Amber (mixiemoon) | 233 comments So I finished Lady of Light and Shadows and King of Sword and Sky. Moving right on to Queen of Song and Souls
I do like the series but it is also a little irritating the story is moving very slow and just when things pick up the book ends and it starts all over again in the next book.

message 2757: by Jax (new)

Jax | 831 comments Finally got my butt in gear and caught up on my series!

Finished A Memory of Light (Wheel of Time, #14; A Memory of Light, #3) by Robert Jordan - WOW!
Something Witchy This Way Comes by Veronica Blade - not a bad read. But I wasn't blown away.
Eternal Seduction (A Darkness Within Novel, #1) by Jennifer Turner - I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to - might actually see about getting by Jennifer Turner
The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines, #3) by Richelle Mead - ARGH! Another series they're just dragging along! It had such promise!! The characters were finally getting somewhere, issues getting resolved... and then they slapped in another obstacle. Huff!
Lost to the Gray (Shaede Assassin, #2.5) by Amanda Bonilla - no complaints on the writing, but Tyler just pisses me off!
Crave the Darkness (Shaede Assassin, #3) by Amanda Bonilla See my Thoughts Here
Dead Ever After (Sookie Stackhouse, #13) by Charlaine Harris - Hmmm.
And Just Started on Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments Finished Tempest Reborn (Jane True, #6) by Nicole Peeler . I'll write a review here tonight. I have such a book hangover; I can't believe it's over.

What did you think of the very end Zeenat? I found it slightly disappointing for the end of the series, you know?

message 2764: by Margo (new)

Margo | 663 comments Today I finished reading Truth (Consequences, #2) by Aleatha Romig and as a stand alone book it was great, but if I have to rate it as a continuation of a series it sucks. Well, okay maybe sucks isn't a good word but for those who read this series, how could any sane woman forgive Tony for what he have done? Seriously, I want to know. How the hell, after everything that Claire has been through, can she just accept him? I don't get it.

If I didn't read Consequences and only have read Truth, I would love Tony, but as it is, I just can't.

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments Tempest Reborn (Jane True, #6) by Nicole Peeler

These books are another giggle factory for me, in that I find myself rewinding to hear a line again….

I'd never seen anything like it. It was squat, about three feet tall and as wide across. It appeared to be made of... mud? Brown and lumpy, it sort of resembled a toad. Or the nasty brother that gets turned into an actual pile of shit in Weird Science.

I haven’t seen that movie … in like forever. I remember our copy being on a VHS….

"I don't think so," I said, responding to the dragon threats even as I took a fighting stance.
And that's when it really hit me that I was about to fight a mother**king dragon.

That just made me lol, my gamer background still gets excited about killing dragons so I lol’d because … I have said that before. No one will know this, but I said it during my first ToV raid in everquest. (Whole temple of dragons) They were technically wurms, but I was such a noob….

So many quote worthy lines. :)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Is it just a standalone book you're looking for, Amber? Is it UF or PNR or fantasy or what?

message 2773: by Amber (new)

Amber (mixiemoon) | 233 comments Ya a standalone. And I kinda read all of those but I'm not really in the moon for PNR atm.

message 2774: by Lannister (new)

Lannister (lannisteruk) | 10911 comments Standalone UF books aren't all that common, I don't think. Hell, standalone fantasy isn't all that common either LOL!

One of my favourite standalone fantasy books is Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay It is quite a thick book though and I don't know if it would be your kind of thing. I absolutely loved it, but it's a bit too wordy for some folks' tastes.

Can anyone else suggest a standalone UF book? Or fantasy?

message 2789: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments I just started Greywalker (Greywalker, #1) by Kat Richardson . So far I'm unimpressed. I really wish the author would devote a little more time to background and world building. All her descriptions are so vague I'm really not sure what's going on.

message 2790: by Llaph (new)

Llaph (llaph) | 3285 comments @ Mon:
I personally love the series, it is not for everyone though. Some people do not like the heroine or the language that downsiders speak for instance.

@claire:
I started that book and gave up on it, I kept feeling like I was missing something. I hit rewind a lot when I tried to read it, and not for funny lines like in other books, I did "wtf?" a lot a bit before I said f'it.

message 2791: by Claire (new)

Claire (claire1) | 4451 comments @Llaph yeah I stuck it out for around 90 pages...now I'm done. It's absolutely awful.

Amber (mixiemoon) | 233 comments Finished Written in Red. Wow not what I was expecting at all. Anne Bishop just isn't one of those authors that producing a book every year so this series is going to suck waiting for the next. If she plans on more. I loved her black jewels series.
