for a long time, I just haven't been able to get over my case of 'dontwanna' where it's concerned. I'm finally reading it and I'm finding it to be... good. I don't want to call it 'fine' because I don't want the WoT army to come for me... it's just not really reving my engine. As a result, I started reading a different Fantasy book that came with a heavy recommendation: The Name of the Wind by Rothfuss... which I did finish. It was... fine. I honestly don't get the hype. Kvothe is a SIMP and a Mary Sue, the story gets bogged down in side-plots about 'how is Kvothe going to pay his bills this week', which is insanely boring, and then when Rothfuss figures that out he sends Kvothe to the Tavern so he can do the ole 'I heard a chance conversation that made the plot happen' Deus Ex Machina. Anyway, it was 'fine'. I started reading the next book to see if it was a lot better. Surely that must be the reason for the hype...
2. The Wise Man's Fear by Rothfuss. I had to put it down for a bit. I'm bored to tears by it already. Sorry Rothfuss army. I'll come back to it, but I need a palate cleanser.
3. The Wineland Sagas by Milton Franson. This one is because he's another small time author like me and my Mother in law bought it for me. The history and historic speculation he lays out in the prologue of the books are interesting to me, even if his writing style doesn't exactly grab me. I might just read all the prologues and then shelve it. Anyway, I'm reading it out of courtesy for my MIL, who is a delight.

I honestly might shelve all 3 in the DNF pile. I'm on the fence about it. Maybe I'll start reading Conan again.

This story is a bit of full circle.

That would be quite difficult, reading 3 books you are not enjoying. Took me 40 years to finally stop reading books I did not enjoy. Now, I read dozens at a time, reading what interests me at any given moment, though most are anthologies and when I do find a book I love I invest fully in it. Good luck to your reading life!
