It's time for Nominations again! For December this time.
Oh, I second Days of Blood and Starlight. The first book was fascinating, and I'm interested to see where the author takes us in the second one.
I'd like to nominate The Hob's Bargain, a standalone book by Patricia Briggs, known from her "Mercedes Thompson" urban fantasy series.
Oh! No, series nominations must be the first in the series unless the group has already read the first!
Blood and Starlight has a Nov. 6 release date... not going to happen anyway. Please remember that the reason voting is done in advance is so people have a chance to get a hold of the book--which includes using wonderful creations like libraries.
Wow. Okay so . . . 1) first in series unless the group read it. 2) and book is in everyone's local library? That will take "The Hob's Bargain" out of it too sadly. I can't find it in any of Miami's 25 libraries. ITs an old series.
I'll nominate Legacies. I've already started it and like it quite a bit...bbbuuuttt I've ended up laying it aside to finish library books that have to be returned. If the group reads it I can go back to it, LOL.
I guess if you want to go for maximum participation, that would be the kind of thing to consider in nominating a book, which is why rules specify a number of formats, not just ebooks. The advantage of doing nominations far in advance does help people locate and buy cheaply, and allow time for shipping, so it doesn't preclude out-of-print. I've run into this before in other monthly reads, so I'm just sharing a few ideas for maximum participation.

Additonally, you reminded me about libraries!! I've been going over budget with my book buying latly and its been a good year since I went to the library! Thanks!
I usually can't find the books that are chosen by this group, so anything you want to do is fine. btw I did get hold of Three Hearts and Three Lions by Poul Anderson and it's a good read. Three Hearts and Three Lions

That's not possible, I bought this in Germany.
I think by adhering to the rules of availability in any format in any library we limit our choices to the books published in the last decade plus a few classics. Lots of good but perhaps not oh-so-popular book are being left out because they are not available in either a)one's local libraries or b)any digital format. Summers at Castle Auburn is a really engaging book, and original too, not following the latest trends. So is The Hob's Bargain. I would've seconded both, but it seems both are ineligible. Pity.
How about Tinker?
Another possibility: Troubled WatersIt's a recent book so it should be available. And it's a stand-alone novel.

Tinker looks interesting (though it might be better fit for "Urban Fantasy" group).Should we limit ourself to one nomination, and one seconding, or can we second more than one book?

You can nominate and/or second more than one book.

That's not possible,..." As I said not available in kindle on Amazon UK. I could try to get a paperback copy. or I could do what I usually do and shut up and not join in the reads because people moan at me.

All nominations must have a second. Only one second is necessary.
Authors, you may NOT nominate your own book.
Books must be available in a variety of formats, including mass market paperback.
You must use the 'add book/author' link when nominating the book. If I have to look them up, I won't include them in the poll.
The top two books will be our winners. Have fun!
