Lori Speaking of Twitter, I wonder if this is really Christopher Walken? It's excellent, whoever it is. http://twitter.com/cwalken

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I just heard Utah changed its liquor laws:

The goal is to boost tourism and make the state appear a little less odd

Heh.

Dan Schwent (akagunslinger) Larry wrote: "Last week on Big Love they showed what is believed to be one of the secret ceremonies of the LDS Temple. It was shocking, in a way."

Big Love really takes the fun out of the polygamist fantasies I had in my younger years.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Heh...and good morning...well said, Dan...

Right now I'm smelly again. I'm working at home this morning, then going to observe a teacher this afternoon.

message 555: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments I'm counting down to my lunchbreak! I'm going to meet a friend at Caffe Bossa Nova, a local Brazilian restaurant.

OMG, let me just say that their Arroz com Feijões and Pão de Queijo is THE best I've ever had (having lived in Houston, I can say that I've had a great bit of sampling of ethnic cuisine, esp. the Brazilian fare - a small Lebanese cafe on Westheimer is my fave).

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments p.s. an update - Robby (I'm sure the meds helped) and Mom slept GREAT last night... we went to bed at 8ish and slept in until 6:15. :) He seems like his old self again, already. (I posted those in the wrong thread, RA... clearly)

message 557: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Nah, you're good:)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments Yay for Robby! :D
Also for sleep!

I also slept great last night! Relatively, at least. Because I may suck at math, but I know 6 hr >>> 0.

That's what I really like about this group. None of that anal-retentive "on topic" "off topic" crap.

message 560: by [deleted user] (new)

But if your off topic long enough your back on topic.

message 561: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) But if your "off topic" gets long enough, it flips over on its back.

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Can I just say that it warms my heart to know that TC group members cheer for doggies? :D You guys and gals are great, super... the best!

message 563: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Doggies need all the cheering they can get, don't they?

message 564: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i like it that you guys know as much about cheese as you do politics, quantum physics and batman

message 565: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments But combining all four gets tricky.

message 566: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Tricky is as tricky does.

message 567: by [deleted user] (new)

Well Batman was eating cheese while having a meeting with the mayor of Gotham City when he had to go to the bathroom and quantum physics took over.

message 568: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments nice jim.

maybe bruce wayne was discussing maxwell's laws of classical electromagnetism as it relates to wayne industries with a lobbyist over some brie and wine

message 569: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, I was trying not to give away any secrets.

message 570: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Right now I'm picturing Jackie singing "Buenos Aires" from Evita while salsa dancing a la Madonna.

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I would give you an 8.5, but the other judges are a little tougher.

message 574: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) 9.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Sweet!

message 577: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Holy cow. Make that a 10.

message 578: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments is this going to evolve into another barry manilow thread?

message 579: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Don't you believe in evolution, Kevin?

message 580: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments evolution of dance maybe

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments I am going hoooome!! For the first time in > 2 months! YAAAY!

message 582: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Oh! That's super, Nools! I get homesick fairly often. I don't get to see my family often enough.

message 583: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Good to hear, Nools!

Right now I'm in my pajamas and might watch Rachel Getting Married while the boys hit their school's movie night. Today was a good day. I observed a student from Tanzania work with a group of seventh graders. The student is a nun, very sheltered and traditional. She struggles with English, too. But the kids were SO respectful of her while she taught, and she looked like she was having fun for the first time in months. Days like today make the gig worthwhile.

Now I'm going to get drunk to celebrate.

message 584: by Félix (new)

Watch out for Rachel Getting Married, though. That one's a doozy.

Matthieu | 1009 comments I'm so happy to be home. I don't want to go back...

message 588: by [deleted user] (new)

Poor Matthew. Freshman year is hard! It gets better.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I am back from walking over to the Post Office, and almost got blown away. I guess it IS March.

I am okay with rain, by itself. However, I hate walking in windy AND rainy weather, which turns my umbrella into an opponent. A self-destructive one, at that.

message 590: by Lori (new)

Lori Yup, just my thought too, Jackie, it is very March outside! Add some sun, then torrential rain, then more sun, and it's a typical Seattle March day. But spring is in the air so I'm a happy girl.

Matthew - freshman year is the worst.

message 591: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) But March should be going out like a lamb soon. It's very lamb-like here today, but a storm is supposed to hit tomorrow.

message 592: by Lori (new)

Lori Well March isn't over until the fat lady sings!

message 593: by Matthieu (last edited Mar 20, 2009 06:22PM) (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments Poor Matthew. Freshman year is hard! It gets better.

I hope so, Montambo. This year has been unbelievably difficult. I think about what a privilege it is to be able to attend this school. I feel guilty about disliking it. I mean, what about those 25,000+ others who were rejected? Would they like it? Do I deserve to be here? I know that I'm only an hour away from home, but it feels like I'm across the country.

It certainly is, Lori. I wonder where I'll be next fall. Sophomore year...I certainly hope it's a lot better than this year. I'm turning 19 in four days. 18 was a rotten year. Maybe things will be better. Maybe I'm too optimistic?

message 594: by Ivy (last edited Mar 20, 2009 06:31PM) (new)

Ivy (theafricangourmet) I wish TV land had an Andy Griffith show marathon on tonight. The kids and I will have to watch our small collection of the Andy Griffith show DVD's. Beats watching the suite life of Zach and Cody or Hannah Montana.

message 595: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments You're the coolest, Ivy. I love the Andy Griffith Show.

message 596: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Matthew, I wish I could buy you a drink right now. It sounds like you need it.

message 597: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments :)

That'd be lovely, Sarah.

I'm not going be such a baby about school. Things can only go up from here.

You're welcome to visit.

message 598: by Lori (new)

Lori Matthew, maybe you just don't belong in Princeton? It might not be the right atmosphere for you. Well this year is almost over, maybe next year you'll settle in. And you are taking such a load of classes, so you've not had time to meet people. But yeah, freshman year can be so lonely.

message 599: by Matthieu (new)

Matthieu | 1009 comments I want to belong. I'm supposed to belong. It was my first choice. If I don't like it, what does that say about me?

message 600: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 538 comments It doesn't say anything about you. It just means freshman year can suck sometimes. Sorry, friend. It gets better. Starting with the part where you visit, and we get our gourmet ice cream. :)
