So, most of the schools in the area are closed today. Not because of anything weather related, but because a majority of the teachers called in sick so that they could go up to the capital to protest our new governors budget repair bill which is taking away most of the state workers/teachers etc. collective bargaining rights. Madison didn't have school yesterday, and most in the area will not have school tomorrow either the way it stands.

My son is thrilled.

I agree that we need to balance our state budget, but this almost seems like blatant abuse of power.

I just posted about this in the news folder. The governor's actions are appalling. It has nothing to do with balancing the budget, and everything to do with conservative alignment with corporations and union-breaking.
