Dawn | 3250 comments I have been through the entire series at least 3 times and most of the books more than 5. I still find things I missed before.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 798 comments I just finished the first book, and I was looking for mixed metaphors. If there were any, they slipped past me. Will look for them in the second.

Brotherhood in Death

Eve: "Don't judge a book by its title."
Doorman: "What?"
Roarke: "Cover. It's cover."
Eve: "Whatever."

Brotherhood in Death

Roarke: "Idle hands are the devil's workshop."
Eve: "Why? They're idle when you're sleeping—does he set up shop then? Are we all supposed stay awake using our hands so the devil doesn't make stuff? What if you broke your hand? Is he doing his workshop thing while you're waiting to have it fixed?"

Roarke (contemplating the pale gold ceiling): "Such a simple, if moralistic, phrase now thoroughly destroyed."

Eve: "I keep busy, too."

Pleased with herself, she strode off when the doors whispered open.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 1070 comments I loved it in Brotherhood when Roarke said "Idle hands are the Devil's workshop" and Eve replied well your hands aren't busy when your sleeping does that mean it's the Devil's workshop then? Or something like that. I loved it!

Nikki I've noticed more in the later books.

Me too! It's not just that Eve screws up the metaphors, she points out the illogic in them.

Nikki Seems like the last few books have mentioned "the herring thing" I'm on Obsession in Death, but I thought for sure she mentioned it in a previous book or two as well.
"Why are they red?"

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 798 comments I mentioned on another thread for this group that I saw Eve saying something to Roarke when he picked her up to carry her, "Dead woman," which he corrected to, "Dead weight." Since I've only read the first three books, I think it was Immortal in Death.
