I just find that I can't really adore tea the way I adore coffee. My breakfast coffee is like a meal...life sustaining...

Same here.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I tried to get into that mate drink (it has one of those little symbols over it that makes its pronunciation sound like mah-tay), but it tastes like really bad tea.

Has anyone had some? We have one of those local drink bars that specializes in it.

message 4905: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Nope. Nevah.

Youndyc | 1255 comments I find mate (they always called it yerba mate around here) tastes best when I can't taste it - for example, in a smoothie.

Félix (habitseven) Drinking champaign.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Are you in Champaign Illinois, Larry? Or are you in a champagne bubble bath? That is it! You're on the cruise with Kevin!

message 4910: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That's it yup.

message 4915: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I think I've recovered. Woke up with what I thought was a hangover. Turned out to be projectile v., chills, couldn't keep anything down for five hours, flu stuff.
And yes, I have had my flu shot. No more wine for me right now thanks very much.

message 4916: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Sorry to hear that Cynthia, hope you can get back to the wine soon.

message 4917: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Yup. Thanks, Jim. Were you supposed to fly somewhere today?? I see Air Tran canceled all flights in & out of Atlanta.

message 4918: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments That may be for the best anyways :-)

Larry not Jim. Do you travel often Jim?

It snowed maybe 5-6 inches here. Cold and bright sun out now. Marla Singer and Leah and I snuggled up inside.

message 4920: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments I only fly a couple of times a year, nothing like what Larry does.

message 4921: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I ended up just bairly making my connection in Denver today (had to run from B to A conourse)-- even though the second flight was about 40 minutes late leaving Denver due to de-icing. I made it to Portland, though. Almost on time, too.

It's a bit cold here, too -- though not like home.

Sarah | 13814 comments Right now I'm trying soooooooo hard not to eat one of the donuts I saw upstairs. I've passed by them twice without caving, but now I'm hungry. Attempting to stave it off with tamari almonds.

Resist Sarah, donuts go straight to your hips.

If we get to town, I'll try to get us to your place. Where is it?

message 4932: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Right now I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna use my extra small daily moleskine planner. It's just so cute!

message 4933: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3598 comments I'm wondering which microwave you've decided on, Lg. I'm considering buying a new one and giving my old one to my son. What would you recommend?

message 4934: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24821 comments Mod
I don't know enough to recommend, I'm relying on other people's reviews. I'm leaning towards the Sanyo EM-S6588S because it's $100, free shipping, and averages 4 out of 5 stars with 27 reviews on Amazon.

I can't really complain. My GE Spacemaker was a hand-me-down, it lasted me maybe 15 years, and it was manufactured in 1989.

message 4935: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3598 comments The Spacemaker was a good old gal, then. Thanks for the info. I usually go with the Amazon reviews, too. They seem to come from real buyers, but you never know for sure. Wish there was an independent site to consult, but I haven't found one that's free.

message 4936: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11852 comments You can know for sure on Amazon. If it's from a real purchaser, it has text just below their name that says so. Something like, "Amazon verified purchase."

message 4937: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Lobstergirl wrote: "Trying to decide what microwave to buy. Mine just died."

I have an Amana combination microwave / convection oven, LG. It is great for holidays, when my big oven is full I can even use the convection to roast a chicken. It browns and everything.

Mine is about 12 years old, but I believe Amana still makes them--they are larger than most microwaves, but very handy.

message 4938: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Consumer Reports, I think, is your bet for advice on anything like this.

message 4939: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11852 comments CR can be helpful, but there's a subscription cost. My wife has an online account which we do access prior to big purchases. Amazon ain't bad, though, as a free solution.

I love reading reviews of products on Amazon.

message 4941: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11852 comments Sally wrote: "I love reading reviews of products on Amazon."

When you're reading them, be sure to click on the link for each reviewer that says, "see all my reviews." If they have only one, or if they review only a particular vendor, you might want to lower their credibility score during your evaluation.

message 4942: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments LG should totally get an LG microwave.

Sarah | 13814 comments Jammies wrote: "Right now I am suffering a sinus headache, wishing I lived in Canada and wondering what tamari almonds are."

Jammies, do you have a Trader Joe's near you? If not, I'll send you some tamari almonds. They are roasted almonds that were roasted (or marinated pre-roast?) in tamari. They're really really good, and not salty.

message 4945: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I usually work at keeping oil out of my hair.

message 4946: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I have to oil my hair or it gets dry.

message 4947: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Same as Britt. I don't wash it much so that the curl can have time to form. Most shampoos make my hair super frizzy. What I do is rinse it if I shower, and as it dries I put oil on my palms and work through the tangles curls.

message 4948: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Right now I'm thinking of having dinner here tonight.

Anyone care to join me?

I was wondering if you were going to go back to the Montage tonight and have an oyster shooter for me!

message 4950: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments I'll join you Larry, but you should probably start without me as I may not make it there tonight for a couple of days.
