Right now I'm finally working on some assignments for next semester. I've procrastinated for two weeks and enjoyed my summer. Now it's time to work.
Right now I'm brewing a pale ale using the Mr. Beer homebrew kit I bought on Woot months ago. Nothing like a rainy day for long-neglected projects.
It wasn't too bad. The instructions were well written. The kit comes with everything you need, including a booster that greatly decreases the amount of effort that goes into it. I think I spent about an hour on it.Now comes the waiting. With the Mr. Beer kit, you have to let the beer age in the keg for a week or two, then in the bottles for at least another week. I'm planning on allowing two weeks for each step unless I get really thirsty before then.
Don't they make like microwave beer makers for impatient people? Someone should invent Insta-Brau."Go ahead and order the pizza, the beer will be waiting on it"
I'm devouring a lemonade popsicle after scrubbing the front of the house clean with soapy bleachy water and one of those telescoping scrub brushes. My arms are tired. And I smell like bleach.
Ew, Jackie. The bleachy smell, I mean.Right now I'm listening to Jackie's shebang (Hendrix right now). Song-by-song review to follow some time this evening or early tomorrow.
Yay, Larry! Bunny, I am a master of procrastinating when it comes to weeding. Usually, Chris does it.
My cats find the bleachy smell extremely interesting. It's weird...
RA, I have the beer making equipment if you ever want to give it a try.
Right now, I am just hanging out on a Sunday at my place. I got a new neighbor, and he is outside grilling something that smells Really Good.Wah!
I wish I had a grill!
I'm about to go move laundry down in the basement, but I'm procrastinating because my knees are tired.
Right now I just chased a mouse up and down the hallway near our new offices while people around me screamed and jumped out of the way. It was f--king awesome.Hope the knees are better, Jacks!
I'm about to go over to my weed table to see what showed up over the weekend. I think I'll make my oatmeal first, and bring it with me.Oh, and my knees are fine, thanks, RA! They just needed some rest.
Home from Columbia University. There was a conference/party there yesterday. I love me some neo-Hellenistic architecture.
Right now, I am dilemma-ing:Latin 100 for $1000 at the UC?
OR
Elementary French for $100 at the local community college?
And why don't they offer Latin at the city college? :(
Berke-ly.Do it, N. Latin is
wonderful. I grew up
speaking French, so
it's not terribly exciting. It's your call, though. Did you want
to be home for the summer?
I should always remember to check GR before I leave for work because my stupid office computer won't let me see some threads. Poop.Right now I'm in my office getting ready for another long day of meetings. I'm listening to my ambient playlist (Aphex Twin, Death in Vegas, Stars of the Lid, etc.) and catching up with the online world.
It's weird but there's a Macy's bra ad on this page right now. The Infinite Options Bra from Fashion Forms. Weird.
I keep getting a weird video of some woman spraying Veet (?) on her legs, then shaving her legs in what appears to be the middle of a Mardi Gras celebration.
I always get the ad with the two girls in a field of tulips, wearing nowt but clogs, pelting each other with cheese, followed by the slogan "Gouda, Gouder, Goudst."Or am I imagining things?
Latin, Nools! Trust me when I say it'll pay for itself - it may be a dead language, but it sure is useful.
Kevin "El Liso Grande" wrote: "yeah i get the Veet thing too. wonder if it will work on my head?"Don't do it. It smells bad.
gotcha. i don't need another awkward smell OR the potential to lose my eyebrows (although maybe Sally could loan me her pencil thing then)
Now you guys are making me want to take Latin.I am sitting around at home, and it is thundering outside!! It hardly ever thunders here, it's so exciting!
I applaud you both for expanding your languages. If you have the opportunity Julie take Latin.
I love, by the way, that when you translate something on an online program, when you ask the program to translate your phrase back the phrase often comes back slightly different.
For Jackie, my favorite Trekkie: "To boldly go where no man has gone before"
Ad eundum quo nemo ante iit
On subject with Latin and college, "nourising mother" alma mater
I'm a fan of "Save the whales!" Balaenae nobis conservandae sunt!
And a treat for you...
Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

Translation, please! I hope that doesn't mean I'm a "cold librarian".
