I'm going to water my garden. I have green tomatoes. It won't be long now until I can pick one and eat it. YUM!
Making dinner, veggie burgers and salad. Thank goodness for the microwave today - it's in the 90s, and I don't have a/c.
I'm doctoring a little kitten we found. Something tried to rip it's tail off...there are little bones sticking out the end. Looks like a trip to the Vet is in order first thing tomorrow. She's super cute even with the messed up tail, she has long black hair and big green eyes. We're naming her Astrophe.
It's catastrophe, but she's already a cat so I left that part out. I can't take credit for it though...it was the name of a cat in one of the books I read and I thought it was cute.
Alecia! Good for you! And, super cute cat name. Finding cat names in literature is time honored, and you found a perfect one. :)
a bird just flew in my room. it sat in my tea mug for a while, then hid behind the bed, tried out some pillows, and flew back out again. i wish i'd taken a picture of it in my tea mug, it looked super scared but cute.
Janine, it was waiting for you to speak bird, I'm sure it just needed directions.
Yay Alecia.
Yay Alecia.
right now i am reading about the debacle in a small town near here.http://kokomotribune.com/local/x19070...

OMG Barb, my husband and I are always saying we're going to name one of our dogs that...for some reason that never fits their personalities LOL.

Bomb scare disrupts peace in Rossville
Hearing aids mistaken for explosives
By SCOTT SMITH
Tribune staff writer
ROSSVILLE — Wearing a suit reminiscent of the Oscar-winning movie “The Hurt Locker,” a member of the Indiana State Police bomb squad detonated a box full of hearing aids in Rossville Thursday.
Oh, that's awesome, Kevin! Hahahahahahaha!!!! :D
Right now I'm watching Fury playing June Bug Beat Down... He waits patiently for a june bug to fly above his head, then he jumps up and snatches it out of the air with his mouth. He then flings it on the ground and pounces on it repeatedly until there is a loud and obviously satisfying (to him) cruching noise. Once he's sure he has defeated his opponent, the process begins again. It's now 3:40am, which might explain why I am so highly entertained by this little game of his....just thought I'd share :D
I know a dog named D-0-G! Right now I'm on the front porch catching up on GR after two days of intense flu, about 100 popsicles (I'm not kidding), and season one, start to finish, of True Blood.
If I were a woman/homosexual I'd do Eric. I see what you ladies see in him. He's hot.

Eric is so hot. Your posts are putting me in the mood to SurfTheChannel the pants off of Season 3 of True Blood. OMG. I still need to finish Season 2, actually. I was about 3 episodes from the end when school started last fall.
Right now I'm just home from the nursery where there was a 35% sale on annuals. Sweeter is going to build a little bit of a flower bed around the dead spot under our tree and I'm going to fill it with these beautiful lavender impatients. I had wanted to plant hosta like I saw my neighbor had done, but the lady at the nursery told me it would kill an established tree to plant perennials around it, that I should just go for compost and annuals.
Leah is calmly playing so I SHOULD be making the meat sauce for the spaghetti I've been thinking about for a while but instead I'm checking in on the sea monkeys. Oh, and drinking the last Vanilla Porter. It was a good 6 pack.

Alecia wrote: " It's now 3:40am, which might explain why I am so highly entertained by this little game of his."Don't be embarrassed, Alecia, I am endlessly and stupidly amused by my cats playing with things like paper bags and rubber bands. You know what's hilarious? When they inadvertantly stick their heads through the bag handles and then go racing through the house with the bags flying out behind them like Superhero capes. It's scary for them, though, so I always catch them and remove the bags even as I am laughing hysterically.
I spent most of last week, while dogsitting for a friend, catching up on Seasons 2 and 3 of True Blood. Eric Northman/Alexander Skarsgard - MINE!!!
NO touch! Hands off!!! MINE!!!
I. WILL. Bite.
>:F
in order to be in a conference call and still jack around on the internet you have to have a non-clicky keyboard :)
Just home from all day long school meeting. Now I have to pack Leah back up into carseat and go pick up CSA.
The player piano (auto playing, preprogrammed) in the hospital lobby was playing a lively rendition of Britney Spear's Oops I Did It Again as I was walking through the area just now. Wow.
Aww... c'mon guys! THAT was a seriously funny surprise. Someone in hospital administration clearly has an awesome sense of humor.

Is this in a town in Connecticut? How many hospital lobbies have player pianos, I wonder.

Heidi, I would find that freaking hilarious if I'd heard that. I'd prolly go sit on the piano and sing along, or at least do a little tapdance to it!Right now, I am really wanting an iPad, not because it is the perfect be-all of it's kind, but because it's really the only one of its kind and I wish I had something more personal than my laptop. I need a little techno-buddy that will do all my things for me while I sit outside on my deck, instead of sitting here in this uncomfortable chair in a dark room that smells of sweaty socks. Boo.
I work at a med school/university hospital in central Arkansas, LG.The former chancellor of the med school donated the player piano to the newly renovated hospital in his wife's honor. At the time it was playing the Britney Spears song, it pounded out the "I'M NOT THAT INNOCENT" part pretty hilariously.
Honestly, on most days when I'm walking through the hospital lobby area, I think it seems more like a luxury hotel lobby or a really nice airport lobby... most definitely does NOT seem like a hospital lobby area.
There are lots of big green tropical plants all over the place... and gobs of sunlight filtering in through the floor to ceiling windows. And most of the time when I walk through there, it's playing jazz standards or traditional church hymns. Every once in a while it'll play contemporary pop, as it was that morning.
I've also heard it playing Elton John's Crocodile Rock; Coldplay (don't know the song because I despise Coldplay)... not sure what song it was, just recognized it as Coldplay; Stevie Wonder's I Just Called to Say I Love You...
I'll take some pictures of it next week and post them here so you can see what I'm talking about.
I found some pics online already, so I'll share them here:THE LOBBY CAFE -

Right now I'm relaxing after a morning bike ride. We put in 26 miles, but there was a stop at Starbucks along the way. I tried to get the gang to go for 60 miles today, but most of them had a big ride yesterday and wanted to use today for recovery. Darn. We're doing the 60 next Sunday.
Right now I'm worried because I'm thinking about that episode of House where everyone on the airplane got Hysteria 'cause they overheard the symptoms of one passenger, and then they got the symptoms, and they thought they had the disease. UGHHHHHHHHHHH.
The other morning - very early - I was supposed to put something together for the bar accountant. When I went to plug in the laptop and print, I couldn't get the USB cord to fit the laptop. Stupid proprietary cables, I said to myself. One for the camera, one for the iPod...where's the one for the printer???It was only a few minutes ago that it dawned on me: for all of those cords, it's the end that fits the accessory that is different, not the end that fits the computer. In my early morning haze I unplugged the end that fits into the printer - which of course only fits the printer - and tried to attach that to the laptop. The other end would of course work fine.
Not good at morning.
right now i'm reorganizing my music library on my laptop. it's time to throw out all of the
I just got home from moving my girl into her dorm and visiting some family in the KC area. I don't know which of us had a harder time saying good bye...
It is tough Petra, once she gets a new routine, and meets some new people with similar interests it will be easier for her. Saying good bye the first year or third year never seems to get easier.
it is her first year. I am glad we have all this technology to stay connected. I am also hoping that she is busy and happy. It is such an exciting time and a wonderful campus with a good balance of education and fun. I am looking forward to having an inside connection for KU men's bball games!
